I have the same problem everytime myself also to add to Kannons question is there anyway to lock the tool number and offset number that come up everytime a tool is called for a operation or is it always sequentually? Reason I am asking this is cause if my 4th tool is actually tool 3 in the machine when I change it in my paramters it reverts back to the actual tool that was called up third in my paramters and can't switch it always editing programs
It takes money to make money and Tony you should have told yur boss he could of had matching GT's if he spent a few bucks and got adequate tooling with the range of indexable tooling on the market and teh competition in inserts knocking the prices down why does anyone still use endmills except to sidewall cut?
And on what tools should the company provide anythig that is a cutting tool files drills cutters etc. Measuring tools should be the machinists responsibility and if it is broken on accident I think the owner shoud pony up for a new one but if the same bonehead is going thru 3 verniers a month then the onus shouldbe back on him if he should know these cost money he did pay for the first one and if he doesn;t respect it his tough luck. With the way technology is changing though a yearly tool allowance would be nice to keep up with productivity. Every other skilled trades are required to own there own tools why shouldn;t we?
well Parity error refers to odd even parity and framing error is
when the receiver doesn't see the right amount of time between the start
and stop bits for the baud rate that it thinks its running at. If one side or the
other is running a little too fast or too slow then you will see this error Another possiblility is noise.
At 16 thats impressive only thing I was building at that age was a lil black book list and a hole in my dads liquor cabinet follow your dreams and don;t ever let anyone tell you something can't be done. Cause anything can be done we just may not have the knowledge yet to do it. Just remember safety especially running this thing for the first time
I agree with jmparis considering Mastrcam also comes with CimcoEdit which has a built in dnc function that should cove any issue on size for nothing more then the cost of a cable and the downtime setting the parameters

Regardless of attitude, I think we all know, in this trade if you don't know what you're doing, you don't last.
Paul you should met a few of the toolmakers here had one yesterday that couldn;t figure out if a tightened bolt was metric or imperial and this guy has over 20 years
The way I kep it straight is I always either use wear or computer when programming then the operator can use a set up sheeet and not have to worry about it also I have standardized my tool carousel to number the tool from biggest to smallest using the thinking you will use your biggest tool to rough and smallest for final cuts to help keep it simpilar. When using cam software and with all the indexible tooling out there don;t see why anyone would program off a centerline of a contour. All features with tolerances get wear and all roughing applications just use the computer setting in Mcam
