  1. I have mine setup with "operation type" turned off. I name my toolpaths (using the comment box) according to what they are doing for easier managing later. because of that, Showing operation type is redundant info. That will eliminate your problem. Example: Spot drill 10-32 holes (you know at first glance it's a drilling cycle) It takes a little extra time but I find it much better in the long run to spend the time up front. 2. I have Inventor but I don't use direct Inventor because of the multi-MastercamX button bug. Also, I don't really see any advantage to having Direct Inventor installed when the right translator is available. Mastercam could read the .ipt and .iam files directly with no issues. I guess my question is.... Why can the files be translated with direct Inventor but not without it? Can't it use the same translator? If direct Inventor works wouldn't it be reasonable to think Mastercam can translate the files? Next question. Has the bug I stated above been addressed for Inventor 2009? 3. I haven't been able to open any yet either. As far as I know there is no translator yet. We work with surface models in Mastercam so we just export .sat files from Inventor.......works great for a temp fix.
  4. This one is good: http://www.emastercam.com/cgi-bin/ultimate...t=013424#000000
  5. Murraymold3, If you run the Verisurf Reverse installer again the errors will go away and Reverse and holeaxis/note pad functions work. -Mike
  6. I have that error too. The c-hook seems to have corrupted our Verisurf Reverse install but the note pad works well! . I have an e-mail in to Ernie about it.
  7. 14 min 45 sec P4 3.0 GHz 1Gb ram Quadro FX540 Win XP pro quote: Scary thing is that this is a substantial upgrade from the laptop they had for me when I got hired!!!! A freakin hand me down old a$$ desktop... [Mad] [Curse] I hear ya on the hand me down lol! My new hand me down is coming up soon!! WooHoo!!
  8. Mastercam v9 and X2 MR2 run very well on a macbook pro. I did not have time for an enormous amount of testing but I ran a few operations and setups on a dummy part with no problems at all. We set up the mac using Apple's bootcamp software to dual boot with Windows XP therefore running Mastercam natively in Windows but on Mac hardware. I did not notice any difference compared to a windows box besides the new Macbook being one slick machine with the back lit keyboard and all. I also did not have time to run the benchmark like I had hoped but have no doubt it will as well as most PC's if not better per the hardware specs of the machine. In the near future,I will also be running tests of parallels desktop,VMWare and CrossoverMac to investigate running Mastercam within the Mac interface. I will also benchmark those test and post my results. SO, the answer is yes. Mastercam will run on a mac.
  9. gonna be testing tonight.(on a Macbook pro, not a Wii, x-box 360 or etch a sketch ..lol) will report back with my findings. wish me luck!
  10. Ernie, Is everyone else using the same installer I have?
  11. It's working here The stl filter is Sweet!
  12. If you have access to version 9, you could use the stl2surf c-hook. I can't find any evidence that it's ever been modified to work with version X I've used it a couple times and it worked for me. I keep V9 installed for just such an occasion. You can find it on the ftp site. HTH -Mike
  13. I use contour toolpath also. I don't have the engraving add on.
  14. Did you create your letters using: CreateLetters? If you did, you should be able to window select them all. That's how I do it. Make sure you have "3-D" selected in the chain manager instead of "construction plane" even if the letters are 2D or they will not select.(Might be a bug) HTH -Mike
  15. Is it the model(.ipt) or drawing(.idw) that you are referring to when you say "Inventor file"?
  16. just bring the part in as Surfaces and wireframe and you will have no problem. If you really want the solid you can bring it in again on a different level and just use the wireframe from the surface model. I don't have solids so I only use surface models out of Inventor and I have had no problems.
  17. Thanks dude I see it now justification for a bigger monitor......priceless -Mike
  18. Please help!!!! I've made a few custom tools for this job. one of the other tools was a radius profile cutter(corner-round) just like this one only smaller and it worked fine. No matter what I do with this one it keeps giving me this error: "problems with custom tool file or data" I can't figure out how to put the file on the ftp but I can e-mail it to you. thanks -Mike
  19. Pete, Thanks for the info. On another note, I used the above fix and it worked but only temporarily. Now the MastercamX button is duplicating in my Inventor tool bar again. Is that patch supposed to permanently fix the problem?
  20. Glad I could help Malibu. Unfortunately,I don't think this will be the last you see of this problem It worked temporarily for me, now they're starting to duplicate again I would still like to just uninstall it. It's such a waste of time!
