Version v1.3
This project guides students through basic and more advanced 2D geometry commands. Lathe toolpaths such as face, rough with semi finish option and cutoff toolpaths will be used to machine the part. This is a Mastercam X8 Single Project. The Single Project series offers a wide variety of engaging projects that can be purchased à-la-carte in eBook (PDF) format. These projects range in difficulty but are generally targeting beginner-intermediate Mastercam students. Each of these projects can be machined. Difficulty: This project requires Mastercam LatheFrom $25 -
CNC Software produced a new page that outlines both minimum and recommended system specs as well as which operating systems are supported. You can find the system requirements page here. A few things to note: Mastercam X8 requires a 64bit operating system. Supported operating systems include Windows 7 x64, Windows 8/8.1 x64 The chart leaves processor selection open, however, having at least a dual core processor will help immensely as Mastercam is making better use of multi-core hardware. The minimum monitor resolution is 1280x1024. Note that some widescreen laptops that use 1280x800, 1366x768 or even 1440x900 do not meet the minimum height requirement. If you have questions specific to your situation, feel free to ask in the forums.

This is a free utility written by MTB Technical Services that generates the cycle data correctly for whatever thread you need. It's especially helpful for tapered threads. It's the perfect companion to the Vargus TT-GEN app and can only help people get more comfortable with G76. Keep in mind that this utility is just a simple little tool for properly formatting the output from the data you enter. If you're cutting anything other than a standard UN/ISO Thread, you'll need to know the proper radial thread depth. The input fields will evaluate expressions so if you have a 4-Pitch API thread you can simply type 1/4 in the input field and it will evaluate to 0.25. The Taper angle will also evaluate the trig needed based on the known taper per foot. For an API Thread with 2" of Taper per foot, you can enter atn(1/12) or atan(1/12) to get the actual per-side angle value. I wasn't sure whether to pin this topic or not - I guess pinning it meant it got missed: http://www.emastercam.com/board/topic/78088-board-issues-read-this-please/ The "new look" came out of necessity. The old skin wasn't compatible and we needed to do upgrades across the board. There were enough changes between versions that necessitated starting from scratch, so yet it looks different but it's not a huge departure.

In case you don't frequent the Community Center, here's the lowdown: Board has been upgraded which prompted a slightly updated skin. Blog post here. If you are having issues, it's most likely because you need to clear your browser's cache. There's a topic about this already here. If you are testing your ability to use forum functions, the best place to do that is in our Test Forum here. As for any other bugs you may encounter, if a topic hasn't been started for it yet, please do so in the Community Feedback forum here. Webby
