  1. I just want to add up more information. Some body did this worm on cnc lathe, so it is possible. secondly as per customer told me that insert have to grind so to have 25 deg per side to meet 25 deg persure angle critiria. Than he said that holder also have to give some angle too. I know 4 start path mastercam can give. I hope this little more information will be helpful.
  2. Hi everybody I never cut the worm gear on cnc lathe and now I have to do in one of the job. Please help me how I can program and what type of holder-insert will be required. Here is the data : 24 diametral pitch, worm lead & lead angle quad( I guess it mean 4 start),Lead .5236",Lead angle 18 deg 26 min,Right hand, outside dia 0.5833, Pressure angle 25 deg I know there must be many help who did cut the worm on cnc and I need the help to do this job. Any help will be appreciated. thanks
  3. Hi everybody Is anybody using Xtremecut 230 coolant? Is this coolant better than Trim 206? Any Information will be helpful Thanks
  4. Thanks every body for their input and it help me lot to clear my question.
  5. Thanks, gcode Now how I bring back the history ?
  6. Hello everybody How can I convert my solid model to solid brick so I can avoid ruined the solid in case by mistake I deleted some of the drive geometry? Also how can I put back in case I need the solid history again to do any changes in the model? Is this the proper way to avoid accidental deleting of the drive geometry? Any help will be appreciated Thanks
  7. Hi everybody When I draw a line in lathe for example at .4999 dia. and when I analyse it, it analyse as 0.5 so what setting need to change so it read exact? Any help will be appreciated Thanks
  8. Hi every body I am working on some Al mold and it need some polishing work to remove some tool cusp. If any body can guide me what type of polishing tool they use and where to get? Thanks
  9. What represents Plate and what represents the flat bar? This is my main concern.
  10. Hello everybody Alum per QQ-A-250/11 TEMP T6 OR T651 (REF: AL 6061-T6 OR T651) This looks to me Alum Plate. If any body can explain which code represents the plate or flat bar and which represents the heat treatment of the material. If this is plate than what code represents the flat bar? Thanks in advance
  11. Varification problem, when I am varifying each operation of surface toolpath and saving each operation as a stl for the next operation than after few saves (4 or 5) when I use my previous stl as a stock and varify the next operation it varified with no problem but when I go for save even my speed and quality slider I put it low and stl tolerances I increased to .01 but still it give the varify fatal error and ask for lower down the qulity speed. Any recommnedation please? Thanks
  12. From the reply of you guys now I am confident to start machining the part as the programme proceed and not to wait till whole program is finished and varified. One more thing I came across and I should get you guys thought that when You have model if it is solid that I felt that I was very limited that there is no thing as the check surface and only thing is left is to use the boundaries. So how you guys approach, Do you change your model first to surfaces or you think boundries are enough to limit the toolpath?
  13. Goodmorning everybody I just want to ask 3d surface toolpath guys that do you trust that much in 3d high speed toolpath that you can make first tool program and see the varification on the screen and right away cut the part and the mean time when part is machining you make the next roughing program and machine it not waiting for to complete the whole program first till the last operation and do varification. So do you trust the toolpath which did roughing is not already taken off the negative material in some area and when the finish toolpath come their is not enough material to clean up?
  14. Ocean, That's a good idea. But if for example a flat surface at the bottom and you create one other surface on the letter area as a simple flat boundry surface to overlap that small area than don't you not need to trim the bottom surface to that small flat boundry surface to join the surface. My other thing is when you said treat that flat boubdry surface as drive surface but does not be that surface as a check surface.
  15. Here is the letter. This is .03 deep from the surface. Every character of Cambria font is with the width. Please suggest the approach // Thanks
  16. How I can get single lines character for cambria font so I can run the tool on the top of the geom. Currently with my setting I am getting double line character.
  17. Hello Jay Letter is .03 deep and I saw from the letter shape inside width is from .036 to .026 I guess, have to use some small flat end mill. Depth and width is impartant to get the imression in the part from the mould. Please comment
  18. Hello everybody I usually machined the letter in MCX(BOX)fONT Which is always single line and the tool goes on the top. Now the job I am working have cambria font which is double line. This is also in the mirror image. Now the double line letter, Do I have to pocket each character with smallest tool or there is some other way to do it. Pleas if any body suggest thanks
  19. Do any body else have this type of problem? When I do varification, it works good but when I go for to save as stl it give message as"Fatal error occured in varify/simulation. Please try again with reduced image quality..." This problem is very annoying especially when you need the stl file for stock to check your operation. Any idea please thanks
  20. Hello everybody High speed surface toolpath on taperfaces came out to be very good and now I am working on the main side of the cavity. This model is solid model and I used as the wholebody for picking up the geom. Now one problem I am getting when I go to small tool it is going to do some lettering which is on the floor. I want to avoid the tool to go to do letter. I can limit by z value as it suppose to go lower in some other place. I can not use check surface as I selecting the whole geom as the solid and this geom is keep copying for the next and so operation. Please any body now the trick to avoid the tool to go that area Thanks
  21. Thanks Collin, I read your post late. I am machining the block now and I used Surface high speed waterline for roughing and finishing. It is running now the finishing toolpath and I will see at the end. My other problem for machining this face was that all the faces of the model have many cut holes on all 4 faces. This model came as a brick and I could not able to see the solid tree. This type of situation what you guys do? My other problem when I checking the toolpathe and the tool was also going on other side of the face also. I didn't know what I was doing wrong and I get rid of by playing with many parametes til I got the result. If you guys know please let me know what is the trick. Please put some suggestion in this thread because there may many people who are the starter for 3d machining may be this will beneficial to them. Still lot to machine in this block so I will coming with more questions and hoping for the 3d guys to give their suggestions. Thanks
  22. I guess I did not put complete information. 3 faces are 5 deg and 1 face is 7 deg and than necley blend at he 4 corners. So i have to go for 3d toolpath
  23. Hi everybody I have very less knowledge of the 3d toolpath and I have one 3d job to machine. I need you guys help if you can suggest me which toolpath I should go for as I will start machining the part after half an hour. Your help will be highly appreciated. I have a mould to machine and have outer dimn as 8"X7" and 2.5 high. Material is al. First operation I have to machine in 3d toolpath is the all the 4 faces of the block. All the 4 faces have the 5 deg angle face. Please if any body can suggest what tool path I should pick for roughing the faces only and finishing with the other tool with other option. Tool for roughing: 1" with 4 round insert Finish toolpath: Please suggest the tool Thanks in advance
  24. Hi everybody If some one can suggest me which plastic material will be good for machining a part which have many walls and fins .04 thick and .250 high? Thanks in advance
