  1. quote: You cannot fillet polysurfaces (surfaces that have been joined together) in Rhino, if you know of a way please tell me, because I sure could use it.You can use solid fillet (Filletedge command) and select edges of the polysurface for fillet. BTW Rhino doesn't have a real variable fillet. It's too buggy. NPowerSolid (a Rhino Plugin) has 3 kinds of fillets: constant radius/variable rad/constant distance. It can shell and do boolean operation between polysurfaces too. But it's not very practical in complex models.
  2. Thanks for the info. I didn't know. And please change this "}" to this "]" in the post in the first paragraph.
  3. Look at post #18 I can't edit this post. I tried editing another post and I could.
  4. quote: FYI Sorry, the time in which you may edit your message has elapsed. It appears when I want to edit my previous posts.
  5. Hey I wanted to edit my previous post but here's what I got: quote: FYI Sorry, the time in which you may edit your message has elapsed. What does it mean?
  6. v2 can detect an ellipse as "closed clamped NURBS ellipse" and report its center and radii when you press F3. v3sr3b (which is the latest customers release) shows it as "closed NURBS curve" , although it's the perfect ellipse but you should find its center/radii yourself. They'll change it soon to what v2 reports, maybe your latest beta fixed it so far.
  7. Copied Pasted from http://www.state.nj.us/lottery/egames/cybe...ooting.htm#qa20 quote: To determine whether your Windows user account allows you to log in with Administrator rights, follow these steps: Right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop and choose Manage from the menu. In the left pane, expand System Tools, and then click Local Users and Groups. In the right pane, double-click Groups. Double-click Administrators. If your account has Administrator rights, it appears in the Members section. I doubt it realtes to your problem but I remember there was issue when installing to folders like "C:MCAM9.1" or folders with space in the name, try something like "C:MCAM91" instead.
  8. quote: I did take a file that had a few pocket surface operations and re-gened the op's (47). Just to try it out - what was taking about a hour to re-gen, only took about 11 min Impressive Have they changed surface pocket algorithms/mesh generation (by using version X codes for instance ), or was it a bug that recently fixed? Is there any documentation about it? According to the other post in the forum there's a very limited time for vX beta testing so I personally think it's reasonable to use some of X codes in previous versions.
  9. Well MC isn't my CAD software but I think you should find the surface(s) and untrim it and trim it again with adjacent surfaces and try to knit them together to form a closed solid. Btw can this "linear resolution" be changed in MC ?
  10. Phil, Can it export Parasolid too ?
  11. Besides is it just for last 30 minutes?
  12. That's it. But why doesn't the webby include these items in the regular forum page?
  13. Isn't it interesting that how many people read a post and how many replied? Sometimes you want to be sure if the topic's been read at all, besides this ratio can show everyone especially topic starter how hard or ridiculous the topic is, or is it interesting, or the possibility whether the topic is already discussed. And for me there were many times that I wanted to see who posted the last answer so I should hurry up and prepare a reply. Kevin teh the more the better
  14. NAV doesn't allow some parts to be registerred on your PC. Uninstall . Check your free space in the folders that previous installation stopped (TEMP folder) and remove unnecessary files. Disable Norton and install new MC to a new folder. Note: I've seen it in many places, sometimes Norton enables itself after several minutes after you disable it, so you should disable it for the second time and it won't again enable itself.
  15. First thing comes to my mind is disable Norton AntiVirus when you're installing.
  16. I never use Explorer so I don't know whether it has skip function or not. ) Anyway, TC has some very useful plugins too. Plugins for Kill Process/Uninstall/HTTP browser/Managing Services/Registry , Creating Batch files for a bunch of files, ....
  17. I think having two other status for each topic is useful. - Who's the last to reply - Number of Times a Post Viewed so far What do you think ?
  18. quote: I use Windows Commander from 1993 for Windows 3.11. I like FAR too . I never use Explorer (It is weaker and slower ) I used Norton Commander for dos . +10000 on that Total Commander, the first application I use to run every time I login. I can't live without. For just a $30 you can do alot of things and save hundreds of hours a year. Something that Explorer+Bunch of other utilities can't do. Kevin teh I love Total Commander aka Windows Commander
  19. Hi, I don't want updating timestamp of a folder in NTFS partition when I copy a file to it or when I delete files from it. It's ok to change file timestamp but I want folder timestamp to be the same as their Creation Date and never change. Is there a way ? A change in registry value ? A service ? Thanks
  20. If you can't buy Pro/E then the best solid modeler will be SolidWorks in my opinion, although SW doesn't have enough capabilities when it comes to organic or free form shapes. For surface design and free form shapes you can try Rhino or Delcam PowerSHAPE. Rhino does a better job when you want your surface models in another CAD especially in solid modelers. You can create water tight surface models in Rhino easily, something that's most of the time impossible in PowerSHAPE. We started using Rhino since v2 mostly for creating surfaces out of CMM probe datas (not point cloud), free form shapes and repairing IGES too. It has features that you can't find them in many CADs. v2SR3 is the most stable and fastest Rhino ever. Although they included new features in v3 but it's likely that you can see something that v2 does and v3 can't. Rhino had to change their codes for v3 since they used some of Alias codes and Alias wanted them back. So they wrote v3 from the scratch. About v4 of Rhino. It's still under development and next beta will be out soon . The emphasis will not be new commands for surface creation but editing and solid features, surface draft for instance. Something that many expect it. Who knows? Maybe v5 will be a solid modeler with alot of surface features.
  21. +1 dinoracer. I think the problem is somewhat like reading SolidWorks files in MC. I always save SW models in parasolid and import it in MC. No problem. Although MC isn't parasolid but the same should go to Inventor by saving as ACIS, if it's still ACIS based. But after seeing many problems regarding reading SW models, I'm guessing I missed something. Is there any real advantage in reading native Inventor or SW files? Could it be associativity with SW/Inventor native files?
  22. Not to mention Total Commander is a 32 bit app but you can download 16bit versions for win3.1 if you want. kevin teh NC in dark ages of DOS 3.2x, 80286.
  23. Actually I'm working with a GF 3 128MB at work and so far so good. You can buy GF 4 MX 440 under $100. But first try newegg or the likes, you can buy better cards for under $100 from what I've heard.
