  1. Well I have a custom post and I have no idea how to get it to be the active post in surfcam. Not sure which files to put where. The computer was set up and running when I took the job and it has since crashed so now I have to get it set up on a new computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I sure do miss using MasterCam.
  2. any one out there using surfcam? I have had to change to it from mastercam and would like to ask a question?
  3. Still here for now and I would like to thank everyone for all the great information, tips, and tricks that I have picked up along the way. This is a forum that is second to none.
  4. Thanks for the reply Mold100. Im sure it will be a big change for me. It will be mostly 5 axis programming. Im looking at it as being a chance to learn another software.
  5. Thanks Millman, I appreciate the reply. I will give it my best shot on changing over to mastercam.
  6. I have a great opportunity to change jobs. The only problem is they use surfcam. I just want to know how close is surfcam to mastercam? Will it be close enought that the learning time will be minimal or big enough that it will take a long time? Any replies will be appreciated. Dont send the flame thrower this way, I have no choice on their software.
  7. Thanks for all the replies. I will check them out and see if I can come up with a decision on what I need to do. Thanks again to everyone.
  8. I have used the proto track lathe about 6 or 7 years back but have not used the mill. I will check it out.
  9. I am looking to retro fit a new bridgeport style mill and just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions on what to go with. I have not had much experience with the retro fit mills. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

  17. I have one question. Does the unemployement rate or the economy have any effect on how many work visas that the government issues? Just a thought, I cant possibly see how it does seeing how many of them work around here on a visa.

  19. You can also do a screen capture and paste it into another program to print. It will print just as it is shown on the screen.
  20. I made a fixture to hold the die grinder on the mill spindle one time to drill .015 diameter holes. It worked very well. Might want to give it a try or not.
  21. I started hunting with my dad when i was 5 and killed my first deer that first season. Now my daughter has been going hunting with me for the past 4 years ( she is 10 now). She only wants to go a couple days of the season. The only thing that i can tell you is plan on not getting to shoot anything if your son is like my daughter. It takes much patience with my girl, she talks, she constantly wiggles, she does everything that she isnt suppose to do while hunting. But what would it be if we couldnt take our kids out to enjoy it with us. I just have to plan on not seeing much when we go. If we do then it is just a bonus. Its not really the hunting, its the time that we get to spend together just me and her. Here in Georgia as long as you are with your child as they call it direct supervision age isnt an issue. they just have to be with you at all times. not sure what age they have to be to hunt with out direct supervision. but they do have to have the hunter safety class. 23. Ok, dont know why, but i got it to work. after restarting MasterCam for the 5th time i changed the depth to -.05 and regenerated the tool path. it stepped down. then i changed the depth back to -.035 and it stepped down at that dept also. any ideas on why?
