The only way that I know how to zip a file is out of mastercam once I've already opened it. Can you explain how to zip it otherwise.
never mind I figured it out. Wow finally worked. Please delete that once you've tried it. Thanks.
EJECTORX .zip
Just done a go to meeting with my reseller he got the same crash I was getting. I emailed him the .sldprt file in question. He's gonna call me back once he gets the file.
ok, I talked to my reseller and he told me how to do the reregistry thing. I did it and It said it worked but now when I try to open a .sldprt file, mastercam crashes.
Any more ideas. My reseller must've went to lunch. lol
I tried opening several .sldprt files. even from a few years ago. I get the same error. I then tried using the wire guys seat of mastercam to open a couple of .sldprt files and it crashed both times. This shouldn't be this difficult. I read the other thread and I got really confused. Could you explain exactly what I need to do to fix this problem. I use to be able to open his .sldprt files no problem. Not sure what went wrong. Thanks for the help
John, I would rather open his native solidworks files but I keep getting the error it can't find the parasolid data. I have the latest update in mastercam x9
I had his save the file as a step and and iges and I get the same result. Part of the fillets are missing and really screwed up.
well I thought I figured it out. I can't see the attachment on my edited post.
Also whenever I try to open a .sldprt file it says it can't find the parasolid data in solidworks file.
I can't get the file to attach. It keeps saying "you aren't permitted to upload this kind of file"
Could someone post a screen shot of their "settings, configuration, converters" page that works good. It seems like I always have trouble converting parasolid files. I always get some faces missing or some fillets missing or screwed up. I'm getting these from my solidworks guy. Thanks
Tim
I figured out the problem. I had it set to use rest material. I think that it doesn't need to helix in if there isn't enough stock left to cover the full width of the tool. As soon as it gets to an area where it does have a full width cut it uses a helix entry motion. Thanks for all the help.
It seems like I've always had trouble getting my area roughing toolpaths to transition into each cut. It won't helix in or ramp. It just plunges right in the middle of my stock. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, Please help.
We use walter titex drills but I can't find the sizes I need. I need 11/64 and 15/64 probably 20 x's dia. Does anyone know of another manufacturer that would have these. Thanks.

Does anyone know if the carmex thread mill listed above has taper. When I use their app "taper" is not checked. I'm assuming it does even though it's not checked.
Also, is the speed and feed I get from their app for one pass, if so, could I feed a littler faster if I'm cutting the thread in 4 passes?
Ok , we have two different plugs. One of them is about .5 long and the other is .4. Our baffles are around .4 as well. So If I mill the threads around .425 deep this will let the plugs and baffles be installed just below the surface. Thanks for all the help.
Carmex's thread mill app says to go 10.375mm deep which is .4085. I guess I will go ahead and get the tool and try it in a scrap piece of aluminum until I get exactly what I want.
Thanks for the help.
Our 3/8 plugs and baffles have approximately .5" of thread. And we like for them to be under the surface when installed. So I wouldn't think that milling the thread to .41 deep would be deep enough. Am I missing something?
I'm wanting to thread mill some 1/4 18 and 3/8 18 npt holes in p20 for coolant lines and baffles. Would a carmex thread mill # mt3312c06 18npt work ok? I'm worried it may not go deep enough. according to the info on their web site it only goes .58 deep. I have very little experience thread milling. tia
