  1. I'm a little confused as to what you're trying to accomplish, you want the toolpath to go over the edge and smooth that out?
  2. Asus is the rare computer brand that I support. They make good quality stuff, and I always run their Motherboards. A couple of my comp-geek friends call them Ajesus. I give it the thumbs up! also; Apps guy is right, SSD is totally worth it.
  3. you could go into your device manager and disable your parallel hasp that way to get the USB hasp working. I don't know if the device manager recognizes a Parallel hasp (we only use USB here >.<) But if it does, that should work for you.
  4. Restarting worked perfectly, thanks Colin!
  5. So, Nils is out of the office so I can't reach him, maybe one of you guys could help me out? I was working on re-making some surfaces, and went to make a toolpath for them, but when I go to make a new toolpath nothing pops up. I click parameters on an existing toolpath...nothing pops up. I think my toolpath window got moved out of screen view, but I have NO clue how to get it back. Any ideas? Using MCX5, and the help function did NOT help >.>
  6. Haha his desk puts mine to shame. I've got papers with random notes scribbled on them everywhere!
  7. We're running an Nvidia Quadro2000D Video Card, and it works great for Mastercam, I don't know about your other program however, but I can imagine that a high end Nvidia card would run it alright. As for cases, I was thinking about suggesting a water-cooled system next time that we built a new computer here at the shop, since we are in the same situation (massive amounts of dust.) but I don't know if that would really change much. Does anyone here have experience with water cooled systems running in shop environments?
  8. Does that toolpath have a depth cut option? Or just a "Top of stock/Depth" Option? If so, you can manually edit the numbers to where you want it to start cutting. Ex. (Depth = 0 Surface., Top of stock = 3.) Set Depth cuts to .5 and blam you've got 6 depth cuts. I could be completely wrong though since I'm still pretty new at this, but I would imagine that would work.
  9. Hmm, Looks like I might have to consider trying one of those at home, I'm not sure if I can drag myself away from the dual monitor set-up though. It's just too nice to have a browser/music player in one, and a video game in the other >.<
  10. What's the resolution on that? My pet-peeve when it comes to the extra-large monitors is that I normally can only find them at sub-par resolutions. I like small writing haha
  11. Here's a question for the back-up function. We have it turned on with 100 max backup files. And for some reason it stops at 1 for some parts, and does the full 100 (I think, it only really goes to like......11 or 12 realistically.) for others. the only noticeable difference between the files it multi-backs up and the ones it only does 1 for is file size. Our big files (100Mb+) will only get 1 back-up while the moderate/small (40Mb and lower) ones get multiples. Sorry if this de-rails the thread, I can repost it as it's own thread. Just thought it might be related =] Thanks in advance.
  12. Yeah we found out it was a corrupt Harddrive in our machine. got a new one and it's been running great! Was quite a stressful weekend working around the clock on our part, AND trying to figure out why we were having problems with the machine. Thanks for the advice guys!
  13. I've been custom building my own computer for 10 years. to date I've bought 2. None have failed, and they're always top-of-the-line. It's more of a personal preference.
  14. I'm a big fan of Asus Products. (I don't trust Dell or HP ) they make amazing monitors for cheap. Make sure if you go dual that you get 2 of the same Size O.o preferably the same monitor. I've made that mistake.... =[
  15. we're trying a hard reset now. (actually just un-plugging the power for a bit about an hour or so.) Hopefully this should alleviate the issue we're having, until we can get in contact with our dealer about backing up the files and doing a reformat maybe.
  16. Awesome, I will suggest this tomorrow when I go into the shop. That is what I was thinking it might be related to, but I didn't know that there was a reformat option.
  17. Hmm, we don't use sub-routines or anything like that. All of the stuff we do is one-offs and we move every operation to the machine individually. So inside of that one operation it'll stop. It does it on normal code too, just Coordinates, no G-code or anything like that. We've got kind of a run-around solution, of writing down the block# it disappeared at and editing the Post to continue the operation where it stopped. If we look at the code on the machine, it's all there but when we execute it, it just disappears.
  18. So, on our machine today we've noticed we just run out of code. About 1/4th of the way through a program, the machine will just stop. Spindle keeps running, just no movement. Looking at the controller shows no more code lines on the executing program. Looking at the code outside of that shows a full program.. We can't figure out why it keeps doing this... (It's done it 3-4 times today, Anywhere from the middle of a program, to near the end, one was at the very start.) Any help would be appreciated. We're using a xxxxor Automation CNC 8055 M Controller
  19. Yeah k2 is right, I've had to do that myself >.< Never seem to remember how I got rid of it either
  20. We tried it, but the iges file kept all of the associated entities, and the step file got rid of them but manipulated our surfaces from the offset we had put on em. Thanks for the help, but we managed to un-blank them, and just move em all onto a new level we called "Associated Junk" so we can just kinda keep it outta sight outta mind.
  21. So is there any way to un-associate them?
  22. So, I am trying to transfer some offset surfaces over from one file to another, and I noticed that whenever I move them over to a new file using "Save Some" I keep getting a bunch of empty levels with 1-6 entities on them. I unhid the entities and found some surfaces, on deleting just these I get an error saying "Deleting these will result in deleting associated surfaces, continue?" If I hit yes, I delete bits and pieces of the surfaces that I want to keep. Any help?
  23. I sometimes feel like a wizard or a conjurist. Makin' stuff appear out of thin air.... Or solid blocks of stock
