  1. I've had the same results, and pretty much have given up on it! Let me know what your dealer tells you.
  2. I'd like to pipe in just for the sake of piping in I guess. I am a new user to MasterCAM. I've been using it for about a year, at quite a reputable business (i.e. paid for software), and I think it is definately a "touchy" topic. I know that when I first started looking for custom posts, the biggest problem I had was dealing with somebody who claimed they were a post editor, but ultimately was quite the amateur. Bottom line, after paying a considerable amount of money to a person the local MC dealer suggested, the end result was a post, that by this time, with little post editting experience I have, I could have probably edited it myself with the same result. And I know being new to this site most would have been skeptical of sharing. What I have noticed, more than once is, dealers, and or contractors, are making money over and over again on an existing post processor that just has simple header and comment changes to it. I think that is unfair to the consumer, especially to the naive consumer looking to pioneer a new product. So the end all ("long winded") point I'm trying to make is: We as "Programmers" should stick together, help each other out, and let the salesman out there know that we won't be taken advantage of!

    V9.1?

I was just curious as to any info on an uprade for MasterCAM version 9. Has anybody heard of a release date? Does anyone know what "glitches" they may be upgrading, or features that may be bbeing added. I've noticed quite a few patches that have needed to be installed, it would seem like they must be getting close to an upgrade. Anyhow's, any rumors, or fact would make for interesting reading!
  4. My first impulse after reading your question is: "Heck ya, smoke his *ss." But the problem with that is, odds are he's not going to be capable of comprehending exactly what it was you did, let alone how it was you did what you could do to smoke him. And that's pretty much the difference, like chris m said, the new generation of machinist's are more open minded and see that there is a lot to be learned from "toolmakers", unfortunately for them, they are too closed minded, and actually probably fear the inevitable demise of there trade. And as a result, they talk trash abaout that which they fear!
  5. I was just curious if anyone out there had any information on any formal courses I could take to learn more about editing MasterCAM's post processors. Thanks! Oh, and what's the word on 9.1, has anyone heard a release date?
  6. Man, I've honestly never been so intrigued by a forum topic like this one has made me. I have a couple of opinions on the topic, and after reading everybody else's I figured I'd put in mine. 1. I think it honestly boils down to personal preference. If you think you are being as efficient as you possibly can be in the 2-D world, then stick with it. 2. Whether or not MasterCAM Solids is the best it can possibly be isn't very relevant. What's relevant is that MasterCAM is constantly advancing itself in the CAD/CAM world. If MasterCAM is the software you choose to use for your business, it would only make sense that you would want your business to meet it's fullest potential. Which in this case would be your capability to program in solids. I'd rather have the potential to do work and choose to turn it down, than to miss out on getting work because I'm not capable of doing it.
  7. I am trying to save files that I create in MasterCAM so that they can be read in "Imaging", or a software similar. Any tips on how to convert afile to do so would be greatly appreciated.
