Here is another example of Surface Finish Blend. I broke it out into two paths as well. I have it set to machine one way. this creates a lot of retracts. I am not a mould guy. A Zig Zag pattern will reduce the retracts but may affect your surface finish. PA45-AGMR-1_MOULD_SURFACES_BREWSTER.MCX-6

I use C offsets on the 730 variaxis but not A because Im limited to only using G54.2 on it. The VCU has only been on the shop floor about 4 days, so I haven't had a chance to do a lot with it yet.

Great! thanks for the help. Setting it up in the control is the next challenge. It seems to be similar to the G54.2 as far as XYZ, but B and C seem different. I'm not sure what the "Common" data is for either.

Thanks for the run down! I did notice you didn't move A and C. I was under the impression that G54.4 could be used for simultaneous 5 axis. Is this correct?

Jeremy, Any insight you can give would be greatly appreciated. We have the Matrix 2 controller, and it is the first machine we have that has the G54.4 option. we have used G54.2 on our 730 variaxis. The G54.4 seems to be a little different as far as setting it up.

We just got a new machine with the Matrix 2 controller. it has the G54.4 WSEC option. i am not familiar with this. we have a Variaxis 730 5x and use G54.2 on it. I was wondering how to set the data for G54.4 at the control and in a program. Do you set it similar to G54.2? does the center of rotation coordiniates need to be in G54? any information would be appreciated. thanks

I prefer it on a separate screen. It occupies to much screen real estate. It would be great if there was an option to make the box transparent (similar to catia) that way it wouldn't reduce the workspace.

I had heard that it was causing some systems to crash wen X7 first came out, so I didn't use when setting up my PC. I was going to upgrade the rest of the programmer's PCs to X7. I was hoping that that would have been fixed with the service packs. It would be a great time saver if it actually worked. I guess they will stay on X6 for a while.

Does anyone know if the issue with X7's Migration utility been fixed in SP1 or SP2? I would like to bring another programmer up to X7, but I don't have time to set him back up from scratch.

YES I use X7 mostly now and it doesnt happen. X6 mu3 did it all the time. I would just save before renaming. -
Ya I know about that. But I can have several program numbers within a file. it can get to be time consuming opening the properties menu for each. Plus that doesn't help when copying operations.

It would be great if they could at least add a tab for the nc filename and program number in the parameters menu.

The gouge is because the 3d contour tool path doesn't compensate for the tangency of the ball end mill.

hmm. must be something with my pc or setting because it takes 8 to 15 seconds to pop up even without a part file loaded

No just anywhere in the op manager. the menu pops up just fine in the workspace and any where else. oh and I agree with you on the "toolpath" = open verify

Ok thanks. I will continue to look into this. it isn't anything major but it does get frustrating creating new toolpath groups and naming nc files.

Is anybody else experiencing a 10+ second delay when right clicking in the operations manager? Everywhere else the right click menu pops right up almost instantaneously.
