Hello, Anyone having issuses while creating drafting notes? On one of my boxes it froze up. When I re-booted X4 would not load. I had to re-install it. It just locked up on a different box.

I have seen the same thing! In the gcode it actually says "repaired nci" I thought we would have less issues with x4.

Don't feel alone. I also crash while creating letters. It doesn't matter which font I use. Come on X4!!

Use shallow doc and use ball endmills to leave radii in corners to keep vertical walls strong. They will also have a better finish because they won't be vibrating.

Just putting my two cents in. 75% of my crashes occur creating letters on a large file. I have learned to love the phrase "unhandled exception error". I am going to try that out on the wife. I'll keep you posted how that works out!

Hi, I've had the same issue here. I tried a repair install, but there was no difference. It is a pain in the ahrs.I am going to try and do something with the dll file. If I have any luck I will post it! Thanks! -
On the surface finish parameters page in gap settings you have the option of direct, follow surfs, broken and smooth. I am curious as to which is the best to use. Currently I have been using smooth. I tried follow surfs today to see if there was a difference. Any replys would be appreciated. Thanks

Jay, Stay at it. Randy is right. I had a new guy start on X. He had an easier time because he wasn't used to things being so different. Three years later X3, although can be quirky at times is better to work with. I would like to see solid drilling come back in X4.

Hello, On your screen menu choose regenerate display list. It should make it so the geometry will highlight. It seems to be fixed in the MU1 update.

Hi All, Does anybody know how to switch properties in the operations library? I want to switch from a generic mmd to my Haas mmd, but I can't find it! Any help woould be appreciated. Thanks.

FP1, Watch it when you use multiple machine groups and keep your eye on the useless red arrow. I have had operations show up in the wrong machine group twice since the MU1 was installed. The system doesn't like to renumber tools very good either, so keep an eye on that too.

Hi All, Is anyone else experiencing a problem when you have multiple machine groups? Twice since I installed the MU1 an operation was placed from one machine group to another. One was a transform and the other was a contour.

Hello All, I can't tell you how disappointed I am with the MU1 release! They didn't address the FBD. It creates some many operations! The operation tree is huge. You can't sort or consolidate any of them. I wish I never switched over to X3. Does anyone have a 6 year old I can have program my parts with FBM & FBD?

If you go to screen select regenerate display list the problem goes away until X3 feels like it. Then it comes back. I assigned it a key map so it is quicker to fix and less annoying. Another process X3 seems to have fouled up.

Hi, Does anyone know how to sort which way the holes get drilled in FBD? It seems like it sorts them by hole depth. Is there away to get them into one operation like solid drilling did? If I have 100 different hole depths I end up with 100 operations in the operations manager. Thanks in advance.

My opinion is X3 is a step backwards. Where are the improvements? I don't see any major steps forward. The system needs constant screen rebuilding. Renumbering tools is a crapshoot. Sometimes the operation manager and the tool manager tool list don't reflect each other. Overall I am pretty disappointed.

I am glad I'm not the only one who thinks FBD is a joke. It recognizes some of the holes that are the same size then says it can't drill them. Be careful when you regen. If you have operations that you add after the FBD, but you want them prior to the drilling it regens with FBD ops first. I agree 100%! Why put out a product that is 1/2 operational.

Simple 2d pocket facing leaving an island?

The 2D pockets take longer to process than they did in the past. A simple pocket with 6-10 islands @ .012 deep with a 3/16 endmill inside a 4" x 5" pocket takes close to a minute to process. Just my two cents! -
Go to key mapping in the settings drop down. Go to the key mapping drop down then select catagory then screen. You can assign them there. Good Luck

I hear ya! I have had issuses with my selected geometry not highlighting or trying to select geometry and it doesn't highlight to be selected. I was told to "regenerate display list". Why I never had to do it before. I think they added keystrokes and tasks that never had to be done before. I guess we have to hang in there until a patch comes along.
