  1. I am very anxious to see some of Bob's programming techniques. He reminds me of a guy I used to work for that also programmed and ran his own machines.
  2. Are they numbered tool #1 and tool #2?
  3. Oh, I forgot to answer you here. We are kind of going on a play it by ear schedule. It's been 3 weeks and some people I think are still programming. RayD had his done before I was done modeling the part It took me about two hours to program it I think because I lost some work when Mastercam crashed on me and I hadn't setup my autosave yet. A few of the others here are still learning to program parts like these so they are using our examples to learn.
  4. Oh cool. I will put the HLE on at work too then.
  5. I think it needs to be installed on a PC without Mastercam on it Bob. I guess we could ask... does anyone have the Home Learning Edition installed alongside a licensed copy? I realize most of us would attack this stuff differently depending on if it were production or prototype. I went at it as though it were small runs and just designed some soft jaws. Others on here just did a one off and didn't do any fixture work in their programming. I am anal about fixture design, so I hope to get some good examples thrown into some of these programs we will be doing. But it's not a requirement that these be programmed complete or even have a fixture design in mind. I think it will be best if everyone completes as much of the part as they have time to do. Just keep it fun. And I hope everyone can come away with a few new tricks. I know I have already
  6. We aren't taking these parts too serious Bob. It's just a way for us all to share some programming techniques. If you look on the FTP there is a folder for the group. Currently we are putting all the files there. Webby is working on some things to make this a lot easier and hopefully more organized. Will keep you all posted. Good to hear. It was a lucky guess
  7. When they first bought this Dell OptiPlex that I am using now (i5 processor) we were running on the integrated graphics card. It actually didn't do too terribly bad unless you tried to verify a complex surfacing path. Parallel stuff was ok. Not great, but livable.
  8. An old timer showed me that oil trick cutting some hardened stuff on a Bridgeport. It works pretty good.
  9. A big +1 ^^^ In our experience here the Garr's are a bit cheaper and perform just as well as the Hanita. But both are kick@$$. If I were to guess, your RPM is going to be closer to 1600 and the feed around 15 IPM. You may even try to run it conventional.
  10. I just emailed the answer man, and Scott Opel is who replied. The model is very good. I am not sure if I would be allowed to share it on the ftp or not. I will ask.
  11. I had to uninstall X6 and reinstall because the tool library somehow quit working in X6. That was pretty good Red.
  12. I emailed Haas and they actually sent me the model in STL format and a parasolid. If you PM me your email Gary I will get this to you.
  13. That is a pretty good deal. But the video card they could keep. And the memory is only 8GB. The hard drive is a standard platter. Throw a Quadro 2000, 32GB of memory, and a raid 10 array with a pair of SSD's in it and you are right back within range of what I spent on my PC. And it's still a Dell Would make for a sweet gaming rig though if you dropped a GTX card or two in it. Edit: Oh wait, can the XPS line even do SLI?
  14. I had to wipe the registry to get it to work again if that is what you mean. A simple uninstall and reinstall did not fix it. It seems to be working again so I am going to keep plugging away with X7.
  15. I imported a few operations today and there were toolpaths using a 1/2" and others using a 3/8". The 3/8" didn't import in and instead it used a 1/2" endmill which would have scrapped the part had I not caught it. Then, shortly after that X7 crashed and I had to wipe it off the system and reinstall to get it working again.
  16. So kid, did you get your screen fixed? How is your PC handling this stuff? By the way, good programming guys. I like the simplicity and the finished result. Bill really makes me feel I spent a bit too much time programming
  17. X7 Did this to me today. It was working fine. I had two instances open to copy some programming from one to another. I used the export then import features to bring the toolpaths into the new program. I had a model for soft jaws in the source program that I also wanted to copy over. As soon as I did that the destination program crashed. I restarted it and it immediately crashed right away. Did that a few more times. So then I tried to save and close the source program and it would not close. So I forced it to close and when restarting it would just immediately crash. Uninstalled then reinstalled and it seems to be working again.
  18. I just uploaded SledGeek's file to our folder on the FTP... IDLER BRACKET - BILL.EMCX-6
  19. Wow, I just looked at that MCM. Very, very nice work!
  20. LOL. well, you already had it posted here MCM so it makes no difference It will be ok. It will be like some of the customers we get models from here. Some are very nice, and some are freaking terrible.
  21. Select the operations you want to change the coolant for. 10, 20, or all of them. Right-click the selected operations and select "Edit selected operations". There is a coolant setting there that will affect all selected operations.
  22. That's funny you suggested a guitar body because I was looking at the guitar models on Grabcad. Sounds like a good one to try next. I will start a new thread for this... Thanks!
  23. If there were a reason not to upgrade to X7 I could understand. But to not upgrade is ridiculous because there are so many improvements over X5. I have tried to learn as much as I can with each new release. It makes absolutely no sense not to upgrade. ESPECIALLY if the company is on maintenance.
