  1. Oops messed that quote up! Check twice huh? LOL
  2. About 17 years ago, we set up a shop running a 20hp K&T CNC w 0M controls and motors, Ikegai SL-25, B'port w/0m, Hobart Welder, 2 Man B'ports, 1 Man lathe and hooking up the machines we built (high speed food and medical packaging machines). Never experienced any problems with any of the CPU equip (all on battery backups just in case). This had a crazy leg as well if memory serves correctly. But I concur, get the 3 phase if your going to grow and run a phase converter. Go with the 3-phase machine, and a Rotary converter (Static converters don't work on CNC's). I run a 40HP rotary on my 3 axis mill and surface grinder and I can rigid tap with no trouble. I know a guy with the same converter running a Mitsubishi Wire EDM and several manual mills and grinders. quote: It is important to always hook the the 3rd leg from the converter to the 3rd leg of the mill because the generated leg always has more voltage than the first or second and you can damage the electronics otherwise. You can spend more money to balance the voltage, but it isn't really neccesary.
  3. quote: You know he really isnt a god, just dont tell him that though. What? Are you sure!?!?! Don't rain on my parade dude! ROFL! A legend in my own mind!
  4. quote: The only way? How about using edge curves to create a solid that fills the pocket, then boolean add them together. Then modify the pocket geometry to suit and boolean subtract. Sorry, stuck on another thread where the guy didn't have solids....ooops!
  5. quote: Have the customer make the required changes and then resend. Safer for EVERYONE!I concur! IF you have to change it, the only way really is to make surface, and then make the changes to them. It Sucks! Just a simple man with a simple plan! 6. quote: 3rd option get Espirit and be done with Mastercam when it comes to doing this type of work???? Gotta love this one! I hate Esprit ! I HATE IT, I HATE IT! I HATE IT! ROFL huh Hardmill? LMAO Forget everything you ever knew about programming before you even try to use it or you will fry your brain trying to figure out why you can't get a toolpath correct! They do make pretty pictures of the machine! It's a tough choice, keep struggling with Mcam or learn a new package that can do the job. Yes, it does work correctly and much better than Mcam for Multi-Spindle, Multi-Turret machines. What machine do you have? Just a simple man with a simple plan! 7. quote: Welcome to it Multi Beta testing is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're gonna get I should be used to it after doing it for more than twenty years. But alas, still the same frustrations!! LOL Yes, Volumill got back to me right away and we were able to sort through the problem quickly. The program conflicted with another software that I have and loaded over its own version of a dll. I don't remember if during the install that it asked for a directory, but it probably did and I probably just glanced at it. I have X and X2 and it installed all of its files in the X directories. A little frustrating, but at least they got back to me right away, so I'll give kudos for that! Thanks Evan! I haven't ran that part yet and won;t have time today. After I do, I will let all of you know how it turns out. Pictures of what I am trying to accomplish with this are in another thread asking about highfeed machining option and constant velocity/SFM machining. Coinckedink for the timing? I think not! 8. You shouldn't have to creat a profile. When you pick your path type (i.e., Lathe Finish) in your selection box, pick solid and it should outline your model extents with temporary "wireframe geometry" for you to path the same as chaining. If this isn't working, you may have more than one solid on the screen or a bad model. If so, after importing your model, go to Create, Create Solid to 2D Profile and it will process your model (give it time) with an outline wireframe geometry to chain. Make sure you are in the top view and your part is laying correectly for lathe work before doing this. Make sure for the solid chaining also that planes are correct before proceeding. 9. On your system, does it find the model for stock that you have created? For mine, I have to use an .stl for it to work correctly, it won't recognize the stock definition for my part. Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
  10. Doesn't scan NCI take care of that. Mine goes to the depth of cut in the file? Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
  11. I have tried to install your client trial software. 1. It doesn;t show up in my Mastercam 2. It has corrupted my system. Please email me ASAP to correct this matter. Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
  12. My problem seems to be when running it on a simple 2-d contour, it increases the feedrate as the material to cut gets larger, where you would theoretically slow down the cut? What type of cuts are you doing and does it appear to be working properly? Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
  13. quote: if so, do you have three tabs when you pull it up? I am specifically questioning X2-MR2-SP1 users. Also, can you find a file in your system titled highfeed.lib? Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
  14. Do you use it gill and if so, does it work properly for you? Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
  15. Does anyone use highfeed machining and if so, do you have three tabs when you pull it up? I am specifically questioning X2-MR2-SP1 users. Also, can you find a file in your system titled highfeed.lib? Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
  16. You can approach this several ways. Easiaest would be to have a model in 3-D and just pick the top hole then pick the bottom hole and change the top of stock on the bottom hole. It will rapid up to the r plane after finishing the top but will rapid down to the new r plane for the bottom hole. Slow, but at least you wouldn;t have to edit anything. 17. I'm trying to get the file to the FTP site, but not having much success. I will probably go ahead and get the trial of the CIMCO-HSM while I'm waiting to find out why my Highfeem machining doesn't work properly. I have been to where you work years ago when I lived in KC. Great town. Hope to be back in the area soon, tired of CA. Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
  18. One quick question Doug, will the CIMCO-HSM recognize my stock and adjust to the cut? I am only taking one pass at this contour. Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
  19. Here is an image of what I am trying to cut if this helps! Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
  20. Thanks for the 411 Doug, it gave me something to look for! Here is a pic of my highfeed machining dialogue box. See above post. Guess this one needs to go to CAD/CAM Consulting! Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
  21. Here's an odd duck!!! According to the help screen I should have a material removal rate tab under the highfeed machining dialogue screen. I don't! But the field definition are under the optimization tab and it turns out the field definitions that are supposed to be under the optimization tab are not in the dialogue box at at all? Something smells fishy here! Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
  22. quote: What about highfeed. It will vary the feedrate of a toolpath based on the volume of the material being removed.I am going to watch the video and see what I might do differently. I have tried it, but not with the feedrate actually being changed due to the stock amount. It has changed it based upon the length of cut. It also won't recognize my solid stock model and I have had to make an .stl for it to "see" the stock. If I can't get it to code right after watching the demo, then I'll post pics and code results. I was wondering about the CIMCO-HSM, looked at the web site for both it and volumill, but they seem to be focused around pocketing, not an outside contour! I'll be back!! LOL Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
  23. When you Merge the stock model, it will automatically go to its own level. Make it an .stp file. If your stock part is in the wrong place, then move it before denoting it as stock. You cna change the color of the stock to whatever you want in the stock setup screen. Stock won't control your roughing routine. Just a simple man with a simple plan! 24. Support the newer multi axis Mill/Turns fully! Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
  25. quote: go to your toolpath parameters, and under tool settings, select 'adjust feed on arc move'. Zero difference in the file when using this. Just a simple man with a simple plan! Mcam X2-MR2-SP1 Mill Level 3 Lathe Level 1 Solids 5 Axis
