  1. I use the keys or "thumb drive" too. Mine is only 256MB but it is plenty for the files I transport.

  8. quote: Graphics Card 64MB OpenGL-compatible graphics card (minimum) Full acceleration recommended. When working with shaded surfaces or solids on a regular basis, a card with at least 128MB of RAM improves system performance. DPI setting should not exceed 96 DPI. In Windows 2000 this is tied to font size; in Windows XP it is not. Yeh I read that, but in the past Mr. Bullines had a little more specific write up with a high end card and a mid-level card. I know alot of the compatibility issues go away now that it is a windoz app, but some cards still have more issues than others. The Graphics engine in our KeyCreator CAD software for example uses HOOPS graphics from Tech Soft America. Tech Soft has a huge list of TESTED and untested video cards. As the minimum sys requirements says "Full Acceleration Recommended". As you know IF you have graphics issues the first thing you do is back off the acceleration. I would like to be assured I will not have to do that
  9. Bullines, Whats the Wallet Friendly Pick For X Graphics Cards ? Although we are not upgrading to Version X for a "few months". I am specing out new computers to be purchased now. I couldn't tell if the System requirements page had been updated (it looked like it was for v9). I know there has been some discussion, but now that everyone is playing with X feel free to post what you have found here.

  11. I agree with the 1" Subplate. You can mill a keyway down the length and put keys on your mill vices for quick setups and the flexibility to locate them anywhere on the table.

  15. quote: Thats nuts man. No tolerancing. It is becoming more common. Boeing provides Model Based Definition only on new designs. We pull the Catia model and a seperate "Engineering Notes" File directly out of their PDM over the web. All block tolerance stufff is described with a series of general notes. Close tolerance features have the tolerance hung on the model in model space. Jim, I prefer hanging a note on the model with thread size. What CAD system do your engineers use ?
  16. Good luck Rick. Secret job ... sounds exciting .
  17. On the graphite if you are using a few standard tools, you may want to also consider diamond coated endmills. A bit pricy but they out last uncoated carbide by a mile. Then as Ron says you can fly with normal depths and high speeds with little concern for tool wear. I have a couple different sizes that I try to use when I can for electrode work.
  18. Haven't used them, but I have always gotten great support from Emuges Applications For tapping the guy is Alan Shepard. He has been very helpful in getting me in the ballpart with difficult applications and also following up with problems. http://www.emuge.com/technical/
  19. mab, Just for the record, Cadkey (now Keycreator) does not generate .cdl files anymore. Their customization / macro language is now a spin off called .kxl. Generally speaking it is an obsolete format. As a CK user, I always used Iges going from CK to MC and back. CAM
  20. Could try Dooley Gasket Co. in PA - Jim Dooley 888-257-9291 I am not sure if they Waterjet or not.
  21. That psych class will be very handy for dealing with malcontent CNC operators. It should be a pre-requesite for Mastercam 101
