  1. What has worked for me in the past is to go to the Z axis screw itself and turn it a few times. Then try reset/restart and see if that clears the alarm out. Kind of wierd but one of our machines does this every now and then.
  2. too bad its a 100 mile Plus commute for me,Im in Riverslide. Hmm manual machinist with mastercam experience, got both of those:) Wish I could but good luck in your search
  3. ROFLMAO on so many of these. I recently quit my last comfy job so I could go back to setting up machines instead of programming, setting them up and running them. I enjoyed programming and would go back in a hearbeat (just not to my last employer) There aren't many employers that are asking for programmers lately. After I was asked to come work for my current employer, I asked the owner if he worked Saturday's and if so what time does he start? He said they start at 8 am. I told him that I would see him then and that I will work for free for one day. I wanted to see what kind of a shop I was getting into before I quit my other job where I couldnt get fired from, yes I tried. I hated working for people who won't pay for the software and that treated there emplyee's like animals. But besides that I just wanted to let everyone know that it goes both ways. Sucks to go from great job to one where it sucks the life out of you. But at the new job its a short drive as opposed to 2 hours. Besides the bosses are nice guys as opposed to slave hearders who think that there parts are going in orbit in space and that every dimension should be within .002 even if its 150 inches long. LOL rant mode off. wish I could find a place that ran Mastercam and Actually paid for it (Pet peeve) Ok Ok rant mode off again. BTW Rekd how did you want that block squared up? Just using the vice and a Square or a vice and a dowel behind one face that was previously machined. Wierd but I have seen it both ways and I am sure that there are tons of different ways of squaring up a piece of matl. and that I am just beginning to to learn after being in this field for 15 years 13 of it as a manual machinist making investment cast molds.
  4. Haven't ridden my bike on the road since 93. After spending most of the day yesterday on yard work and looking in my garage. I start thinking "Now its time to get it street legal again " Been too long since I have been on Latigo Cyn to Mulholland to Stunt road. Have a beer and watch the sunset. Or most of the Angeles Crest Hwy. Still snow up there though which makes for some really great rides.
  5. I just hope MJ brings some poeple into the sport. We can always use more positive views and fresh money err sponsors into this sport. Come on they are putting there life on the line for what the winner might take home. Its Probably less than half of what the last place finisher in the Daytona 500 won. Lets see 200 mph with only leather and plastic protecting your back side from walls that dont move. Rovals arent meant for motorcycles and I wish they would move the LA race back to Willow Springs!!!!!!
  6. wonder what Kenny Roberts Jr. is doing these days? My vote is goin for Muguel and to hoping that the tires don't have the chunking problems they have had in the past
  7. ya gotta realise that the news channels in So Cal will call two sprinkles on the windshield stormwatch 04!! Besides some people freak out when there is a light sprinkle and start building an ark
  8. Old programmers never die, they become more chips on the scrap pile of life
  9. isknander, Kindgom come did put out some good songs but unfortunatly they got too much negative aiplay saying they were zepplin clones. I add to that "yeah so they put out some great songs" Saw em live durning Monsters Of Rock in L.A. in the mid 90's (Dam im gettin old)
  10. I get to program, set up and run the parts. I rarely ever scrap one I am just curious on when you feel like you are a good programmer. Right now I am starting up on 4th axis learning with a book and starting from scratch again. I never saw CNC run until I programmed one However I was a machinist/moldmaker for 10 years. Now to find someplace in So cal to help figure out the 4th axis stuff, That scares me. First time I posted something I saw a feed rate on the A axis of F370 when all of the other feedrates were f60. Gets kind of scary when your the only machinist in the shop. When something goes boom everyone looks at you funny.
  11. Translating to IGES I have had too many extras show up with it. Save it as a SAT file then have Mastercam translate it and it should come in fine. Sean
  12. or you can save the Inventor as a SAT file then use Mastercam to translate it. Yeah I know he wants to be able to directly import an Inventor file but SAT also works
  13. I used to make investment castings all of the time. IfI am correct we used 1.025 for the OD on brass and 1.028 on the ID's. Sean
