  1. Mike, Sorry for the delay with getting back to the thread. I downloaded the and installed the chook. I'm not really sure what I am suppose to do with it. Can you give me some pointers on what to do once I have it installed. Thanks
  2. I have a solid that I want my origin in the very center all entities on the screen. Isn't there a shortcut way to do this with one or two key strokes. I am presently creating lines and moving to mid-points. If I remember correctly there is some way to center all entities. Thanks
  3. I have a mold that has holes coming into the cavity. I am drilling from the backside of the cavity. I was wondering if there was a way to have the drill to know what the drill depth needs to be with out having to write a operation per drilled hole and then pick the depth I need it to stop at break through of the surface. There are over 300 holes in the mold cavity. and all of them have different break through depths. I was thinking along the lines of an inc. drill depth. Only problem with that is the geometry has nurbs at the break through point into the cavity, not circles. I don't know if this make any sense to anyone. I'm just try make as easy on myself as possible
  4. It appears from the link that Span has posted, I will be doing a re-install. Thanks
  5. One of the guys programming next to me had is bottom toolbar that shows "Level", "Color", "Line Style" to disappear. What is the correct name for the toolbar or area of the screen. Also what is a fast way to get it to re-appear. Thanks
  6. Matt, Are you this is not ceramic, but is sapphire. And if so were might I find some?
  7. I have a part I'm quoting. The material is "Ceramica Alumina" made by Saint Gobain CB96E. The number behind the name should be a reference number, not for sure. The print is from Brazil, and they told me to use a Portuguese translation. I did a search on the net but didn't come up with anything. I can order other material, but it needs to be similar. Also, what tools will cut ceramic? All or any help would be great!! Thanks
  8. I'm trying to edit my lathe post for my Haas SL 20 lathe. When I try to post a canned thread cycle I get the following output: R20=.118 R21=.6750 R22=.0000 R23=5 R24=.0590 R25=.0010 R26=.4720 R27=8 R28=37 R29=30 R31=.6750 R32=-.7000 R37=.975 L97 P1 I need something that looks like this: G76 X.793 Z-.7 K.059 D50 A30 F.118 I don't know if this is completely correct, but my machine reads the above line without any alarms. The above line was posted from a Haas post that I got from the ftp site. The only problem using the Haas post, it doesn't post my approach and retracts correctly. That's why I would rather keep using the post that I have tweaked in. I am pretty much lost with editing canned cycles. I would be thankful for any help. Rob
  9. I finally got back to this problem again. Quick fix for me was to do what Salt4cad's suggestion. Do a forced tool change. It basically puts in a tool change code that I don't need, but I do have my M03 line. Thanks to all for the help!!
  10. Do you know the biggest property difference?
  11. How much trouble is 403 to machine?
  12. I am wondering if I can substitute 410SS with 416SS. I have a part that calls for 410SS. My local SS vendor can only get 416SS in the diameter that I need. I was reading in the machinery's handbook that 410 is sometimes substituted with 416SS. Does this sound right to you guys. Thanks Robert
  13. I have a customer that wants us to make him a mold pin (.750dia x 5.0 long). Does anyone know what type of steel this should be made from, and what HRC it should be? Thanks for any help!
  14. Thanks fro the info. guys. I got real busy this afternoon and wasn't able to work on the part anymore. I have been putting off learning SW. Looks like it time to start playing around. Dgriffiths, I'll send you a copy tomorrow when I get to work. Rob
  15. G, I'm using SW2004. i saved my drawing as a iges file and was then able to import the solid. But as you have said about the drawing not being created in SW, I can't get it to flatten. Could you help with this file so I can get it quoted. Here is a pic of it. Thanks Robert
  16. I have a sheet metal pulley cover that I have drawn in MC. In Solidworks, can't you unfold a model to get the correct 2d drawing to have the part laser burnt. I have Solidworks here but don't know anything about using it. I tried to open my MC solid in Solidworks using parasolid and step formats. I couldn't get either one to open in SW. Can you guys give me some pointers on how to import my MC solid into SW, and how to do the unfold feature. If not I can put the solid on the ftp site and someone could unfold the part for me. Thanks Robert
  17. Can anyone give me another steel close to the properties of 1060 steel. I have part that I'm quoting that calls for 1060 steel. The part is 12" dia. round and 4.25 wide. Will get surface hardened (60Hrc) on the 4.25 surface. All my venders tell me they can only get 1060 in flat plate. I really don't want to start with a burnout on the lathe. Are there any other steels that I might be able to suggest to my customer?
  18. Tony, I haven't tried this yet. It will probably be over the weekend before I try it. Rob
  19. Tony35, I tried to had the above lines under "ptlchg_com" in the post. It didn't change what was output in program. I'm not sure that I added the info in the right place in the post. I will show below what I added to the post. Thanks for help. Rob ptlchg_com #Tool change common blocks if mi1$ = 1, n$, *sm00, e$ ptlchg_com if mi10$, [ pretact n$, *sm00, e$ pbld, n$, pfspindleout, e$
  20. I am trying to remove a slug from the center of a part after the part has been roughed out. I am using one operation to rough the part, then a second operation to do my finish pass. So I need an "M00" added to my program between the rough pass and the finish pass. I'm using ref point after first pass to get the machine to position so I can remove the slug. After removing the slug I need to press cycle start and finish the part. My problem is as follows: I am trying to use canned text to add a "M00" between 2 operations that use the same tool. The 2nd operation that I add the canned text "M00" to has one rough and one finish cut. My post outputs an "M00" between each pass. I only want it to output the "M00" at the very beginning of the operation, not at each multi pass. I have the same problem if I have multiple depth cuts. Can someone tell me what I need to edit in my post. I'm running X2 MR1 SP1, my post is a basic MPMaster post that I have edited for my Haas VF0. I had a misc value setup to do an "M00" before an operation. This worked fine on the Mazaks I used to run. The problem with the Haas is if you do a "M00" move, the post needs to output the spindle speed and coolant after the "M00". My post doesn't output the spindle speed or the coolant which is a problem. So I don't know which problem would be easier to fix, the misc values or the canned text. Thanks to all!!!!!! Rob
  21. We also do as Santa Fe suggested, for the reason Justin said. My set plane is the rail on the vise. We use a vise 90% of the time. We also have a electronic tool setter from which we touch tools off so you don't break the small or carbide EM. I don't use the touch off the top of part because if it is 3D or profile you no longer have point from which to reference the tool from.
  22. I just did a video driver update to get rid of the oval circle that my widescreen monitor was producing. Now that I have did the install my text and geometry in Mastercam seems to be blurry. I'm using a 1154 x 864 resolution. The NVIDIA driver I installed has lots of option to change. I have changed several, but haven't had any luck. Any suggestions. Thanks
  23. I did check the accept box. I finally got it downloaded. I went to Firefox and got the add-on "Download Them All". It worked fine using this tool, and was very quick. thanks Robert
  24. I am using a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 285. I have the oval circles also. I have tried to download drivers from this link NVIDIA Drivers download I can't get the file to download. Seems my Firefox browser just sits ideal. I have even tried to download using MS Explore, but still no luck. Any ideas what my download problem is. Also is this the best place to get my drivers for this video card. Thanks Rob
