I also use to create points with the solid drilling toolpath. I posted this question a week or so ago.(see FBD vs Solid drilling On 10-03-08) Apparently the FBD does not create any geometry like solid drilling did. It is a huge problem here with no solution coming soon. I have one machine still running X2. If you use X3 then I was told you had to create your own drill points. I hope this helps a little.

I have a fresh install. It seems X3 has the same bugs X2 had when it came out. I am pretty disappointed with the new version. It didn't really improve it kind of went backwards.

Has anybody experienced this while importing operations? The tool numbers and the height and diameter numbers don't match? Also,when you renumber the tools it doesn't renumber offsets? Thanks

Check your cut depth limits. If they are set to zero it won't create a toolpath.

I would ask your stepover and depth of cut. If it is .02 stepover or less in aluminum or softer steels I don't think you would notice the convention cuts vs. the climb mill cuts. It will shrink your cutting cycle. I would take the time and try the zigzag. I never use one cutting direction. Good luck.

Hi, That is an issue I brought up with my reseller at our seminar. The more complex the toolpath the longer the time to create a set up sheet. According to him X3 does it faster. There are somethings you can toggle on or off. If you have a maintenance provider I would ask them.

Does anyone have the problem I am experiencing? Sometimes the selected geometry does not highlight showing it is picked. Sometimes the auto highlight does not work. I am running X3. Thanks.

I also have issuses with the renumber tools command. I guess we have to fight until the first service patch. I am sure it won't be long until it is posted.

Did anybody else use the points generated in solid drill for creating an independent drilling operation? Do you realize with the FBD there are no points created? Would anybody like to see solid drill added back to X3? You can manipulate the FBD, but it is extra work you never had to do. I think they took a step backwards in this area.
