  1. quote: Basically my processor went from 2,7 GHz to 4,2 GHz.BE CAREFUL OF THOSE SETTINGS!!!!! If you have a stock cooler you WILL KILL YOUR PROCESSOR! I have OC'd all my comps and that is just a dangerous frequence setting. Watch your temps.
  2. quote: Can I load MC on a Mac?Yep! You can either bootcamp (dual boot) or even use virtual machines (what I use). What model mac do you have?
  3. Install graphics drivers, reboot and install them again (no joke!). Dunno why it works but it does.
  4. Did someone say they needed help with MC on a Mac?
  5. quote: He says this (mcam) won't take advantage of a Tesla cuda-based machine. Too bad. What have I been saying this whole time! Abandon the cpu and move it to GPU. CUDA or OpenCL!!! But what do I know about computers  cnc software, if you want to make mastercam fast, look into CUDA based threading or Open CL based. Then we could take advantage of tesla/fermi as computing cards or just use the ones we have in our comps!
  6. ^^^ Not worth it. My clusters down right now cuz VMware updated the virtual machine software and it won't use my scripts to send out to xGrid I just keep it in my siggy to remember the days when I was the first to break the sub 30 sec mark in mastercam. ON A MAC!!!! Apple: 1 Winblows: Told!
  7. quote: Only other thing I'd want is Esata connection for fast external drive BU...but again a card can be addedYou know you can get a sata to esata cord and just specify that its esata in the bios right? Hella cheaper than a card. quote: I have to agree with evil for once Or you can just get a mac pro
  8. Go for the EVGA X58 SLI LE-Intel board. I use evga parts in my gaming box and never had a problem with them. PSU's fine at 650 watts (unless you're gonna throw a bigger GPU in there. Also with the ram, because it's tri channel the MOBO can support up to 12GB. All you need is 3 of the same sticks (3 2GB sticks or 6 1GB sticks) at the highest frequency your mobo can support (makes a huge difference!!)
  9. quote: First time 1m 30.083s Second time 19.48s So you had a total run time of 1m 49 sec on a laptop? Damn, that things cookin!
  10. ^^^ The new macbook pro's have i7's in them
  11. quote: A word of caution about Remote Desktop... This has long been a HUGE security flaw in Windows Hmmmm, this works just fine in mac OS X With windows xp it's not as bad as people make it out to be. Yea you can break into it but it's time consuming and you'd know. It would slow your connection down to almost nothing. Plus, how are people gonna know you're using it? Unless you're already infected hackers (script kiddies) aren't gonna know what you're doing or even bother looking for ya. But I do like your linux tinfoil hat methodology of security
  12. quote: On a system 32 bit system with 32 gigs I hope you're not talking about ram there...
  13. quote: Go get a sharp / eager kid out of trade school
  14. quote: Multi-thread has been a nice addition, but, I think 2 things really need to happen. Mastercam needs to become a true multi-core product and the need to take advantage of the x64 architecture. This or switch to open source architectures like open CL or CUDA. The GPU is a lot more powerful than the CPU.
  15. Mac Actually, this has happened on my virtual machine a couple times. All I do is click cancel when it happens and all is fixed
  16. quote: Well lets mesh a 2 million point point cloud with yours and mine and see the difference. I'm in! I could add a couple of nodes and really whomp some bishi's here
  17. Murray stole the benchmark record from me. I only had it for about 4 months but still to be on a mac, make a declaration of complete ownage and live up to it, Feels good man!
  18. Oh shi- sorry zek. I forgot about this thread lol. Well, the new 27" iMac is a fantastic computer because of the i7 they slap in it. But if you want a laptop, I'd wait about 3 months. They will get updated to i3 and i5.
  19. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...38607&CatId=106 The only power supply you'll ever need.
  20. Installed yesterday and seems fine for me. Time to churn and burn to fully test it out! Good job CNC software!
  21. What are you gonna program for? Mac's are notorious for having under powered video cards for windows
