Hello. I am back at this problem again. I have a rotary table on the Z axis. The part and table are too big for the machine so right now we bring the tool down to the part at a specified location and as the tool moves in Z axis the table turns. I can get the table to turn but how do i get the tool to stay in one point in X and Y while feeding on Z axis?
Yea i just thought i might have made a mistake by changing the subject. sorry about that. I have the part complete now and the Mastercam file is over 9 mb and the program is 84,000 lines long.
Hello, I am having a little issue getting the tab function to work. Can someone help me with this? Do i need the geometry for tabs? I turn it on but when i do the verify it doesnt machine tabs.
I am getting somehwat the same issue but i did what was suggested and the program looks better. now if i could get the actual program length shorter i would be happy. on the finish pass i get say 9000 lines of code and it takes 20 minutes to load and i have 5 of them to machine.
Colin,
thank you for your help. Is there a way to select the surface you want to machine and have the cutter go across it with out the extra work? almost like a facing routine? is that overhang going to cause a lot of problems?
Sure i will put the files in the x4 folder. I could not get the program to run here, kept saying cad file not found. I am now trying to straighten the surfaces so i can use a regular ball end mill not a lolipop. I am not having too much luck fixing the surfaces.
Hello, I need some help. I uploaded a file in the MX4 file folder on the FTP site called sm03.mcx. I am using X4. I need to program machining out the surfaces in the part. I have tried everything i can think of and it just doesnt work. Can someone please down load the file and let me know how to machine the surfaces in the middle of the part? I am going to load the part in a regular vice and use a ball endmill to machine it.
Thank You
Ron,
Thank you for the file. it is better but i was trying to have the cutter machine the boss and then machine the flat surface to ensure there would be no step there. I still see a step. Is this possible? or am i crazy?
Hello, I am going to upload a file called joels1.mcx. I am using Mc X4 and if you could please look at the file as i am trying for the last 2 days to get the surface machining correct. The object is a boss and i need to machine it and that part might be ok but i cant seem to get the flat bottom surface to match up with the boss surface. It seems to leave a little step so i tried diferent cutters (bull nose and radius) to no avail. So now i created the flat surface at the base of the boss but now MC doesnt want to machine it. Can someone please take a look at the program and let me know what i am doing wrong?
Hello, I am using Mastercam X4 and i am trying to surface say a square and a circle together that is about 1 inch apart and they are 35 deg out of parallel. I remember doing this but it has been a long time, can someone please assist me in remembering how to surface this?
I figured it out. on my screen almost in the center of the ribbon bar is a button called "only" that was the one i needed. Thanks for all your suggestions.
I am lost. I have all the geometry and stuff on level one. I want to capture only the splines and move it to level 2. I dont see how to do the examples above. Sorry. I have uase Mastercam for years and now i have the time to really understand it and get faster so that is why i am asking this.
I really feel dumb asking this question but i cant figure out how to do it. I have a model (not solid) just surfaces from a IGES file. I created curves on the edges and now i would like to move all the nurbs spline to another level. I dont want to go through and select every one. Is there a way to set a filter to select only splines? to move to another level?
