  1. /agree with Rickster. Somedays I just hate my life for using software this easy. Wish my 5 year old could use it...I suppose she will have to wait until she is 6
  2. Pardon my ignorance, but how does one edit an MD while not on that MD? Maybe that right there is my problem? /confused
  3. Said in the beta, what seemed like years ago, and will say it again. COMPLETELY USELESS and waste of any productive time. Will it give you tool paths? Yes, will they be right? Questionable. Are they EFFECIENT? A HUGE NO! Never, ever ever in my 'trialing' of it could I possibly use it. The jobs I tried it on I could prolly do (inculding run and program time) in 4 hours. FBM would show me like 19hours! WTH! Junk... JMO tho
  4. Ok, so it turns out the are sticking...just not coming up for some reason unbeknownst to me. If I load a Machine Def, and check the Operations Manager, Properties, Files page, it shows all the Mastercam defaults with my machine def. NOT the ones I have input. If I got to REPLACE and just hit the green check, it reloads that same def and changes nothing. If I go into the Machine Def. Manager and change nothing, but rather just hit the green check, 'Do you want to save', yes, 'Do you want reload this machine def' (Paraphrased), yes' And check the Ops Manager, Properties, Files page... Everything is there. WHY?
  5. I hate this crap. Some things are so easy to do, and yet when you want to do something simple like set this up, it can drive you up the frikken wall. On a normal basis I cannot get the .Operations or .Defaults to stick and the tools do. Today its the opposite. I am happy that they are sticking, but I want it all!!!!!
  6. Hey All, Working on a new MD/CD & post. I have got the Operations & Defaults files to stick and load with the MD, but the .Tools file will not. It is specified in the 'General Machine Settings' tab in the MD manager, but always comes up with the defaut.tools file from another folder. Gonna pull meh hair out! TIA for any help.
  7. If I am changing my Control Def. I have set it to do 'Allow Full Arcs'. When I output it gives me IJK values even tho I have it set to output in Radius. But the lead in/out will be in R's. Now if I set it to disallow full arcs and break at half points or quads it will give me R's instead of IJK. Why is this?
  8. In X3, X4 and X5 (shhhhh!) when you go to edit a Machine Def. you get the VERY annoying box that says 'Your Mastercam file has changed' Save?' Even tho its a new file with the default machine loaded right into it... There is a checkbox somewhere to turn that off. Anyone recall where that is?
  9. Position tool in front of part at X diameter. G91 G1 Z-(distance) C360. Rinse and repeat as required?
  10. Doing some mods to meh post to better reflect how we want our machine to run (without editing). Got it all tuned in, but it drew me out a problem.... Here is my code; code: N1 ( 1/2" DETLA 3X DRILL ) G50 S3000 T0303 G97 S1146 M33 M90 G0 G54 C0. G0 X11. Z-.56 M8 G98 G87 X3.75 R-2.5 F11.46 M89 C180. G80 M9 M90 G0 W10. M5 G28 U0. M35 M30 So, the X11. is diameter on the machine. I put this in my Drill Op Clearance box as 11. X3.75 is diameter on the machine. I put this in the drill depth box in my Drill Op. R-2.5 is a radial incremental value. What I input into the Retract box is 6 (being diameter) and it takes the (11" - 6") / 2 and puts a negative on it. This code is flawless. Problem is when I put these numbers in now the verify is showing at a radial X11. (actual X22" diameter). And cuts to X7.5 which doesnt visually cut the part at all. How can I make this work better to what I am wanting to do? tks
  11. Any other ways? I am fairly sure I have done this in the past at some point in my mastercam job life, but darned if I can remember, and I know that your way, John, wasnt it. All be it, that way I fiddled with and would work as well.
  12. Thanks John, that would be why...I dont have it! /cry
  13. To create a tapered wall, lets say using Contour or Swept 2D but not have jagged step overs. By jagged I mean if you post out you will get a circle, then likely an X move up the next step diameter and then a Z pluge. Can this be done (without surfacing...) to just have a continuous taper/helix? Tks
  14. Why is it that I dont see the 3D HST's in the list?
  15. Thanks Saipem. Doosan fails at life, that is all I have to say for this rediculous usage of code. Thanks for all the responses.
  16. Darn it, I thot I mentioned that it was a lathe, but I see I didnt.... BTW: This is for a lathe We are on Fanuc Code System A on this machine (per most lathes). There is no G90/91. This is done so that said lathe(s) can use U & W.
  17. Hey all, I am running (well, not me...) a Doosan Puma 400LM with a Fanuc 21iTB control. When we are using the live tooling to drill holes (BHC's ect) the R on the drill cycles line is an incremental move to the start point. So this: X0. Z1. M8 G98 G83 Z-3.51 R-3.0617 F6. Would result in the drill starting at Z-2.0617 and then drilling to Z-3.51. This is really annoying and is really stupid to have it this way. Wondering if anyone knows how to make the R absolute like every other machine.
  18. Martin, we use the same OSG long series drills and they are fabulous. No pecking! We use Exocarb Max Oil List 5270 drills. The book says for SS, 1/2" drill 20x - 30x, 1100 rpm, .01" - .014" feed. Now, bear in mind that do do this, you must pilot this drill with the same size, bring this drill into the pilot hole at a reasonable rpm (100 - 500), then wind it up to full RPM and punch it! On lots of our larger diameter drills we will run them at full speed cause the RPM isnt high (like the 1/2" drill). For small ones we use like 3/16" the RPM is much higher and without being stabalized in the pilot hole first, the drill will just snap off. GL!
  19. How about a 'number of times viewed' kinda counter so you know if someone is even reading your thread or not? This would be handy in the beta forum for the speed at which things move in there ;P
  20. I didnt read all, so sorry if this is a repost. On other forum I visit, they have the option to delete a post made by yourself (only) or even your thread...again, provided you are the creater of said post/thead. The ability to add our own avatars instead of needing to upload them to someone else to put on.
  21. Why dont you take the info from said spreadsheet and retype it into another document to put up on the wall? That aside, that is only theoretical isnt it? Different inserts create different surface finishes at different speed/feed rates... Or is this just like a reference thing?
  22. I have setup all of my config and other such dependant files all on one of our network drives. Basically it 'should' (although sometimes it has problems) react the same way, you just specify all the locations of said files in the network location instead of on your local drive. You will need to update things within Mastercam thru areas like your MD/CD and other such places. I have found its not a perfect system, but majorily works. I have a particlar lathe post that will load the MD/CD, Tool file, Operation Defaults and Operation Library's perfectly off our network. And yet another one I have will load all but the Op. Defaults and Library's no matter how hard I try... Not perfect (for me) but it allows all 5 of our programmers to access the same files all at the same time. HTH
  23. Tool Path. Sorry, I look now and see its actually titled 'Operations Manager'...for some reason I have always called it the Tool Path Manager...my bad. So the (short) answer being no leads me to believe there is a longer more convaluted answer equalling yes. Care to elaborate?
  24. /sigh. Why cant one ever get a straight answer on this forum anymore. Btw, if you didnt catch the seriousness, I'v had a very very bad week.
