Can the average guy run a benchmark test on their computer?Where can I get the instructions on how this is done? Very interested in seeing what my computers can do. Very low IQ on the in's & outs of computers, but one of the guys here has built several computers over the years, that we run MC on. I don't know if he knows to do this.
This is the type of info that I need shared with me. I have never been around automated finishing process. Every place I have worked has had manual de-burring. Me and a file, center-drill, sandpaper. Now that I have my own shop, I am looking to invest in making my parts look the best thy can with an automated procedure. Open to more ideas that might be a better fit for me.

This is kind of what I am looking at. Not sure on the Sump filtration or Filter Pak

Don't know what is the better machine. I want to buy the better machine so I only spend one time.
I am looking to purchase a small vibratory tumbler to run small parts in. I have no clue what to buy or stay away from. Most of the parts I run can be held in the palm of your hand. I don't want to buy something that is too small and will not do a good job, but floor space is a premium in my shop at this point. MSC has some, but I want to make sure I get "the best bang for my buck". Please share any information you might have on these. Also what type of media do you use. I make steel , Stainless steel and alum parts.
Is there a solid model for the following. I am about to start using this vise and would rather not have to draw it up.
Kurt ClusterTower, Double Manual Vise
Part No. CT2DC4B
The Chipmaker, you are telling me even though my tool is basically made like I had it, MC doesn't work well with this. This actually makes sense to me. When I tried to define my tool in MC it kept giving me an error. My shank diameter and cutting dia are actually the same size. MC wouldn't except this info. So I reduced the shank to .07 until MC would except the design. From know on. I will make it with a straight shank. Thanks
Are you guys using "Migration Wizard" to move from 2019 to 2020? We are wanting to move up today. We have always just placed our posts and tool files in there proper location and proceeded from there. 2020 seems to be fighting us trying to do it manually?
I am trying to do a undercut toolpath with a lollipop tool. I can't get it to come out correctly. I could use some help if anyone wants to give me advise. I have attached my part program. The operation I am having problems with is oper 9. I maybe trying to use the wrong toolpath for what I am trying to accomplish.

I saw that my depths were different also.
I have been away from programming and running a machine for 11yrs. Back in the saddle again. But forgot a ton of the tricks to 4th axis programming.
Thanks to everyone!!! and Dum1!!!
No 5 axis license. I tried substitution unroll. I get an alarm "zero line length", "cutter compensation not successful", "error regenerating operation". Seems to not like my tool path.
I am having problems getting the correct toolpath for the part I am trying to produce. I have attached the file that i am trying to program. It starts out fine, then halfway through the rotation, I get a flat. The flat would be ok at the radius as it begins to track back toward the beginning of the lot. Could you guys give me your expert opinion? I have attached pics of the original part.
thanks

I do run SW some. Not a lot. I thought about the case fans but didn't want to get a lot of noise. Also thought about changing the fan speed on the fans in the computer. Is this possible?
How hard is it to add the case fans.
What about the Geforce GTX 970? That is one model older than the 980.
I had a fan strapped to the back of the computer for about 3 weeks. When I started to pull more air across the video card, it began to let both monitor work. The fan was running wide open. The noise has been driving me crazy. Well the second monitor began to drop out again this morning. The quietness in the office is golden after all the noise the last couple of weeks.
Can you give reference to case fans you might recommend?
I have a Quadro 4000 vc that has overheated, and know will only display one monitor. I am using a Dell T5500 computer.
I have had trouble with the Quadro vc on 2 different Dell machines. I am wanting to possible go away from this type of video card and buy something different.
Or I need to reduce the temp that is inside my case.
Please give options and or advise on what I should do. I don't want spend a ton of money on a video card.
I will answer questions or give more info if you need it.
Thanks
Ron you were spot on with my problem. Next problem is I downloaded the Verisurf from MC website years ago. I didn't make a copy of it. Now it is no longer available. (Silly Me)!!! Where can I get a copy of the file or how can I get MC to stop looking for the files that are not available to put on the new computer.
Thanks
Robert
