  1. My vote is for the Fanuc Robocut. We have 3 of them, nice machines.
  2. If you use the template file you can open it in mc and move the origin? That being said I'm not sure how your layout can be moved to match the templates new location.
  3. Could someone show me an example program of how the g code is setup for tailstock in and out? face center drill tailstock in turn od tailstock out We just started using Mastercam in the lathe dept and we are lost on this one. Is there a parameter we need to set to use g code for this? Thanks
  4. Save your long burns for the night time, run your short burns in the day. I have made different size stainless v-blocks and alot of fixtures. Its nice to have a vise check out www.gromax-usa.com One of the hardest things about wedm is holding the parts... Being efficient in wedm? "With wedm experience comes efficiency"
  5. Installed X4 today Old x3 time 4:58 New x4 time 1:26
  6. You will have to change your geometry to get a constant land around the cutting edge when you have a contour like that. I cut a round part that had a step with a radius that was right in the middle of a wired slot with clearance taper with land on top. I had to back off/make smaller my profile geometry untill I was getting a land in the radius area... Its not easy and it will take some practice cuts to get right.
  7. I'm looking for information on communication/dnc systems that are available? At the shop I work at we have several Mastercam seats each one hooked to a few cnc machines where we use a manual switch box to send and recieve programs.
  8. My pc seems slow. 5 MIN 32 SEC Dell Precision T3500 XEON W3520 @ 2.67 GHZ 3.00 GB RAM NVIDIA QUADRO FX 4800 XP PRO [ 02-13-2010, 09:30 AM: Message edited by: Jack Straw ]
  9. If you use both thread and cut the chain order is important... Chain in this order chain thread point chain the profile chain cut point
  10. Del I sent the part file to you.
  11. Im doing it with 4 axis. The direction of taper vector is set to 1.
  12. I did my first taper program with Mastercam this morning. My problem is the taper is running the wrong way in the machine? If I translate 3d bottom to top then the Mastercam part file looks upside down but the machine runs correct? This is a Fanuc Robocut... Thanks
  13. Inside Solidworks you have a choice on saving models "Draft Quality HLR/HLV" or "High Quality HLR/HLV" If saved as "Draft Quality" it will import into Mastercam as a spline. Our Engineering Dept. started saving as Draft Quality to save space on their file server and I started having this spline problem all the time.
  14. C:mcamxcommoneditorsCIMCOEdit5CIMCOEdit.EXE
  15. I have had that same problem in the past. I would save as .dwg instead because I didn't have to have dxf.
  16. I have been running 2 fanuc robocuts for about 5 years. The fanucs seen pretty good. I ran an older Brother before the Fanucs and I didn't like it that much.
  17. Mastercam just added the slddrw to the list of files it can open. Makes it nice for my edm area to use the 2D slddrw files.
  18. They are SW2006. I did try to open some random files and they are working now? I also installed the Direct Conv. - Mastercam X3 Direct for Solidworks Maybe that fixed it? I have another pc I have not installed the Direct Conv. on yet. I will try a file that crashes on there then install the Direct Conv. and see if it fixes it...
  19. My X3 will crash when I open a solidworks .slddrw I was really looking foward to using some of these 2D .slddrw files for my EDM work but X3 will crash everytime.
  20. What GCODE said was true for me also running through Cimco
  21. Thanks for the heads up on that one. We have many users here and this happens once in a while. Driving me nuts LOL
