  1. Hello All, I cannot change the corner radius in that dialogue box. It seems to default to half the diameter. The cutter I need to use is 1.75 dia, with a corner radius of .375 and looks exactly like the picture above. As I said when i first did it and told customer we can machine this part, it worked fine. Still can't figure it out. I will gladly share the files, please tell me how. Lee.
  2. I can't figure out how to upload a picture, but could send you one. It has the path on it. Lee
  3. Hi Mark, I have no idea where the parameter is for allowing undercuts. I changed the default lollipop file to suit my tool. Lee.
  4. Hi Mark, Yes I am using finish contour and think i've tried most of the settings with no luck at all. funny thing is, first time no problem. Lee.
  5. Hi Guys, I'm hoping someone can put there finger on my problem. When I first told my customer I could do this, I drew the tool and the job and presto, exactly as I thought it would be a perfect toolpath. Now we have the job to do, it will not work as it did before. I can't get it to verify either so i'm scared to run the part. it's a simple internal pocket that is shaped like a hockey rink ( oval ) 1/2" deep, open with a 16.7118 degree twist, so that two corners are undercut. The tool will go in but when I backplot it looks very strange. The path should constantly go down in z and gradually twist as it does. The profile is constant as it goes down so that path should just twist, but it doesn't. WTF. Help Please. Lee
  6. Hello All, I save to the local drive. still slow to save. Lee.
  7. Hello All, lately i've noticed something weird going on with mastercam. When it's doing it's Save function, things lock up for almost 30 seconds. Either the main window or the operation manager displays not responding for this time and it is frustrating. My computer is no slouch but still it happens. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated. Lee.
  8. This probably sounds lame, however where do I find Dynamic Toolpaths? Lee.
  9. Dan, I played with Trich toolpath in mastercam but couldn't get it to work unless I went down to 5/16 cutter and even then the other settings had to be reduced to get it to work properly. Thoughts? Lee.
  10. Thanks Guys, I am a total newbie to milling steel via cnc. Grey, Not sure how to get a 0.1 WOC as it is a closed pocket?? Pocket is radial at 0.432 wide and full radius at the ends. I understand I need depth of cut increase this will help on time and tool life. so thx for that. Just not sure what the best toolpath is yet.???? Lee.
  11. Hi Dan, I played around with trochoidial cuts and oh boy does it ever bring my time down. I used an entry point and a 1/4" cutter, seems to work well on the computer. So, will cutting full depth on 3/8 thick not bother the cutter as much as pocketing it out with depth cuts? I guess the corner is the weak link on the cutter? Lee
  12. Hi Dan, Thx for your reply. The cutters are coated with TiAln The corners were sharp. I was using a ramp of 3.0 degrees. ( it was the default setting ) The 3/8" cutter is cutting a through slot of 0.436 wide and radial about 95 degrees. material is about 3/8" thick. The 1/2" cutter is cutting a through slot of 3/4 by 1 1/4 and material is about 5/16 thick. Lee
  13. Hello All, As some of you know i'm not new to this forum and woodworking via cnc however Milling via CNC is a relatively new venture for me. I just ran a job in what I belive to be 4140 material which is fairly common around here. I am using solid carbide 4 fl End Mills, in 3/8" and 1/2" diameters. after running the job I have severe corner rounding on both cutters and wondering what I am doing wrong. 3/8" EM, 20 IPM 2000 RPM Depth Cut 0.045" 1/2" EM, 13 IPM 1520 RPM Depth Cut 0.055" Coolant for both FLOOD. Any help would be greatly appreciated TIA, Lee
  14. Did you use any oil or mist coolant?
  15. You beat me to it. Just updated driver for space pilot and voila. Issue resolved. Thankyou all. Lee.
  16. Update 2. Just unplugged Space Pilot.. Issue resolved. But Why? Lee.
  17. Update. I changed to a different keyboard just in case something was a miss with the wireless one. Same issue. I really hope someone has an idea. Lee.
  18. No I haven't changed anything that I know of.
  19. Hello Everyone, I haven't used Mastercam for about six months and now I wanted to do some drafting it is acting up. The graphics are constantly rotating and the program is mostly unresponsive to mouse and key board. Both have new batteries and are working seamlessly with other programs. As far as I know nothing has changed except that it has changed from working to not. Does anyone have an idea? Lee
  20. Lee.

    file types

Parasolid works really well for me.
  21. Why don't you redraw your pocket to incorporate the ears, this way when you rough out they will be there already. Finish the same way. Just a thought. Cheers, Lee.
  22. Travis, You should at least try the solids. It would be real slick. Create solid that you are going to machine nest into. Position part into solid block Then do a boolean remove solid op and your done.
