  1. a couple more thoughts: toolpaths that involve chaining drive c/l or tip of tool along the chain perpendicular to it and only maintin "tangency" parallel to it via diameter comp. As gcode says if you need 3D tangency use a surface or wireframe toolpath. In 2D all tools comp to their effective cut diameter. The only tool type that supports different OD and effective cut is face mill.
  2. Did you try just disabling the canned cycle in the control definition without modifying the post?
  3. Only one path can be specified. keep in mind also that the control def pathing trumps the settings in configuration....
  4. I think it would be best to go directly to Nvidia's website to get latest/greatest driver....
  5. three possibilities come to mind: 1- If its a display issue, check settings/configuration/shade settings/chord height. The default is .002 Try switching to .0002 (...what we use on our Training systems) 2- Entry/Exit of thread mill can add helixes at start & end of path which can optionally be linearized 3- If your machine def/control isn't set to support helixes all motion will be linearized
  6. ...and this is only true in posts written for X or later with the "read from MD" or "read from CD" logic in them....
  7. ...which is something I hadn't thought of, but may be even better; it would protect you if the guy running the machine forgets to fill in the tool dia....kinda like using wear comp vs. control comp on a cnc/g code machine
  8. must be in the post.... look at rotary settings ...set rot type to 0
  9. also check that the entity sttribute msnsger isn't active, and that shading is using entity color, not material...
  10. Yes Chris, the tool table in the proto uses full diameter...
  11. A couple things: Q1: what version of mastercam? (V9,X,X2,X3,X4..) Q2: what specific proto control? (...looks like the MX2, rite?....amber screen, 2 axis control on a kneemill?) when you make milling ops do like Chris says, and additionally: - always set comp type to Control - make lead in/out line at least equal to radius of the cutter (i.e. program w/ 1/2" endmill, lead in line .25" lg..) with comp set to control the corner rolling is supressed & becomes a non-issue
  12. Do NOT install a demo version and a licensed version on the same computer. The demo uses some form of hasp emulation to run in its special "save disabled" mode. When a true (read as licensed) install launches one of the things it does is look in the system registry for indications of pirated software. I have seen all kinds of bizarre behavior on our customer's computers when they've installed both...against our advice.
  13. ....reason being the toolpath transform doesn't update stock the way true lathe paths do....
  14. bad news - toolpath transform doesn't work well for this.... good news - grooving in X4 supports multiple chains
  15. check the misc values in the op for biasing preferences....like JP said it's all post driven....and check the orientation of the tplane you're using, rotating it 180 around Z might work...
  16. if you're windows XP: -click start menu, select run. -type regedit in the run dialog you'll get an explorer style tree window -look in HKEY CURRENT USER and HKEY LOCAL MACHINE for subfolders called software. delete any subfolders of those called "cnc software" or "mastercam"
  17. One of the real killers (in Mass anyways) is workers compensation insurance. Rates are based on "payroll exposures" and audited to death. I managed operations at a shop for 7+ years. To make it brief; this year you get busy and give your guys overtime. next year your insurer jacks your rates because of increased exposure. Then your guys ask about raises for all their hard work with no mishaps last year. how do you tell them that the money's in the pocket of a desk driving parasite because of your legal obligation to insure them just in case? I despise the insurance and financial industries precisely because they profit on fear, no facts. then the guys get p.o'd and think the owner's being cheap and the morale starts to go down... A tough situation all 'round. No disrespect to anyone posting here as an employee but If you haven't been an owner you don't know what it's like....I liked the line about loss sharing - when things are good the owner gets rewards, but he's ALWAYS responsible for whatever goes wrong, whether at fault or not.
  18. submit the fle to your reseller. they should forward it to CNC.
  19. sorry. let me elaborate. just un-checking the bookmarking box isn't enough. dis-able all viewsheet options in the upper window section.
  20. what topic is that under in the configuration?
  21. a new driver was released for the Quadro FX570 on 6-17-09...just loaded on our classroom machines....system maintenance day...defragging, etc...noticable performance gains, even on initial launch
