  1. Is it just me or are the colors screwed up in Verify in X4 MU3. When I have a lot of tool in a program (say 10+ tools) I like to make them different colors in verify. I can change the holder, the stock, the tool, everything but he cut color. Anyone else have this problem?
  2. Sometimes a fine tooth rougher does work better. What typ of matrl are you cutting? Dollar for Dollar I choose the SGS Z-Carb over a rougher any day!
  3. Hey millman....nice system. I just purchased a very similar one only I jumped the video card up to a NVIDIA Quadro FX3800. It made a BIG difference for me.If your looking to purchase duel monitors I just got 2 new ones from Tiger direct on sale 24" Samsung 24SW widescreen LCD 1920 x 1080 50000:1 Dynamic, 5ms for $219.99 each.
  4. No, I didn't take any pics but I should have. We had one of our guys use an old shapper machine to uncover what was in the steel.
  5. I"m thinking our purchasing dep. got some of that stuff from Value City ......
  6. OOOOPS....KC725M inserts...........
  7. The inserts I am using are the KC750M. Normally everything cuts like a dream but now and then it seems the tools just come apart. I am wondering if I am getting a bad batch of tool steel. I have come across some material with hard spot in it. Last year I found a file in the middle of a piece of D-2 and a spark plug inside a piece of 4140.
  8. Does anyone else out there use Kennametal mill 1 tooling? If so ... are you having any issues with them? I machine a lot of D-2 / S-7 type of tools steel and about a year ago we purchased about 5k of Kennametal tooling. All the ball nose tools work very well but every now and then the end mills seem to have a melt down problem even when using the speed and feed charts out of the book. If anyone machines these type of steels, what brand of tooling are you having success with?
  9. As far as the stl. files go...I use them all the time for verify and they never seem to to stay with the file. If I close a file and re-open it...stl. "GONE". It seems to randomly pull one from my system. No fix for it ...that's just the way it is.
  10. I like to create a file with the customers name and the then save nc. file under job number and operation. We have 100's of files and this works well.
  11. We use Keycreator and we do not have any problem with files from any other program except Catia. Pro-E and Solidworks files do not create any issues to us at all. As for converting of creating files for Mastercam....Never a problem!
  12. I downloaded Hyperterm for Windows 7 and set it up the same way I had it before and It works with no problems. I still would like to get Cimco to work because i really like the way it is set up. As soon as our computer guru get's in today I will have him help me explain how this is connected a little better.
  13. I can't seen to find where to put in the IP address. In thw transfer status box I have all green checks except for DTR/DSR & RTS/CTS under handshaking. Whats this mean?
  14. I never new about this... Cimco? I found it in the MC Help. Now to figure out how to set it up and use it. Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks JParis, I was unaware of this. All the other machines are hooked directly to the network so I just post my programs directly to them, this is the only one I have to "send" to.
  15. Does anyone use Realterm to send programs to their machines? I have an older Haas that I was using Hyperterm to send files, well ...now that I went to Win 7 Hyperterm is no longer available. Now I am trying to use Realterm and connect through a Sena Device Driver and I can't seem to get the stupid thing to work. I can connect to the machine but I can't get it to send the file.
  16. X4 MU2, you will have to move your part in Solidworks to where you want it and then bring it into MC.
  17. I MC could put a button in backplot that would display dogleg rapids would be nice. This Haas is a 07' VF4 3 axis milling center.
  18. That's the tool Mr. M. I prefer 2 flute for allum.
  19. I think I'm going to go beg for some better verification software. I don't usually do a lot of drilling, mostly surfacing but I can't just do away with drilling cycles. Thanks for yalls help
  20. Try Harvey tools pn# 13920 $16.20 .020 dia. great tools!
  21. I just got a reply back from Haas and they say that rapids can't be turned off. I guess i will just have to be more on top my ABS retract moves to keep this from happening or keep things feeding when doing this.
  22. I have a 2007 Haas so I just sent them an E-mail to see if there was a way to turn this off. I didn't think that you could turn this off but I am going to find out. What use is a dogleg rapid anyway. I have used the high speed paths and do like them a lot. This was just a small program and kinda simple and I guess I wasn't thinking of any problems like this. I hate breaking end mills.
  23. I just watched a $175.00 end mill explode first thing today. ( Good Morning! ) I wrote a program yesterday and went over it at least 3 times and made sure everything was perfect. I looked at every detail and missed one thing. In my program I start of with surface rough parallel at a 20 deg. angle, when it shows the tool path everything looks okay. I ran verify and no problems. What I missed was one rapid move across the part below the top surface. Not hard to miss with a million lines to look through. In verify it don't show any crashing, but in reality a Haas doesn't rapid straight at an angle it moves to the nearest tangent point and then to where it belongs. ( CRASH ) If I was cutting at 0 or 90 deg this probably wouldn't happen, it hasn't yet. Does anybody know a good way to catch or prevent this? Will the program Vericut show this or prevent this ?
  24. I just wrote a program doing the the very same thing ( 2 holes - 1.00" dia. - .875" deep - 2" apart) and until I read this I didn't notice anything strange. I went back and looked a little closer and noticed my tool was only using clearance and not retract. I played around with it a little and kept getting the same results. I figured " It ain't crashing.....i'm running it"
