  1. In Cimco I can set it up to remember the last save location. So it always defaults to my Flash drive. So I just click Save As, then OK. Can this be done in Code Expert?
  2. Haas has this nice little setting COOLANT>>>IGNORE.
  3. Oh. I just assumed it was there (replied from home). My bad.
  4. I just threw those up there for consideration. I want to let everyone finish this before we move on. Any of you guys having trouble with this one feel free to throw up some models or blueprints of something you would like to try.
  5. Right-click in the operation manager window and select "Display Options"
  6. Wasn't I reading somewhere that a few of the tool manufacturers have already put together tool libraries we can download and use in Mastercam? Ahh, I found what I was reading. It was about the already included Iscar and Dapra stuff. Wonder why Garr and the rest haven't jumped onboard with this. You would think if all the tool manufacturers built a tool library for Mastercam it would make it easier for programmers to use their tools.
  7. Ok, so thinking along those lines using Tool Plane X Axis a value of 180 would be an approach from the left. But in my sample program it comes from the right. Just the opposite of what I thought it would be. Why is that?
  8. Anyone ever used Photoshop? When you setup a blending option like a drop shadow there is a simple to use little dial (like a clock) that you use to tell it the direction the light is coming from. You can enter in polar coordinates. Would be very nice if Mastercam worked the same way.
  9. Every toolpath is different. I have always machined by ear instead of using manufacturer data or chip load or SFM. I watch the spindle load and listen to the tool. I have a standard set of tools for aluminum and one for steel. When I create a new tool I throw numbers at it that will get me cutting a chip. Then I adjust at the control until it sounds right. Then I save these numbers to the library tool to get me close the next time. From then on I make adjustments in the toolpaths. If I am trying to move a lot of material I may grab the manufacturer data to get me started and I plug that right into my tool parameters. But very rarely is that the numbers I end up with in the control. There are way too many variables. Part rigidity. Machine rigidity. Tool holder used etc. So I don't spend too much time plugging in values that almost certainly will change at the control. For example... I have been using the same 2 flute 1/2" endmills for years. I have times when I run it at 60 IPM and 6500 RPM. And there are times when I am upwards of 12000 RPM and 300 IPM. So no, I do not use the calculator.
  10. Open it with Notepad. It is in C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\my mcamx7
  11. I would like an explanation of exactly how the direction setting gets it's coordinates. Because every time I use it I think I know which direction I need to lead-in from and I always have to change it.
  12. Ahh there it is. Somehow I missed that in the webinar yesterday. Thanks CamMan1
  13. I have mine working great. Have opened a few problem files and verify is sooooo much better now. Have done the xml tweaks to lock in my desired precision and speed. All is silky smooth and super fast now. To everyone having trouble, I know this is a pain. But the help to get your stuff fixed is right here in this thread. And it is worth the little extra to get it straightened out. X7 kicks butt.
  14. This thread has turned into the comedy club. kdgrills wins cause that's some funny chit right thar
  15. Ok, I set mine up exactly like you CamMan1. Is there a setting in X7 for the Moves/step and Moves/refresh as in X6 verify? Because my verify in X7 seems a bit choppy like I have these set to 20 or something. Edit: I guess it is just because it is running so much faster and my PC is a pile of... well lets not go there.
  16. I went into "my mcamx6" folder and deleted the 4 mw******.ini files. Then I ran update folder in X7 and updated my folders. Dumped my keymap and toolbar files into my X7 folder and updated the config to use these and selected my default machine and control definition and everything is working fine.
  17. So you are saying you didn't completely Beta test the software?
  18. Maybe everyone in Beta ran the migration utility before this error was created in the programming. Just a guess of course. But seems easy enough for something like this to happen. I am just continuing to use X6. I have X7 installed without any of my configs and stuff setup in it so I am playing with it. And it works just fine. I will just wait 'til a maintenance update to migrate my configs and stuff over. I used "Update Folder" instead of the migration utility by the way. And I still had these same problems. Is this the same thing as the migration utility?
  19. Create a rectangle and do a one pass facing toolpath Or how about a point to point. Pick the centers of the arcs.
  20. Maybe you got lucky it even worked the first time. I would have done this using gcode's example from the start. I assume you have your compensation type set to computer and your lead-in and lead-out is off?
  21. Have you tried a flowline toolpath? With that tool it should be no problem. Or as Bob said a contour will work as well.
  22. The ODE is the one to use. Check your driver version and post it here please. Did you see where I asked if you could show us the file? If I could see it and verify it on my PC maybe it would shed a little light on things.
  23. Oh I see now. Misunderstood your post mkd. That's really cool.
