Looks Like I will chase the hole with oversized 1/2-13 , the thread doesn't look to bad. I was thinking the same thing keenserts is the other option. ( better than driil / plug / weld / redrill & tap )
Yup.....
I talked to the tool supplier he is also upset ( so he says ) at the Manufacturing Rep about this. When I talked to the Manufacturing rep yesterday his response about this was ( is a sarcastic voice ) Well what do you want me to do about this.
Maybe I'm at fault for not checking the tap ? but at least be apologetic and offer me some free tap's or something...
I put it to the Manufacturing rep like this.... Go to a gas station and you fill up on Gasoline but get Diesel fuel instead should I taste the fuel before filling up....
Anyways I got me some holes to fix....
Just need to vent a little,
In my not to long years of Manual and cnc Machining career ( 20 yrs ) I have never come across a tap that was etched wrong.
So to make my story short...
Ordered a new Line of Tap's From XXX Company for a new job I'm starting ( 1/2 -13 ..3/8-16 ...5/8-11.... etc... )
I tap to depth on the machine so no hand tapping required.
so for 12 days I go on and machine 12 plates, job complete ship plates
I get a call today that my 1/2-13 tap holes are no good, how's is this possible ?
After a little research my expensive 1/2-13 tap is actually M12 x 1.75 the tap is etched wrong straight from manufacturer.
Came in the right package..
So I was feeding the M12 x 1.75 on the cnc at 1/2-13 calculated feed rate.
I have never checked standard size tap's, go figure a new line of taps that I try out and get Screwed in doing so...
What a freaking mess
arrgggg. not what I need at the end of a week....
Hello all,
I have 2 seats of Mastercam X8, For some strange reason one Computer rebooted itself
and when I reopened mastercam my right button on my mouse doesent work anymore along with all
my Visual fonts have changed also.
Since both computers are set up the same way what files do I need to transfer over to get my setup that I have on
Computer 1 to Computer 2
I hope this is clear.
Thanks in advance
I have a Awea SP2016 CAT 50 10 000 RPM Glass Scale Machine for about 2 1/2 years. I have had no problems with it. I also own a Awea BM 1600 C frame machine also no problems.
Hello all,
have a little problem, when working with a plate that is all surfaces and curves I start off with the top side. I check in the view manager
that I have it selected it's good.
Now when it's time to do the bottom side.
Then I continue on the bottom by selecting the bottom in the view manager but it wont stay selected, It also displays in the bottom left coner
Gview Not saved (iso ) WCS Bottom t/Cplane: bottom ( not Saved )
What am I doing wrong.
thanks in advance John
Hi all,
I have been reading this thread and the debate between Makino and Haas Price versus Quality / Rigidness / Power issue. I think every machine has it's place in the market.
When you look at Makino's machine in discussion there is without a doubt it is the best ( for now ) Machine for it's size and money.
This is the only Machine that Makino makes that the price point is on par with other machine builders, so I give full credit on a great machine for the size and price. When you look
at Makino / Okuma / Okk / Matsurra and other good quality Machine builders and their larger machines the prices are a LOT more expensive than Larger Haas Machines.
I have only been in the trade for about 12 years and I have seen a lot of good and bad machines, this thread could of been about Makino vs Dah Lih / Awea / Takumi / Jonford / Hwa cheaon etc ...
and it would have been the same outcome that the Makino out performed them all.
Remember, this Makino machine just came around it the last 5yrs I think. so the best Value 5yrs ago might have been Haas and other tawainese machines regardless of what is capable today.
This thread should have been titled look what my new Makino can do, it kicks butt. To the people that have Haas machines and other brands this is just a eye opener what Makino's entry level machine is capable of doing.
BTW I have 2 taiwanese machines ( Awea and a Takumi 50 taper ) they are larger machines and they suit me fine. If I needed a small 20 x 40 Machine I know I would buy the Makino in a heart beat.
I have seen the Ps95 run so it's not just this thread and the video posted, it's a great machine.
Makino if you are looking at this thread I could use an entry level 40 x 80 machine for about $225 000.00 cnd.
