Does windows 7 have an option to record your screen moves? I want to make a small video to show what I am seeing in mastercam. Sorry for being unclear of what I am seeing. thanks for the input. jeff

When I started using 2017 I didn't expect an issue to just pop out at me, but it did. When I select create line, whether it is freeform, horizontal or vertical it will not work unless I X out of it and select again. I figured being a new version I would wait and see if it gets fixed through maintenance releases. Here we are with two updates already and it still hasn't been fixed. If someone knows how I submit this issue please let me know. thanks, Jeff

From what I am hearing. The concentration would be toward the CPU, and Less focus on the RAM with a great video card. I spec'd out a system, and upon searching for different items for the computer. I did find somethings very interesting, to say the least. I did not know that 1 terabyte of memory exists. Yes, you heard right. So i was curious at the price. 35,000.00 for 1 Terabyte of RAM. Some of you guys that has kept up with the computers evolution would roll your eyes at me. I obviously have not kept of with it. Anyway, When I finally came to my senses after looking at the price of an out of reach memory. I spec'd out one for 3900.00. Well that may go over, with management like a lead balloon. thanks guys.

Thanks for all the great suggestions, this helps greatly. I forgot to mention one thing. We are programming forms with a high amount of surface patches. I would think this is a factor as well.

We have started programming 5 axis programming with a trunnion. what is a good combination of processor and RAM to be able to run and process on Mastercam. Not sure we have the correct combination. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. thanks in advanced.

I guess if I were only using center points for this feature then that would be great. I use this function for the center of a hole to create geometry, therefore only needing ONE point. Anyway, I will adapt, not a big deal. It just makes me realize Mastercam is only for machine parts and not design work, or creating parts from a scan. thanks again for the input.

Thanks. Well that sucks, too much thinking involved, I would think. Then I would think the option would be to add points to quadrants, not just say center point.

I noticed in 2017 version that when I use the bounding box function and choose center point, it creates center points on all the quadrants of a circle. I ONLY want a center point. Can anyone tell me if this is a glitch or has this changed with this version?

I was now able to install the setup sheet for X9. Changing a couple of permissions for my login, did the trick.

NOTE: I did install the X+ setup sheet on a laptop that is not on our network and it installed correct. That being said, what else could it be other than ADMIN or VIrus protection software? Thanks Regards Jeff Smith

I had our IT guy to turn the virus protection OFF and tried to install again. It did not work. I don't know of anything else to try.

I am not sure if I can turn the Virus protection OFF.. This is company virus protection, they lock us out of turning anything on or off. It would take an act of congress. I will give it a try though. I did redownload X+, with still the same result.

I seem to be having trouble intalling the X+ setup sheet. It keeps giving me errors while trying to load. Attached is an example of what i am getting. thanks for your help. Jeff

Thanks for the response. Asking my Boss what is best, he wouldn't know one from the other. I have spaceclaim and Geomagic Design X (rapidform), this is only good for some parts, Geomagic Wrap is what I am using for 3D modeling, With the Steinbichler L3D which from what i've seen, seems to be the most accurate. I am also using Renishaw Cyclone 1, for scanning 2D data. We have a handwork shop which they weld and grind blocks in by hand, and trim edges, when they are broken. This is not ideal conditions. When they bring things to me, they want a PERFECT part and all I can give them is what I see. I am using Mastercam to clean the 2D data. This is what I deal with daily, they think with all of the expensive equipment I have it should be perfect. It is only as perfect as the person grinding it. I think with all of the software I have, probably is the best. Accuracy falls on the person cleaning the data, or at least that is what my boss assumes.

I don't usually get off topic, but I wanted to ask the guys that use mastercam. I am doing more reverse engineering than i am programming using Geomagic software to clean scanned data. my question to y'all is. Is there any other software out there that would be better and more accrurate than Geomagic Wrap or Design X? The reason I am asking is, my boss claims that we are not using the most accurate of software. If someone knows what is better, please let me know. I am having an issue with the chain selection. In X7, when using the chain selection, I always use right click to LOCK the selection, now in X8 the chain selection isn't working properly. Now when I use the right click to LOCK it, it only holds for two uses, then i have to lock it again. anyone else see this issue? thanks
