  1. Osg does warn about that but the reps from OSG that I use to deal with said they had several clients using regular endmills in there tooling with no problems. I used the regular cheap osg endmills in the osg shrink fit tooling all the time with no problems.
  2. Brian, I have my system working now. Its a windows setting that needed changed. Control Panel / System and Maintenance / Performance Information and Tools / Adjust Visual Effects/ In the Pop up window select Custom: Then uncheck the box beside the Enable desktop Composition. You can also set the Visual affects to Adjust for best performance but this will make windows Vista look completely different. I also found that in Mastercam you can go into Settings / Configuration / Screen and under the Graphics support box select the Disable Hardware acceleration box but I did not like the results of this option. This fixed the X+ problem but caused other issues in Mastercam.
  3. Yes. I believe it is the correct one labeled SetupX+_X3 which is the same that is on your site. Just to check this out I Installed MCX3MU1 on my computer at the house and I have the same problem. The logo will show up and the tool pictures will show up but the screen shot does not. I have not had time to mess with it yet to see if I can figure out what is wrong. Could it be something in the internet explorer settings that is causing the problem? My machine at home is Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit.
  4. Thats the problem on this particular computer its not printing whats on the screen and the settings are suppose to be set as you show them. I haven't went by to look at the machine yet and was hoping I could just tell him how to fix it. Robert I'm not sure I follow you make sure what is a png file with x3
  5. A company I use to work for called and is having problems with X+ not putting the bitmap file of the part on the set-up sheet. He says everything under the output format is checked except for excel. Mastercam X3 MU1 and X+. Computer has windows vista business on it. This is a fresh install of Mastercam on a new machine. Any ideas on how to get the part to show up on the set up sheet?
  6. John, Thanks that did the trick. All alarms are now cleared.
  7. This machine has had these alarms for several years it my understanding is that it usually takes around a year for it to alarm 10 times. I just need to know how to clear the alarms before it reaches the limit of 10.
  8. I have a book here that tells what all can cause the alarm and we just get one of these alarms every once in awhile. The problem is the book doesn't tell the steps you have to take to clear the alarms and after the machine alarms out 10 times it goes into feed hold and stays in feed hold until the alarms are cleared. I'm at 5 now so I thought I would clear them but can't figure out how to do it.
  9. I have a Mazak H-400N, with a Mazatrol M-32 Controller on it. Does anyone know how to clear the thermal displacement alarms on this machine. It has 5 alarms on it now and when it reaches 10 my understanding is the alarms have to be reset before the machine will operate. Thanks
  10. We used them a lot in P20 and H13 on a Haas machine when I was I PolyTech Molding. Same results in either material, 200 ipm at about 1400 rpm and .04 to .05 depth of cut. 1 1/4" diam. cutter taking a 1" step over. The inserts in these cutters hold up really well. We didn't cut much A2, and don't believe we ever cut D2 or M2. The only down side to the cutter is noise level. They are loud but I would presume that is the case with any of the new high feed mills. I Would Check with the local rep when I bought these cutters they were gauranteed to do the job or they would give a full refund, even if I crashed the tools while testing them they would refund my money.
  11. I like the Walter Novex High Performance inserted cutters for ruffing. In P20 you can run 200 ipm at about 1400 rpm. With a 1 1/4 inch diam. cutter you can take a .059 deep pass. We bought the screw fit head type and I was pleased with it.
  12. Sounds like you have a solid instead of surfaces. Try clicking on SCREEN at the top then click on Screen Statistics and see if you have any surfaces.
  13. Yes pro-e files will import good if you have them saved in the step format. I have more problems importing inventor files than anything, but believe most of the problems is related to having imperfections in the inventor files when they are sent to me.
  14. For ease of use I would look at Solidworks, but if your customers use pro-e I would certainly consider it. I've used both and currently use Solidworks. Solidworks has a much shorter learning curve though Pro-e is much better since the release of Wildfire.
  15. I use OSG threadmills, Threadmilling A2, Rc 55-60 with no problems.
  16. I would use create curve on all edges and create geometry. Then contour all corners with one toolpath. For the .360 groove I would use a 2d contour, set the toolpath to ramp, offset xy enough to get to the center of the groove. Cut the groove to depth. Create another toolpath using the 2d contour with ramp on select the inside and outside geometry of the groove and go to finish width on the groove (using a .015 corner radius bull nose endmill).
  17. I purchased the basic seat, no maintenance, in December of 2006. In October of 2007 my reseller told me if I wanted on maintenance to do it by the end of October or I would have to pay the 500 + Maintenance. I paid the maintenance and bought the moldworks suite of products.
  18. It just started this past October. If you skip a year of maintenance on the basic Solidworks it will add about $500, if memory serves correctly, to pay maintenance the next year.
  19. Turning off the infinite look ahead did work. thanks,
  20. I tried using the helix but with a 3d contour path and for some reason it would only make one complete revolution then quite but a 2d using ramp would probably work well I'll give that a try. thanks
  21. I've placed a file called Thread Electrode in ftp://www.ppcadcam.com/Mastercam_forum/MCX2_Files/ folder. I was intending to program this with the part standing up using a harvey .376 diameter single point thread tool. The problem is when using the thread mill toolpath the tool wants to arc on and off of the part cutting where I don't want to cut. Whats the best way to program this part. Thanks.
