When I import an .IGS file, I get a message, or maybe it is a tooltip, box that tells me how many surfaces were imported. Nothing I do will get rid of it, closing X and restarting is the only way I have found to get rid of it. Am I missing something?
Analyse/Surfaces/Curvature/Surfaces/All surfaces has been removed from X, what is equivalent? I need to analyze a cavity and determine smallest radius so I can choose cutter.
TIA
If you have toolmakers you can talk to sit and by'em a cup'a joe and listen to what they have to say, if not call your tool rep he would be a great source for this information (if he is worth his weight in salt)
Is this a true bowl shape? We do cavities very similar to bowls in our headrest tooling. Use surface rough pocket and surface finish scallop very effectively. Running in 6061AL, but we run a lot of 4140 in other parts. In AL I could do this cavity in about a half day depending on shape.
I've found X to be as good or better at handling any surf/solid you can throw at it. I do wish it was easier to modify some surfaces, but is still far cry better than my alternative (MCAD). We use it for 3/D machining of mold cavities and have not had any complaints about how fast it would process a file.
Hi everyone, hope this hasn't been covered elsewhere.
When I minimize my X-mr2 window and then some time later, maximize the window, the toolbars are all lined up on the left side of window in a single column. Very annoying. Anyone else have this problem?
Will the resulting cavity remain closed?
If not, perhaps you can make an access to the interior solid by extruding a hole that will give you access.
If it will remain closed, you may then be able to delete the extruded hole.
