Tanks James!
how can I use the WCS? my new origin is Z -2 X-28 Y 0 from old origin. pivot point of Z1.5 X 0 Y 0 from new origin.
My part is a 25" X 30" X 3.812" plate with two 1" shaft mounted on the bottem one at -1 the other at -28" in X to make a sine plate.I must pivot on both of the 1" shafts,14 deg (two setups)
I hope this helps!
Thanks!
Stephen
I need to verify a part that is roughed out flat on the table, then tipped 14 deg in x. Can I use the roughed out part to verify the cuts when tipped. (V. 9 level 3 with solids.)
THANKS!
Stephen
When I try to do an analyze dynamic some times mc crashes.
Is anyone having this problem?
It does it most of the time when zoomed in close, with shading on,some tmes with shading off.
P4 1.7
512 ram
gforce 2 pro
Thanks!

We have this problem from time to time.We use a carbide endmill the same size as the tap or bigger then use a steel thread insert (E-Z LOK)or heli coil.
Be careful, don't brake the endmill.

This thread comes at a good time. We are looking into buying the ProE converter at this time. Up to this point we have used iges format to read in files from ProE. Do you feel this best way to go or is there a better way? Thanks ahead of time for your replies.
Neal.
I like the translator over iges, "IMHO" it is cleaner than iges with surfaces. If you have soilds it is a lot better. I hope this help.

I had the same problem, but tech support recommended I turn on "Attempt to Heal Solid During Import".
Thanks! Charles.
I done a few parts, the only problem is it was slow going with some of big files. I can live with that.
You can also inport as trim surfaces then create soild from surfaces.
I will try to send some to QC this week.
What to send prt. file and MC file.?
Thanks!
Stephen
Is anyone having a problem with Pro E translator? Or am I the only one? Over half the .prt files that I bring in through the translator is missing shaded when I do a shade. The parts you can see through in places. They usually come in ok if I do it as trimmed surfaces. As a solid it looks like part of the surface is missing. Is this a Pro E or a MasterCam problem? Has anyone else seen this happen before? Our engineer is running Pro E and he is not having any problems with these models. I have e-mailed one part to Greg at CNC. Does anyone else having any ideas?
Thanks
Stephen
Yes I have the latest patches as of 8/02.
Allocations: about 1/2 of 512 ram 150000 for tool path,75000 for data.
Nvidea Vanta 16 mb.I am having problems with flowline also, 6 (1/32 fillet) on a 1" boss 6 drive ,12 check surface takes over 10 min. .Is this normal? Is it me, or is this slow?
I am new at MC, maybe,_ _ it is on the other side of the screen.
Thanks!

What kind of crash? For example locking up, or does it shut down and kick all the way out of MC. I am having problems also with this tool path. It is very very slow. It takes about 1 hour to work through a solid model imported from Pro E, with the ProE translator. The part is less than 2 megs in size, about 400 surfaces. Normally one this size would take a few minutes. If this is similar to the problems you are having let us know and maybe we can find a solution. I have talked to my dealer and e-mailed a sample part. This started with the last 2 parts I have brought in. Does anyone have any ideas or solutions? CPU P4 1.7 gigs 512 meg RAM 40 gig hard drive Windows 2000 Pro . Please Help!!!
The place where I work is running Pro E and the engineer done the same rough pass settings that I had on my CPU on the same part in 2 minutes or less. Thanks!
Stephen
We cut some course threads with a lathe threading tool in a boring bar, with the conversational software that came with our cnc. It works ok with one or two holes, but it gets slow with several holes. We are new to Mastercam. My dealer showed me how to thread with a single pass, but I need to be able to take small cuts with several passes. Can Mastercam do this, and if so how? Mill level 3 version 9. Any help is appreciated.
Stephen.
