  1. I was wondering what people used to engrave part numbers there parts. We usually use center drills. Plus how fast and deep are you going for steel and alumimum? I have tried ingraving bits but they tend to chip the tips. Just wondering how others are doing it. I got to believe there is a better way than a center drill. Thanks
  2. My question is if I use the M94.2 in my programs do I have to cancel them at the end of the program to go back to my defaults. And is the example below the proper way to do in the program? Thanks 1) Along with the M94.2 a. The R1+# represents the Deceleration value. b. The P# represents the Acceleration value. c. The Q# represents the Detail value. 2) Along with the M90 the P# represents the Gain value. 3) The F word in the program will establish the feed rate. EXAMPLE: M6 T1 (TOOL #1, 1 INCH ROUGH EM 3FL G0 G90 G8 S12000 M3 E1 X-.6 Y-.5 H1 Z-.5 G4 P1000 M94.2 R1+40. P10. Q.01 M90 P120. F120. Machine Setup 1) From the command mode, type SETP and press the ENTER button. 2) Press the space bar to the second page of the SETP menu. a. Cursor over to BINARY BUFFERS. b. Select 1) 15 Doing this reduces the look-ahead buffer. When altering the AFF parameters on-the-fly, the changes become effective almost while the changes occur. Suggested AFF Settings Rough Cuts: 1) To use this setting, program with at least .005 stock on all surfaces. 2) Gain—100, Deceleration—400, Acceleration—10, Detail—.005 Semi-Finish Cuts: 1) To use this setting, program at least .002 stock on all surfaces. 2) Gain—100, Deceleration—400, Acceleration—10, Detail—.002 Finish Cuts: 1) To use this setting, program with at least .0001 surface tolerance. 2) Gain—100, Deceleration—400, Acceleration—10, Detail—.0002

  4. I have a VF-2 Haas Mill and it leaks coolant out the back thru. the oil overflow in the back. Has anyone incountered this before and if you have what was the fix. Thanks in advance.
  5. I was wondering I have a older Fadal an 1997 with a 88hs controller on it. My question is it has only 422k memory on it. I was wondering if any one has every upgraded the memory on main board them selves? I would think this is very possible. Just wondering if any one has done this. Thanks

  7. That is the same controller Im running which is cnc 88hs. Im just trying to figure out what I am doing wrong on my haas to make it such a slow surfacing machine. I am in mo means saying your wrong Im just trying to figure out what im doing wrong with my haas. I even tried set my setting in the haas to rough and turning my radius up to .01 and still no difference.
  8. This surprises me because my 1997 fadal kicks to snot out of my 2009 haas when it comes to high speed machining. The haas just chokes up to darn near ridicules times as the fadal just machine with out alot of slowing down. I tried the high speed option on my haas but that didnt really help all that much.
  9. I was wondering how when you start your first tool path in a program it comes up with a box that says enter new nc name. My question is how do you make it just default to the file name? Thanks

  11. I was wondering if anyone used a program that would give you stock yield. Say I have a piece of steel that is 24" x 24" and The pieces I need to cut out of it are 6" x 6". The program would figure saw blade thickness and then tell you how many pieces you can get out to the stock. Also It shows you how to arrange the cuts to get the most out of the material. Thanks

  13. you can offset the slot .05 so the path is in the middle. Then do a peel mill and pick the offset path that is in the middle. Then in your page set up pick a single chain then in that box tell it what size you want the slot to be. There is also an option to do a finish pass. Here is a video on youtube that shows you how to do it.
  14. The E value that is the rounding radius, what does that mean? Like my finish value is .004 is that the error that it can allow? And what should the finish,medium, and rough be set at?
  15. I was wondering if any one knew what g code you uses in a program to set your rough passes to a rough finish in your paramater settings? Then when you do a finish pass set the paramater to finish again. Thank you.

  17. Yes they are the black ones. Newbeee how is the Concentricity on them. The holding power is what Im really interested to see. Nothing worse than when an enmill gets dull and starts to pull out and ruins a part.
  18. Yeah I was waiting for that one, But you have to do what you can with what you have I have a rep coming out from Schunk this Thursday and bringing out a new holder they just came out with. Sounds impressive the rep said the er have around 140 lbs torque and the new ones that are hydralic are 900lbs and will be true with in .0001 all day he said. I guess I will find out. And the price is the real kicker the holder is only $199.00 and the sleeve is $79.00 that almost seams to good to be true.

  22. As of lately I have been getting into alot of high speed machining. As of right now I use er collet holders. I think they are good for simple machining but for high speed machining I think they lack. My question is what are other people using that they like for more rigidity and better holding power. I have a brand new haas v-f2 40 taper, and a 1997 fadal which is pretty much as new as my haas. I just had it totally rebuilt and I mean everything. So Could I get some ideas what other people are using for better idea for holders. Thanks
  23. well I would say your using a good chuck. I think im going to get one myself as I have always thought the er series limited me alot. Now I have to find me a vendor in my area or call there site. Thanks
