Thanks Bernie, Only Batch mode can help but not always. We're not using UPS and workshop has electrical problems recently. The guy keeps telling us to turn your pcs off or on.

Forgot to say, I checked "Show hidden devices" in device manager and there's no disabled or bad deivce.

Hi folks, I searched internet high and low but I couldn't find a solution to this problem. How to enable Hibernation/Standby on PC? When I click on shutdown the Standby is greyed out holding shift key or pressing "H" can't go system to hibernatation as well. Although device manager shows that it's an ACPI Uniprocessor PC, when I go to Control Panel>Power Options, there's no Hibernation tab. In BIOS I can't find "enable ACPI" , instead I'm using USER DEFINED power management. AMD Athlon xp1800+/ASUS A7V333 (KT333 chipset) latest BIOS/GeForce3 (detonator 61.77)/ Standard PS/2 Keyboard (no special driver) If it's a bad driver(s) causing hibernation not showing up how can I find it? We have some big models and using Hibernation is inevitable. Kevin

You can upload it to FTP and someone can give you STEP. Or if you have SolidWorks, try saving it in Parasolid. Import it to SolidWorks and save it as STEP. Rhino can do it too, but it sometimes has problems.

I use to save useful threads. But I'm having a problem with Firefox. When saving a page in IE it saves it with the name in title bar. In Firefox it always default to "ultimatebb.php.htm". Is there any setting in Firefox? I've not changed any default settings yet.

I agree with most of the opinions mentioned above about popularity,support,forum support . I'm not a SURFCAM user, I mostly use Mastercam and PowerMILL. And I don't prefer it to Mastercam , my main reason is I think Mastercam provides better control in machining. Like many companies we tried several CAM softwares, mainly Mastercam/PowerMILL/Surfcam. I saw colleagues working with it and we discussed about both them and here are my findings about it: - It has a fully asoociative parametric Parasolid based Modeler which supports solid/surface/wireframe, called Paralogix or SURFCAM Solids, which has feature manager. It's used by other CAMs like EdgeCAM too. It's another software that you should run it separately. After model finished in it, user can export models to SURFCAM by clicking a button and it automatically launches SURFCAM and loads model. I don't know if it updates Toolpaths when you change a feature in modeler and reimport. - Changing machining parameters or selecting geometry is like Mastercam now, no need to create a new operation. However Mastercam has had this feature for years. - It's shipped with Predator Virtual CNC which I love it, the good thing is you can use a C-Hook and connect Mastercam to it as a verification package. - It has a easy to use tool with GUI for creating Posts, PTC uses the same tool. Mastercam posts are more customizable but harder to use in my opinion. - Surfcam learning curve for machining is shorter than Mastercam according to what I heard from our colleagues who tried them both. - Surfcam mesh generation seems faster, however according to my colleagues it seems it has bugs when meshing vertical walls, so Toolpaths are not always perfect. - Mastercam Backplot is much better with more options

I think IE users find Firefox more comfortable than Mozilla especially with import settings from IE. But what are the real differences between Mozilla (12MB download) and Mozilla Firefox(5 MB)?

I think by soft modding it to FireGL you can prevent many problems. You might want to give it a try and soft mod it to FireGL using RivaTuner here Guru3D board .

+1 to all above. As another solution, if you receive many models from various CAD packages, you can use Rhino to fix/create/modify models easily and export them to whatever CAD you need. I think it's one of the best tools. HTH

Aside from UG/CATIA/Rhino. Look at DELCAM products, mainly PowerSHAPE (CAD side)/PowerMILL (CAM). VX Vision (CAD/CAM)hybrid modeler. ThinkDesign (CAD) hybrid modeler.

I think the only patch for MR304 is the one that fixes bugs when you use XR/YR/ZR variables in your posts. It's nothing to do with machining operations.
