  1. Yes. Or you can lead with a small line leading into an arc then into your circle HTH
  2. What kind of a machine? Cutter size ? Dia. of cut?
  3. Scott, Our 12 Haas VMC's all work without any extension. The newer VF-5TR will output with a .nc extension, but does not require a extension to read from a thumb drive or the DNC server. HTH
  4. I don't know anything about Miltronics control, but don't you need a G98 or G99 in your first line with the G81?
  5. did a search and found this. HTH search results
  6. Bump: Any updates on how the NextEngine scanner is working out?
  7. I have X4, but my maintenance ran out before mu3 came out.
  8. Big thanks to Trevor and all who had advice for me.
  9. Ahh.. but that's the problem. The inside wall isn't flat and a line between two points would be. mmmm... more coffee...... Thanks
  10. Nevermind I answered my own question. No you can't. Looks like I have to try something else.
  11. Nick, Do vector lines have to be straight to use 5ax curve? If you look at the end of the yellow shaded area the wall has a curve blending on the sides to the corner rads. I have some toolpath verified with 5ax curve and it looks like it's a powerful tool, but can it be used here? Thanks Brian
  12. Nick, The problem I'm having with this part, aside from not doing alot of 5x surface work, is the bottom at the back corners is wider than the top. It's hard to see in the pic. My bottom geo is made of curves but the top boundry is a spline that won't simplify. I'm going to try to draw geo on top of the spline to match and then maybe I can connect the two with lines to use. Thanks, Brian
  13. Jimmy, Is that using 5Axis Swarf or Curve? Thanks Brian
  14. Thanks Nick, Would I use a chain at the bottom for the 3D curve? And I'm guessing I would have to construct some geo for tool axis control.
  15. Hi all, I'm trying to get a 1/4" ballnose to cut the surface shaded in yellow following the 1/4" rad at the bottom with no luck. I've tried 5axis swarf using drive chains and that has gotten me the closest to following the bottom, but the tool gouges in the 'z' along the back wall and lays off the 'z' as comes to the front. I created curves on one edge using the intersect of the 1/4" rad around the part to the side wall then did a project to flatten it for the bottom chain and using a chain around the opening for the top chain. this is to be machine on a haas vf-5 trunnion. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
  16. Still don't what I did wrong with my photobucket pic.
  17. Thanks Heed, But Vince got me pointed in the right direction. I was trying to do a multiaxis path with a 4th axis tool path. Duh my bad.
  18. Sure can. On it's way. Brian
  19. Hi all, How do I go about getting a 1/16" corner round to go around the face of this part using the geo. shown . This is on a haas 5c 4th axis. I've tried using axis substitution but I'm not getting any movement in the Y axis , only in the Z & A. I'm know doubt am missing something but I don't know what.. Any help will be greatly apprecated.
  20. Rick, I brought in a surface file and created curves on all edges and I can see my geo in all views. I just installed mu2 last friday and everything seems to be ok for me. I had mu1 in for a afternoon when it was first released but had too many issues with it. HTH
  21. I like that I installed MU2 today and it's working for me.
  22. Thanks gcode. My currrent pc is a Dell Optiplex GX620 that I had before I got MC. Our company leases from Dell so I should be able to get what's on the Dell link or close to it.
  23. Thanks John. I didn't know if more functions would mean more ram.
