  7. there is a file on the ftp site that jay worked on called kevcadcam.mcx with a 3 axis substitution in it that works sweet for undercuts
  8. I would like to see this as well if you dont mind guys...Jay actually solved a problem for me and i would like see more examples of his expertise
  9. take pictures of machine setup.....put part on ftp site....just adding to tpreb6's advice...dont be afraid to overinfo us ...well ok maybe bad advice on that part...lol
  10. Adrian (our Lathe Guru) has been working on an Okuma LB35 that came into the shop 8 yrs ago now and swears by it...thing hasnt missed a beat ...keeps his .0002 tolerance and its been going min 18 hours a day since it hit the floor
  11. i thought i might try something that im going to use called rest mill...your face mill had 4 planes on it and i created surfaces from that...with the leftover sides and made it into a pyrimid box i then toolpathed that with a ramped surface contour and used that as a (reference only) for the rest mill and it actually follows the material that was left over from the face mill took me a while to think it out but tis doable...i have put it back on the website in the ftp X folder under 4X4rest.MCX...you may want to tweak it
  12. in other words redraw the two surface together?
  13. Here is a stupid one ....im trying to pick 2 surfaces that are side by side and the direction of cut is opposite to each other when i check the flowline data...is there a way to edit the data individually so that they are both going the same direction? and cutting as one...if not can i join them as one? im trying to do something like this note that it is cutting each surface independantly
  14. Sweet...Thanks John I have just been adding tools as i go on here with Ver X....this just saved me a whole lot of work
  15. really old old version of MC9...but if i squint really hard at the screen i can pretend it is X...i just import the model into X all the time now as i did with MC9 It is one of many that we had drawn with different vices and fixtures on the tombstone so that we had all the locations and we could program with one absolute X0 Y0 Z0.....The circle is broken up into 4 quadrants so that we can use that as our reference height and retract when we program from vector to vector...ie front, back... etc...
  16. ahhhhhh...ok then so flatten the part with a hammer till its nice and smooth on the screen and the run a cutter along it?...then it will rotate around properly in the transform...gotcha!!
  17. +1 on ya guys and im supposed to be on lunch....lol
  18. that workes here ..i use that all the time....even though i have a 4 axis ...im used to 5 axis machining and well...maybe its a personal thing ...but i dont roll the tool too much or use the rotary functions unless i really have to...put a snippet on the ftp site and we can compare notes if you wish
