Thanks for all your help. I know this subject has been covered before but after breaking down to a purchase I became lost. What I`ve done in the past is to take a Bitmap into AutoCad and tracing it. Man, time consuming Then taking it into MC for a tool path. I believe you are all right - there is no easy way. Tazzer - I will check out the site you suggested. Thanks again for all the imput.

I recently purchased Adobe Illustrator to go from Raster to Vector. I was told this is all I needed. Have`nt figured it out yet. Does anyone have any experiance with this and may be some suggestions? Thanks is advance.

In the FTP site/ MC9 files - I put an excel page in there called bumper. I lasered this out. It`s endless and awsome to play with.

Went from AutoCAD,after 10 years, to Solidworks. 100 percent improvement.

If you still don`t see anything - try changing your back ground in AutoCAD to white or black. Which ever one you`re not using.

Harryman - I don`t understand the statement? All I know is this was the instructions given to me and it works. On the other hand - hows MN doing? Spent 11 years in Golden Valley - loved it.

Ed - Had the same problem when we went to 2004. The way I got it to work - uninstall, delete folder in Explorer. Reinstall. Then you have to down load all three patches and install them one at a time. You can`t just down load the 2.1 patch. First install 1.0 patch, reboot, install 2.0 patch, reboot then install 2.1 patch, reboot. This was the the insrtuctions given to me from our seller. Good Luck. Before going threw this - try another file just to make sure it`s not just that one that has issues.

Solidworks is the way to go. We picked up each suite for about $4K. Transfers parimetrics great to MasterCam. And, will open Pro-E files, except for Wildfire. But they`re working on that for the next upgread.

I do this every day. I agree with Gorn. Save out as a parisolid. Just double check the scale in SW and make sure it`s a 1:1.

This has been very interesting.If you don`t mind my 2 cents - I served 3 years in VietNam in the Marine Corp. I love this country and would do it again. I put 7 children in the service, 2 are still in. A daughter flies the CH-47 and a son that`s a first sargent in special forces. I think it was on the first page of this discussion were I read "son if you don`t leave the house - they can`t hurt you" WRONG, because it will get to a point when they will come INTO your house to get you.
