Yes I am new to this forum.
But I have learned 1 thing already......
Jack may have no problem pissing someone off,but
he also has much less of a problem saying sorry!
Blonde hair jack??
You know what they say about blondes....
Hello..........
No the "dealer" is not the person who hands you
your cards in a game of poker!
No the "dealer" is not the guy who dumped the
machine into your school!
No the "dealer" is not the guy who sells drugs
nearby the school!
But YES the "dealer" is the guy who sells you
a legit copy of mastercam to your school!
Jack,
I read your thread on "smoking the toolmaker".
Sometimes you have to be cruel at heart to prove
a point.
I too enjoy a good fight, for many, this is the only way to get through to a person!
When I ran manual lathes years ago. I worked
side by side with a prima donna older dude.
Just so happens his name is Jack too!(I'm not kidding either)no pun intended.
He was one of those guys from down south who moved to new england but forgot to drop the accent.
You couldn't tell this guy anything!
He used to xxxx me off something fierce.
You couldn't say anything verbally to him to get his "goat", he has heard it all!
He is about 20 yrs. older than me, and was making about $3.00-$4.00 per hr. more than I was.
Even know I "smoked him" on cranking out the parts.
He knew he made more $$ than me,and kinda threw it in my face.
So I had to figure out a way to shut him up once
and for all.
A friend of mine was really good on a computer.
I had him make up a pay stub with my name on it
and about a $4.00 more an hr. rate than his.
I gave it one day to the shop sweeper kid and I
told him to go show it to jack, and tell him that you just found it "on the floor"!
This finially shut his a$$ up.
Now mind you that this is a guy that used to xxxx
me off on a regular basis.
You know what though?
(some time had passed)
All of a sudden 1 day,Jack was out for the day.
And you know what?
Jack never did make it back to work, for he has
diabetes and his legs were going on him.
More time passed and they had to remove his leg,
but before that, he finds his wife dead in bed 1 day!
This guy would work 12 hrs. a day on his feet
at an old manual lathe.
Ater all the crap I had to deal with from him,
I today really miss him.
This one's for you Jack Hinson, for I will never forget you!
Ps. did you take your medication today Jack M. ?
Sounds to me like you may have created the tool
yourself instead of "picking" one out of the library.
The reason I say this is that every time I do this,I forget to assign a feed to the tool in
set up, and it usually "defaults" to .01 IPM
which is extremly slow!
Just a wild guess.
Chris ...
Go to http://www.clicksmilies.com/
Here you will find everything you need
to annoy anyone.
P.S. Don't tell Jack!!
PPS I live 1 mile from where you work.
Sorry that I don't know you yet as I am still
new here.
If I were you, I wouldn't be going anywhere.....
Not at least until you find yourself not being
able to "log on" .
And I don't see that happening.
The webmaster is pretty forgiving...
Just trust me!
I am using 9 sp1
Why is it that when you enter an "i.d." value on
your job set,it does not seem to recocgnize
it when you go to run it in the verify?
Another words, the stock that shows up in verify
is a solid pc. and not a tubular shape that I
described in the set up process.
When you go to run your "bore bar" it shows up
as a crash.
I have tried to tell it to "use job set up values" in the verify, but nothing happens.
Stock stays as a solid cylinder.
Also why does the stl button not work in lathe?
thanx in advance
Jack, I am sorry that we got off to a bad start
and hope we can put it behind us.
This is much more your forum than it is mine.
I am the newbie here and have to prove that I
am worthy here.
After all I am stepping "in" to your GALAXY!
A lot of crap went down all at once and I was not
happy.
I came here to get away from the B.S. over at
gurus.I don't want it here too.
I just want a place that I can post questions and
maybe give out a few answers too. I too agree that the webmaster did an excellent job of extinguishing this thread.
I am truly sorry for anyone I offended.
This place is a premium cnc forum.
I would try an Emuge Rekord D-ti or rekord D
The ti is coated. These work very well.
Keep sfm under 13
speed 161 rpm feed of 5.035 ipm .
This mtl. is pretty tough stuff.
Hope this helps.
Again like Thad said:
What are your speed and feed rates?
Are you doing depths of cut? .001dp. each pass?
What dia. roughly are you cutting for your groove?
This all adds to your time.
Also, forget what your "set up sheet" is saying...
What is the time when you backplot it?
Is it the same???

Hi John,
yes you will have to establish a "datum" point somewhere on your part.
I guess it will depend on where your dim's are
coming from. I would not think you would have to
"take a chip" if you can hold your tolorences.
Especially if you have thru holes.
I would probably agree with you ssibiski if
we were training monkeys to run machines, clean
toilets,wrap pallets, ect.
Then maybe i would feel confdent in saying that
you "can idiot proof" something!
But until then..........
There is A-2 carbon steel and A-2 tool steel
I am assuming it is the tool steel as jack said.
I would try a speed spindle speed of 4900 with
a feed rate of 4.5 ipm.
I got these #'s off my cutdata disc.
If you change to carbide, the #'s tripple.
Hope this helps.
Yes nominal,
I too think it is pretty cool.
I just didnt know if it could be used for any
real purpose.
It was a long time before I even noticed it myself!
I am new to this forum, so I figured I would ask
someone.
There are some really knowledgeable people
here.
In mastercam 9sp1 lathe,if you right click in your
operation manager,at the bottom is a parameter
called "stock view".
What is the purpose of this?
I have played around with it,but do not really
understand the true function of it.
Thank you for helping!
kkominiarek,
I really like eagle edit plot. It is an editor
and "g code" backplotter.
You can download a free trial version at
http://www.mnsi.net/~eaglesd/
I would also see if cimco offers a free trial too. Then you could compare the two.
Mastercam resellers promote what they sell,
I dont think Peter's boss would appreciate him
steering you in the "Eagle" direction, unless
they sold it.He may have never heard of it.
However,it is really worth checking out,and
I am simply just trying to give an opinion from a "users" view, not "sellers" view.
