  1. My boss is having me pick out a new computer and I have to keep in mind to keep the price down. I was wondering if anyone sees anything that they would do different. Pros and Cons. Thank you for your input in advance. [ 08-03-2001: Message edited by: lou ]

But, I don’t want it to display the Z value every time and I have to edit it out. Is there a way around this? Thanks, ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer OMEGA PLASTICS [email protected]

    Big Crash

THIS IS A GOOD ONE!!!!!! Ok, Mine was back when I worked in a die shop through CO/OP in high school as a Die Setter. I just set a die in a 2 ½ story press and we had customers in that day to see it run. As we were changing things throughout the day we moved the heal block back to far. I didn’t notice it and the boss was standing there and didn’t notice it. I hit the buttons to close the press. IT WAS LIKE A BOMB WENT OFF!!!!!!! Chunks of steel went flying everywhere. People ran for cover (including the customers) hiding behind anything we could. With all the pressure there were chunks of steel were popping off left and right. We had to wait until it stopped to get close enough to the press to take it apart to reverse the travel. In all that mess only one guy went to the hospital to get stitches in his arm. He was hit with one of the flying pieces of steel. Good thing the boss was there and he took full reasonability. Have a good day. ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer OMEGA PLASTICS [email protected]

    your age?

Hi, I am 31 and I have been in the molding trade sence "88". Started Programming in "90" when mastercam was sold as "ClearCut". I left mastercam for a few years and went to Cim/Linc at that time mastercam was still just wire frame. Cim/Linc fell behind and Mastercam made leaps and bounds on becomeing one of the best software's out there. So, I switched back over to mastercam when Ver. 6 came out. Now, I have been using it ever sence. Thats my story and Im sticking to it. P.S. Just to let you all know. I work right next to Bill along with 4 other programmers in the same room. See ya all, ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer OMEGA PLASTICS [email protected]
  12. Hi, I have been work in the mold trade sence 1988 and have been using Mastercam sence 1990. In that time I have also used Cim/linc and Pro/E. But, I find that mastercam does everything I need to do without learning a bunch of systems. Keep up the good work Mastercam. Yes, Having more members is going to make this forum more useful. It is nice to be able to pool together a bunch of ideas and pick the best one for yourself. Keep up the good work everyone! ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer http://www.opinc.com
  14. You should be able to get that off of your mastercam cd. Run the setup from the postprocessor dir. Pick the Fadal post and install it. Hope this helps. ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer http://www.opinc.com
  15. I had to run my patch from mcam8 dir. If I didnt. I would get the same error. ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer http://www.opinc.com
  16. Hey Multax, What is your REAL name? Where are you from? Where do you work? I double dog dare you to tell us!!!! I think that your posts are a waste of time for anyone to read. People on this board like to help other people and sometimes get help. Not, TRY to make people sound stupid that are helping in here. It makes you look stupid. It sounds like to me that you are a little man that is trying to feel big by trying to make other people look small. (Notice the word TRYING) That is just the way I see it. I am sorry that people have to sit and read all this garbage... ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer http://www.opinc.com
  17. Multax, I wonder how much help you will get on this forum with all of your attacks on other members? No problem giving your 2 cents but when you attack other people when they are trying to help out is not going to help you in the future. Just my 2 cents. ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer http://www.opinc.com

Are you looking through the MPFAN.txt file? I know you can make text changes in there. ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer http://www.opinc.com

  20. Yes, it is windows 2000. But, Why would that effect the window size???? Thanks for the feed back. I will take any that I could get. It is very frustrating. Thanks again.... ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer http://www.opinc.com
  21. I have a question that may not be directly related to Mastercam. I am a cad guy / IT that takes care of mold makers computers more on the everyday problems. There is one user that when he is logged in himself the File/Get window does not fully appear. You can’t see the OK or CANCAL buttons. But, if I login as myself then the window is fine or if he logs in locally its fine???? So, I am really at a loss here?? I know he can double click on it and bring up the file. But, it is just not right. I tried re-installing Mastercam from scratch but that did not work either. ANY help would be much appreciated!!! Thank You, ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer http://www.opinc.com
  22. humm,Funny how one topic can start off a bunch of different topics. ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer http://www.opinc.com
  23. I have had them before. What I have found is that there is a little sliver of a surface that will not effect your cutter path. You could do a "save as" if there are not to many surfaces and just pick the ones that you want to machine in a new file. If that dont work. Look at the surfaces in the corners and make sure there is not a bowtie in one of the corners. Hope this helps. ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer http://www.opinc.com
  24. I think if our companies are getting smarter programmers from this forum then they would probably be willing to pay to keep there programmer on the forum to get help when needed. Or, when there is a maintenance upgrade for the next version. Include a small cost to have access to the forum. ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer http://www.opinc.com
  25. I am using Mastercam mill at a prototype shop and I dont always use the tool changer and when I make my setup sheet. I have one piece of paper per tool. I am just looking for a setup sheet that will show me a picture of my part on the screen and to list all my tools in order of my ops. manager with all tool 1's ALL ON ONE PAGE. I hope I made sence on what I am looking for or maybe I am asking for a bit much. Thanks for your help in advance!!! ------------------ Lou Wilson Cnc Programmer http://www.opinc.com
