  1. David, seems like they launched the update in the "hours of darkness" much like the Baghdad strike, or maybe it is to get us Aussies to "test it first" "Australia the Beta planet". JUST KIDDING. chris flint
  2. Times New Roman according to the old engravers and photoshop chris f
  3. Thank you very much for that, I found it and changed it as you said and hey presto no more block numbers. Once again BIG THANKS chris f
  4. I have a problem in that my CNC cannot handle block numbers bigger than 99999 and most of the programs I run are 250000 lines plus. Is there a way to turn off the block numbering premanently, when it posts. I have tried to do this but it generates an error. Help as I do not like to have to edit every program for this as I sometimes forget and the CNC crashes at 99999 requiring long re-runs. chris f
  5. Fixed this one two. Very easy, open the JPEG in COREL DRAW , drag the size until it is very big, save it and move it to COREL TRACE convert it to black and white, and then do the trace, worked like a dream and you get smooth vectors, save as DXF and import it into MC chris f
  6. Hi Guy's, a lot of the forum posts refer to the FTP site and other posting on ftp sites, when I click on the links I normally get the windows white screen "cant find da da da" or I get asked for a password I do not hve a password, so what do I do??
  7. thanks guy's I found it on right click untick no more dramas ( for now at least) in fact maybe you can assist one more time today. I have imported raster to vector, it is a celtic knot, the problem I have is how do I smooth the curves/splines after they are vectors, ( I tried all the options when doing the conversion but the results were not good so I have had to live with the poor quality vectors) because at the moment they are really jagged lines and curves and I am not sure if when toolpathing whether the machine will try to follow the jagges lines and give me a jagged edge, or should I just up the create spline tolerance in the tool path???
  8. sorry guy's forgot to mention V9 and David I can't find that switch
  9. How do I turn off the continual "snap to". For example when drawing a circle/spline over an existing drawing the cursor constantly tries to snap to an entity, which is exactly what I don't want. help chris f
  10. Thanks KT and everyone , I am in the process of working thru the problem with Iven at MC and we are making good progress, But I would really like to get a list of all the errors and what thy imply or mean and how to fix them. chris f
  11. I like James's idea, could you not just use a tool setting probe mounted somewhere on the table and when a machine path is finished, (write a small program to make the machine go to the tool probe and) check the reading if no reading stop machine cycle
  12. excuse the dumb a$$ question, but how do I go to the FTp site to look at files I I do what it says at the top of this page I get an error asking if I have permission to be view the site??
  13. Hi Yogesh, you still owe us an explanation how CNC systems sorted that flower pic of yours out. THe thing I am trying to surface is a panel 2800 mm X 1800 mm and the file size gets to about 100megs plus, The guy's at MC are also trying to assist, but I still do not know what the error means, I actually would like a complete list of all errors and what they mean, but no one seems to have this. I never stop working, 24/7, got to make some cash I have not done too well over the last 5 months getting ART up and running so I am about 4 months behind my schedule check my website www.twoft.com.au kind regards chris flint
  14. What the heck does " can't write presets " mean. This error comes up a lot lately as I am trying to create an organic surface which is large.
  15. try using highfeed when posting and also filter to arcs on all axis
  16. Surely the smart thing CNC systems "could and should" have done was to ask users what they wanted. This is basic marketing. Making something new and then thrusting it on the consumers, is just not the right way. And for the arguement regarding DOS and Windows, do you guy's making these references know that Windows is not really an operating system, but a friendly GUI that works on top of DOS, so DOS windows = same thing. I do think the difference between Microsoft and CNC systems is when Microsoft screw up ( and they do) they fix it damn quick, even though they OWN the PC market and could be very tardy if they wanted to be and we would all wait, this does not happen. I have X but cannot use is at all because it cannot interface with ART, when it does I am sure I will bite the bullet and get on with X as CNC systems are not going to release any updates for ART ( and I have paid for maintenance) but I really hope that all the grumbling from my "esteemed forum collegues" has got CNC systems to solve thes issues "before" I get to use X. And finally to the last jerk remark about "older people" I say " in order to be old and wise, you first have to be young and foolish"
  17. Went and had a good look at the toolpath, it is G1 so I presume srtait lines. I then modified the program by slowing the speed of the cutter to 4000, 6000, 8000, 10000 rpm cutting an identical job, not much change all of the lines had some waveness in them. i then re posted the program using Hifeed which I have configured. Result very good strait lines. I can only assume that the waveyness is caused by to extreme acceleration and decelleration of the router, using Hifeed smoothes the operation and makes the whole game "softer", now in the information it says Hifeed can only be used with flat cutters etc BUT I used a Vee cutter and got good hifeed results why is it suposedly restriced to only some cutters???
  18. How do I find the exact code for this sector ( other than the real long way around)any quick ideas. chris f
  19. Me again, more questions. One of the articles I have just routed is a wheel chair access sign and where the "wheel is there are 2 angled strait lines ( always show up a little zig zaggy on the PC when going across the screen) and when machined I am not getting perfect strait lines in some of the strait line sectors the lines are a little wavey and tend to detract from the great finish. What could be causing this, my machine is a 6.5 ton SCM Record and does not appear to move at all. the guide ways are all good and no movement is apparent, Could it be that I am "creating arcs" in all planes, could it be I am trying to go too fast around corners, should I use highfeed. Any help is appreciated. chris f
  20. I have been getting a few jobs where the material is 10mm perspex and the client wants engraving of letters and signs. I have cut this with a 2 flute cutter previously without compresed air and just strait suction to remove the chips and got a magic finish. I then machined it with a 90 degree Vee cutter ( Leitz single flute insert type, brand new and very sharp )at 10000 rpm, depth of cut about 2mm per pass, feed max ( programmed )of 3000 mm per minute. And I used compressed air to cool as it was cutting. The job when finished I could see what looks as if the cut perspex is semi welding itself back into the groove. The cut perspex is white and can be easily crushed into little slivers by hand. I removed it without much difficulty with a sharp chisel, and the resultant groove was good, but it was time consuming. But how do I stop this happening and where am I going wrong, I have heard of liquid misters being used?? Any help would be appreciated. chris f
  21. Budgie, you got me there, No I did not send a copy to my reseller but explained the problem as best I could. What the heck is or how do you "check your post for Arc checking " regards chris f
  22. I use V9 and use "create next menu elipse" When machined, does not matter what I "filter" or change the tool path is G1 which tells me it is not an arc ( or am I crazy) I would expect to see G2 and G3, and I also get tiny lines as opposed to arcs, again it does not matter what I alter. I would also like an explanation from CNC Systems as my reseller says I should see G2 and G3 chris f
  23. Paul, TYRES are things that where I come from if you "screw up good" the put them around your neck, fill them with petrol and set you and them on fire, "they" call it necklacing in Africa
