  1. Anyone use the "change at point" feature in X6? We are turning shafts and getting taper. We usually take care of this with two offsets, one at toolchange and the other at the end of cut to compensate for the taper. In X5 the change at point worked great, in X6 I am getting errors and a weird toolpath. Anybody tell me if they know of a bug or am I not doing this correctly? Once again thanks you guys. Todd
  2. Import the the operations you want, then select the first operation, holding shift key select the last operation you want to move. While holding the Right mouse button down, drag the group to where you want it, then select, move before at the prompt.
  3. Awesome! Great advice guys! I was thinking of a $100 Minimum charge for the first hour, then $50 dollars an hr after that. I will be sure to put a clause for the revision changes Doug, that is a GREAT suggestion. Thank you! Todd
  4. I have the opportunity to do some Contract programming for a reputable company here. I am new to the contract programming thing, can you all give me advise on what I should charge? According to the customer, it will be pretty basic 2d lathe and mill. They make tool holders 40 Cat and 50 Cat. I would be writing about 200 programs. Should I charge by the hour or by the program? Thanks all, Todd

  6. Is there any kind of Instructions from Mastercam on how to set-up X6 on a server? Like how to Configure the Config file and which folders are needed to put on the Server? Basically we are running 6 computers with X5 off of a server. I set it up but there were alot of bugs with it. I think I was at fault. We are now getting ready to upgrade to X6 and I would appreciate it if I could find some Instructional Information so that I get it "Right" this time. Thanks Guys and Gals Todd
  7. Hey Guys, I am trying to modify my post. When I select 5 axis drilling and post it, It should be an "A" axis, but is posting out "B" axis. 9. Robert, We use cribmaster. How do I set up CrystalReports? Would Microsoft Access work also? Todd
  10. I was told from my reseller that X7 will have probe routines as well with posts. Supposedly Cnc Software is working with Renishaw. I hope so because we do alot of probing here.
  11. I love my dual monitors! I usually have Mastercam open on the left and Cimco open with the post on the right. I do alot of developing so I love not having to click back and forth. Also, I post into Mastercam editor so my Cimco stays open all the time and I can switch back and forth easier.
  12. Good Morning Greg, It would be face. Thanks,
  13. Can someone write me a quick subroutine in OSP 200L Language for a drill and bore cycle? We make parts that are castings. Most of the time they are "cored", but sometimes they aren't and in that case we use an insert drill to drill it, and then use the insert drill to rough bore with a secondary offset. The problem is we (the programmers) don't know when these parts are going to come like this. Rather than have to add it to the programs or have it in every program with block skips, I thought if we had a quick Okuma Sub, we could drill and bore. The operator at the machine could input the rough diameter and depth of hole inn the Subroutine, then run that sub, then just switch over to the regular program and run it. PM me if you think you can help. Thanks Guys Todd
  14. I know it's in the parameters depending on which control you have. Try this link: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/okuma/96266-tap_retract.html
  15. What control do you have in the mill?
  16. Thanks Storkman, I think that helps. I just wish I could set a straight SFM and Chipload for each material for each toolpath type. Then I wouldn't have to play the percentage game. I 'll play around a bit to see if I can get the output desired. Todd
  17. Okay, After much anguish, I need to know. Can Mastercam drive Speeds and Feeds based on Materials? I tried to set it up, but when I toolpath, it comes out wrong. Can someone explain to me how the formulas work? We have 30 machines with an average tool matrix of 120 tools, we machine 30 different materials. If I had to make tool libraries for each material, I wouldn't get any work done. What I would like to do, is be able to have my guys pick the appropriate material for a given job and let the material set the speeds and feeds based on the SFM I set up for each tool type. Thanks again as I often ask you guys for help. Todd
  18. Thanks Allan, I will have the operator try that and get back to me.
  19. We have a Mazak Slant turn 50 with Fanuc 11T control(I know it's old!) There are 3 gears on this machine and max RPM is 1600. Anyone know the Gear ranges? Thanks, Todd
  20. Hi Doug, Thanks for replying! Yes I know about the G138, but for some readon, it isn't reading it or working right. I am thinking there is probably a parameter that isn't working right. Todd
  21. Chris, I found the problem was with windows. I had to actually do a full restore of my system. Some type of Malware that would reset the Windows update so it just kept reinistalling the same updates over and over again. I got it now thanks,. Todd
  22. Ok Guys, I have a machine question. We have an Okuma VTM 80YB(The same as a Multus basically) My problem is when I program a face mill, using X and Y, I program the part radially, but it still moves to the diametrical equivalent. For example, if I program a 2.5" shellmill to start at X6. and Y0, the machine moves to X12. Y0. Is there something in the machine like a G or M code or maybe a parameter I am missing that would tell the machine with a "M" tool NOT to Multiply X? Thanks, Todd
  23. Roger, That didn't work. I use Avast and even uninstalled it. I went into my msconfig and turned everything off and rebooted and that didn't wrk either. I'll keep trying Thanks, TOdd
  24. Everytime I try to install X6 I get "Error 1935". Any one else get this error?I get to the very end of the install and then it errors, and rolls back the install. I have looked on the net, and it seems to be a windows issue, I have tried all I can and can't seem to get rid of the error. Help???? Thanks, Todd
  25. Yes, You know how for instance, Machine Group 1. If you toolpath your part, then below, have Machine Group 2 for a second op, my post spits out "op1", then "op2" and so on. But I can't find it in the post, so I think it's in the config.
