  1. We run our shop on E2 now. We have 4 mills and 6 lathes. As with any new software there is a pretty big learning curve. At first the owner and I thought we could do it all along with the quoting and programming but to get full use of E2 it just took to much time. We finally hired a secretary and had her learn the software and it has helped the flow of the shop alot.
  2. We mostly use mazatrol for programming our mazaks so the operators felt it was easier (on them) to keep using the mazatrol tool data page, so that is why i have to use control when i do program for them. Its a pain though if I have wrote a program for our haas and then deciede to run it on the mazaks because i use wear with the haas. I have been wanting to try to drip feed to our mazaks, what software do you use for that and was it hard to setup? I have cimco here now that I was going to try with.
  3. If you are using Mazatrol tool data you have to use "control" cutter comp. We have had this problem in the past. You need to be sure and have at least a 56% lead in too.
  4. Matt, Your not able to print just those tools though are you? If i highlight a op group, or just an operation and hit setup sheet i do get just those ops, but not able to get the tools right? John, If you just make a new file for that operation group, then you have to go in and delete all the other ops and the tools that aren't used manually?
  5. I'd like to print out a list of only the tools used in an operation group at times. Is there a way to do this? I use the x+ setup sheets.
  6. Strange, but my deviation is set to .0002 and I just found out my part is off by about .012. After looking at the chain compared to a chain I created by "curve all edges" I could see that it was way wrong. I just created another one with the chook and it was alot closer but still off in a couple areas. Learned that one the hard way. Thanks guys!
  7. I was under the impression I could use that chook to make a contour chain around a solid model but now i've found it doesn't follow the model very accurately. Is this chook not for toolpathing or is there a setting to make it more accurate? Does anyone else use this? Thanks.
  8. Good Morning, When I try to use a chook I get an error "The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest" then i close that and get "The appropriate Mastercam .net support dll could not be found". Could someone please point me in the right direction to fix this. I did a side by side install and migrated. Thanks
  9. I was just going to show the part in the vise after op1 and print it out for the setup sheet. I really don't need it but i was trying to learn how to work with an .stl file. I wasn't sure if thats the only way they would come in as wireframe or not.
  10. I verified a part on op1, saved that as an stl and then file merged it back into my file so I could show the part in my second op, however it isn't a solid its just lines. I then read the help file and tried to xform stl it into my file and it shows up as a solid but when i hit the checkmark it askes to save it as binary or acsII, i said yes to binary and it goes and saves it but the stl disapears from the file? I tried acsII and clicked bounding box, the box stays but the part is gone? What am I doing wrong? Thanks
  11. I have tried a couple different files but I can COPY and paste ops from one toolgroup to another but if I try to CUT and paste I get an error "an invalid argument was encountered" and then I have to shut down because I can't select any processes. Anyone else have this problem or do I just need to copy and paste and then delete?
  12. When i create a curve from a solid it makes the geo on holes in halves instead of one circle. Is there a setting that would make it a complete circle?
  13. If someone doesn't i believe you can get one directly from haas.
  14. I would like to see that also if you don't mind. I missed that last topic somehow and didn't know it was even possible.
  15. Weve been using it for a couple years but its taken quite awhile to get up to speed on it. We have a secretary who has learned it all. The inventory side of it is nice. The scheduling side of it is the hardest, were still not using it yet. The owner does all the quoting here, he shoots from the hip also on quoting, I was wondering how expensive that MES software was and if it really worked.
  16. Is this the company your talking about? Micro Estimating Systems? http://www.microest.com/index.asp We use E2 shop control software, does anyone else? It looks like this would work well with it.
  17. Good Morning, I copied the folder from the ftp into the chooks folder, I don't see the X+.ft file anywhere. I tried going to what you said above John but X+ isn't in the catagory column but it is in the toolbar column, but doesn't show up on my screen anywhere. When i load my customized toolbar state it has made a blank square where it used to be but no icons in it. Any ideas?
  18. You better play nice John or you could end up looking like this...
  19. There are always several ways to skin a cat. Thanks for all the input, I really enjoy reading threads about how guys go about making parts. I have learned a ton from this forum, I would be lost without it.
  20. Thanks for the info, what angle, speeds and feeds would you use on that? (3/8 3 flute alumimill) It defaults to 3 degree's is this good? I would guess I won't be able to go as fast as normal since there is the corners to deal with but i've never used the contour ramp process, it looks good though.
  21. I have a 1" thick piece of 6061 tooling plate with a 6"x8" window with .125 internal corner radiuses. I usually would pocket this out but read here where some of you contour the slug out and would like to try that. (is countour ramp good?) What methods do you guys use when pocketing or contouring aluminum when the internal corner radius is .125? I run into this all the time, some parts are boxes with 3" walls, with them I usually rough with a carbide 3/8 3 flute and finish with a carbide 2 flute 1/4 but have problems with chatter in corners trying to run a decent feedrate on the flats but the sudden direction change is obviously not good. I have been leaving about .03 on the walls, then restmill to within .01 stepping down .125 and finishing with a slow feedrate (2000 @20) steping down about .75 The change at point feedrates don't seem to work because there is only a point there for it to change. Sorry for the long post, but I know there are some great machinist on here and would like to see if there are other options for this. Thanks.
  22. If your on maintenance do you get X2 or is it an extra charge?
  23. Can anyone tell me why I get the error "Deleting a referenced entity geometry used in a solid" sometimes when I am trying to translate a solid I have created from one view to another. (3d translate) Also I wasn't able to pick the solid with the window, just the geo and had to use single to pick the solid? 24. Our Mazaks stop at 200 too. Will this work for them? They were all made in 1994-1996.
  25. Sorry to bring this up again, but I fixed 2 of my post and my last one is the mpmaster and it looks alot different in that section. Would you mind telling what line to fix in it please. pcomment2 #Comment from manual entry spaces$ = 0 scomm$ = ucase (scomm$) #1005 - Comment option 1 #1006 - Comment option 2 #1007 - Define comment with output line #1008 - Define NC parameter comment #1026 - ? if gcode$ = 1005, pbld, n$, pspc, scomm$ if gcode$ = 1006, pbld, n$, pspc, "(", scomm$, ")" #Comments #if gcode = 1006, pbld, n, pspc, scomm #Codes if gcode$ = 1007, "(", scomm$, ")" if gcode$ = 1008, pbld, n$, pspc, "(", scomm$, ")" if gcode$ = 1026, pbld, scomm$ if gcode$ <> 1007 & gcode$ <> 1026, e$ spaces$ = sav_spc
