Does anyone know if there is a way to change colors of individual surfaces on a solid model?
I have several pockets to machine and when I look at the part from the top view. It would be nice to see the different steps and features.
I have attached a picture of a part.
Problem - I really would hate to create curves for every one of these contours and pockets.
Question - Does anyone have any ideas on a simple fast tool path to finish the wall and the floors without having to create curves?
I have already used the Surface High Speed toolpath to rough out as much as possible
Thanks
Michael
Ok I emailed the file to tech support. I was told right away that they usually do not use that feature and they normally would create a separate contour path for finishing. Not what I wanted to hear. I emailed the file and they said it could possibly be a bug or maybe my post. I post my results.
Thanks
Yes I have had the same problem today. The Finish feed rate override does not work????
Does anyone know if there is a work around without creating another operation?
I am using Mill X6 MU2 and 2D High Speed(2D Dynamic Area Mill) for a pocket.
Problem - the helix entry is posting out in linear x y z movements. How can I get the post to output in IJK's
I have my parameter set to post in R values because my machine will not work too well with IJK's, but in my past posts it would post helix entries in IJK's which is no problem If I am just using it for helix entries.
Thanks
I changed to .005 and it actually processes a lot quicker but still having the problem with the model not showing correctly in verify. It actually shows a finish model and not a stock cut model.
I ended up starting over and did not use options area and stock model. I used the standard tool paths and have not had any problems.
I actually like X6 if I keep using the standard tool paths that I used from x3. Its when I started using the new features such as opti area and stock model between operations and that is when I start having problems. I am sure they work great on smaller parts but I think my part is big enough to cause problems. I ended up going back to using standard tool paths and I haven't had any weird bugs or cutting issues.
I am sure it will hopefully get better with X7.
I have renewed my maintenance from X3 and installed X6 but I am having issues and struggling to program a job that I would normally have completed in X3 within a day or two. I am now on week 2 still trying to get past the first operation. Ok enough of my complaining.
I just want to install a solid version of Mastercam. Is X5 a pretty solid version? So far I think X2 and X4 worked for me.
What are your recommendations for a solid version of Mastercam
Can I install X5 and X6 on the same computer?
Thanks
Hi,
Can someone take a look at this file to see if you see anything unusual with the stock model?
My link
The file name is JP_CA2B30021[1]A.MCX-6
1-The stock model doesn't update at #3 High speed rest
I can see the updated cut model at operation 3
2-Verify is at 100 complete already before I can even run verify and it won't let me run verify.
Thanks
I have never had to deal with these types of problems before so here is another one
I have not changed anything since I last opened the file and now when I rebuild, I am getting this error??
any ideas why it was good before and now all of a sudden its bad?? It shouldn't be this hard and its pretty frustrating if I am the only one having these problems
this is what my post is showing at the moment

I posted out a program using I and J's but my machine is just not liking it. The machine will read the code and keep going straight until it overtravels.
IMO I would rather see I J K's.
The mill that I am using never had problems with IJK's until I started using X6 optiarea. A couple days later and I am still trying to get a good running part.
I am working in the post processor and would like to know if there is an easy way to change my post to call out M6 first and then the tool number?
Thanks
Can anyone tell me how I can change my dwell that posts out like this P.5 to P500?
I am working in the post right now and I cannot find and fs2 statements that match what I need?
My machine will either accept x.5 or p500 - I would like to know what everyone is using and how I change my post.
