  1. Well...I also have calls in to the Okuma guy for a look at a ESL6II To the Daewoo guy. We'll see. and to Ellisons to look at a Duraturn. As I have just bought a Sharp VMC, I also am looking at a Sharp lathe. We'll see...
  2. I've had luck putting a little modeling clay in the fins of stuff like that to get the harmoics in a different place. Stops it from vibrating as much.
  3. Gary, I have a couple of Phase Perfects in my shop. They are digital, and cleaner than the power company provides. (I get no three phase at my shop. We're just a little shop) Chris. I would love to be able to buy a new Mori, But I can not swing it at the moment. I'll have to work my tail off and trade up when I can. That's the direction I'm moving in anyway. I'll give CNC sales a call in a bit as well. Thanks
  4. No editing for me either...3 and 4 axis mill and lathe. Lots of help from this forum. I was used to earlier posts like V8...got to 9 an dgot lost in the variables. I still am but with help, I've got mine sorted.
  5. Well....THIS is certainly an eye opener!!!!!!!! Rick, We those new ones or the old Cobra and conquest (t42) machines? I've seen a couple Daewoo's and have been pretty impressed with the machine. Don't know who sells and more important, who services them here in Seattle. The Okuma dealership had been bouncing around from place to place in Seattle fro awhile now. That makes me a little uneasy. I had an LB15 for years that was very reliable and accurate. I talked to the Mori guys. NL1500 two axis is close on $120k after discounts. $132k list. Just too much for me. The new Duraturn is discounted to $85k at the moment. That is an option. Having just been burned badly by Selway on service, I'm a little sensitive about that now... One other thing, I do very little over 1 1/2" dia in alum and not much over 1" dia in stainless. most tol, are .0002 Thanks for your thoughts Keep em comming guys
  6. We are a little shop. but we're busy. I need to buy another lathe. I'm looking at a Hardinge Talent 6/45 with tailstock, parts catcher probe, bar interface (small shop with no room for the barfeed at the moment) 5c and 16c nose nad hi press coolant. and a 20hp phase perfect. Any thoughts? The list price is close to $74k. What's a good target price? This is my second new machine, I am waiting on a new machine center to be delivered, nad I think I did OK on that deal. Just wanting a little advice... Thanks
  7. quote: neither are exploded views You haven't looked in the window of my lathe......
  8. I tried to look at them Rick. But the sales guy in Snohomish wouldn't even return a call or an email. I take that back...he returned one call. I asked for a quote and never heard a thing Go figure...
  9. I'll get it up there this afternoon...I did a work around, (wrote it by hand) to get the parts out the door. But I'm curious to know how it's supposed to be done... Thanks
  10. yes...I have a cutoff tool that will drive the simple groove geometry. it is .086 wide and the groove is about .34 wide. I can plunge the rough path but when I define the tool, and ask it to drive the geometry, (counter clockwise) it does not drive the final wall, but goes to the front of the tool at the final wall, violating the front of the groove. I think that explains it...
  11. I have an OD goove to make I am using an .086 wide parting tool to generate this. It has (the groove) a .015 rad at the bottom of the groove. How do I get the tool to enter on the back side of the cutter???? I have the little tic box checked, and it makes no difference either way? Same thing when I part off.... What am I doing wrong? Thanks
  12. I found that if I save it , all is well. I need to set up all my librarys nad defaults. But I'm th onlyest programmer, buyer, contracts guy, setup guy... You get the picture. But on a good note, I have guy this morning for an interview....
  13. OK....I gotta know. When I edit a lathe tool. like a groove tool. The default feed rate is in IPM. I'd like to use IPR. I change it and the feed rate to what I want, click OK.... You'd think that'd do the trick.... I get a window telling me the tool settings have been modified anddo I want to continue. At that time, the feed rate has changed to .0001 per min. or per rev. Is this a bug or am I doing something really stupid?????
  14. I am beginning to think my Haas is a temporary fix too....I'm shopping for a new Mori!
  15. Fingers go tappity tap..... Tap...tap...
  16. I have had good luck parting from the inside partially as well Teflon , delrin, nylon and some others don't like carbide either. But you already knew that...
  17. quote: thanks, I'll call HAAS Mike Oh Great..... Let me know how THAT turns out for ya!!!!! Hope your HFO isn't Selway
  18. When in doubt, don't run and shout... Just change the spec, and ship it out!! Berma Shave
  19. I use it for engraving, small detail surface work. It holds 1/8 tools so I use it for tiny detail stuff. Jim
  20. I second the NSK choice. I have an 80k air speeder that is awesome. Jim
  21. Thanks Jim. I found that workaround too... But I gotta admit, it's better than working in Gibbs... Jim
  22. I have MCX mr2 mill level 3 and lathe entry I have a job that has two lathe ops (front and back side) and two mill ops. a pocket in the side and cross hole and two pockets in the end, I set up machine def 1 as my lathe nad machine def 2 as my mill. When I get to the mill portion, I want to helix into the pocket, Get the warning that spirol entry is not allowed in entry. As in Lathe entry...... WTF???????????? Anyone have a little insight into this? Thanks Jim
  23. I had the Bobcrap guy call me and tell me what a great thing it was. I told him Ok...we;ll have a race.
