I get so tired of the d@mn bugs.
They're in every software. Literally.
But somehow Mastercam seems to have a corner on the market for sheer quantity and level of work-flow-interruption.

Somebody should! (present company excluded)

I haven't even opened 2023 and won't. We're still running 2020 here.
If the stock setup issue is still xxxxed up we'll prolly wait even longer.

I like that added functionality but am really disappointed that they removed functionality for, in their words on the official forum, make it easier for training
Those 6th graders need all the help they can get.
Seriously though... remember when your car's repair manual told you how to adjust the valves? But now they tell you not to drink the liquid that's in the battery?
The Pop-Tart generation seriously hampered our ability to get work done. Machine shops are like Adult Daycare these days. People suing because they didn't have time to get from their workstation to the break room, forcing companies to add 4 minutes to each break and 10 minutes to lunch. You can't tell someone they suck at their job, etc.
Worker: "You fired me because I'm ____________."
Boss: "No. We HIRED you because you're __________. We FIRED you because you're worthless here."
Worker: "AHHHHHhhhhhh! Muh feels!"

Yep, exactly! This was an important one for me- I like to do a lot of "in-situ" verifying of some set of operations deep in the toolpath tree, and not having to keep setting Simulator options to look at Op 153 or Op 171 or whatever stock op was preceding the ops is a great change to allow me to bounce around quicker.
We prolly won't be moving to '24 for a few years (we're still happily on '20).
But from what @Chally72 just said, that's a HUGE improvement. It's super annoying having to change stock settings every time you want to verify something. And having some stupid random stock size pop up when you first start (because you didn't set the stupid settings Every. Single. Time.) gets old fast.
I'm hopeful this will be worth the price of admission when we DO upgrade.

This will be very much dependent on tool manufacturers recommendations.
And other criteria, like workholding rigidity, taper size of the spindle, h/p or spindle, machine-size/rigidity (we can't do 25% on our little Brothers but we can on the DMGs).

Mastercam where you need to hit Esc in scenario and Enter in another
^^^ This. ^^^ #@$%ing this!! ^^^
MC lost their workflow when they moved to the X GUI. Real shame too because it used to flow well. Now GibbScam has better flow than Mastercam.
I'd be joining in on the community LOLs but since I know both software's so well I have to deal with it every day.

You know, that's a really, you know... good explanation of what's going on with the, you know, floor stock and wall stock.
You know?

Nice necro!
First thing I do is turn that crap off. It's deceiving when looking at it on a 2d screen. If screens had 3d it "might" be a different story.
It's like I'm stuck looking at a drawing of a horse from a typical 6 year old with a huge head, normal body and tiny feet.

No reason not to increase it. This controls the "Max String Length" that you can "pass in the NCI to the Post". It does not handle comment length processing. Considering the speed of modern computers, you shouldn't notice any affect on Posting.
I would think that would be more of a controller limitation.

Just another change for the sake of making a change. Way too much of this going on in recent releases.
Gotta make the maintenance customers feel like they're getting their money's worth.

Considering the current crop of "leaders" in the US mayhaps Banana Republic units is more accurate.

When this is turned on, it does it automatically while processing.
I can't find it, prolly in a newer version than 2020. That would be cool though!

Guessing that a no from you... Do you beta test for them?
I beta tested the first X versions. Haven't since. I was referring more to the current list of undocumented features and workflow-derailment functions I've seen.

Thanks Ron. I'll send a request to IT.

Do you know if they listen to the beta testers as far as UI design goes?
Based on what I've seen in the last several months after being away from it for many years... I'd say they pay as much attention to them as ever.

There's so much division these days. Can't we all just get along?

Thanks Josh. I'll create an account when I get a moment. I created a new tool and got through the part.

I get the idea they want a CNC program to run the part not help programming it in Mastercam.
Ahh, you may be right.

8mm endmill and a simple contour toolpath should do it.

Is this a default dialog every time something is transformed or does it really think it created "duplicates entities"?

I know the pain.
Mastercam does not seem interested in fixing bugs and making current user's lives easier. But they ARE interested in getting new customers. There's more $$$ in new customers.
If they went one full release JUST fixing the multitude of stupid, bullxxxx bugs that have been lingering for years they would have a solid package.
Nope, not happening. They have to get that new sale by flashing new bells and whistles that un-ironically create more and more bugs in the core software that often don't get fixed.
