Does anybody know if Mastercam can load the E fixture height. For example on certain jobs i use 1 inch parallels to raise the part so on these programs i would like to change the fixture height when the program is loaded and change it back to zero when another program is loaded. Thank you for your help.
I forgot i am drilling 4 inches deep with no thru the turret coolant. i burned up 2 cobalt .500 dia drills today. i was going .005 rev and spindle speed 500 rpm.
I have used Autocad and Mastercam for 2d drawings and it seems Mastercam doesnt do a real good 2d drawing like other cad programs. I am looking to purchase one but i dont know how much solidworks costs.
I have to make some simple tool and fixture drawings. The engineering dept uses Solidworks. we have Mastercam 9.1 on the PC in the shop.I need to do some drawings on the PC. Does anybody use Mastercam for tool drawing or do you use something else like Autocad or Solidworks.
I could not get stock flip to work right. Once i made the geometry and did the stock flip if i wanted to make changes i couldnt figure out how to do that so i would have to start over. so we decided not to use stock flip.
i searched for special drills to break up the chips but i could not find any. I even asked the vendors at Westec last year and they didnt have any so i asked the Fadal rep at the show and he said to set the machine to peck to break up the chips. I run 4 parts on a pallet and if i dont peck by the time the drill gets to the last part it may have enought chips on the shank to rub and burn the 4th part. It is slower but i need good parts and i cant stand at the machine to watch it. I run a Fadal 4020 with thru the spindle coolant and it worked great but it keeps leaking in the housing thru the seals and ruins the belts so we dont us it and we have had Fadal out twice for this and they cant fix it so we dont use it.
i machine delerin everyday on a fadal vmc. one example is we drill using a guhring 7/16 drill at 20 inches a minute at 1500 rpm. the biggest problem is the chips breaking up so they dont wrap on the drill so we have to use a peck cycle which takes more time.
i am in Rancho Dominguez Ca, I start advanced mastercam next week at NTMA in Cerritos. I would love to have more training but i will be tied up for 16 weeks. i remember we did the surfacing in the begining mastercam class but i dont remember doing any tool paths like that. i learn from the forum here and by trial and error.
Bernis you are right and i didnt think of it. so the ruled toolpath wont work. thanks for the input. i will tell the boss what we came up with. i would try the coons but i dont think we have access to that but if we do i will try it.
i had to make a simular part a few months ago and someone here suggested i use wireframe-ruled and it worked great. but now i am trying to incorperate a radius move too and ruled is flat only so i dont know if it can be done. we only have level one mill so no surface machining.
i need some help. I uploaded a file to the ftp folder called mc9. the file is called joel20.mc9. if someone could look at this file and help me i would appreciate it. i am using a ruled wireframe for the tool path on top of the part but i also need to machine the radius next to the wireframe path doees anybody know how to do this? the radius is .062.or is the wireframe unable to do this?
I plan on going to westec in march and stopping by the MAstercam booth. Does anybody know what they plan on doing? i mean like training or just a demo?
Bernie. That was great!!!I did what you said and it worked perfect. They told us to make sure the geometry was clean when i took the mastercam class but i guess i was ina hurry. I got the model from solidworks but i guess it isnt clean enough. thanks again
I need some help. I must be doing something wrong or i need surfacing option. I am using a ruled toolpath and if you look at the file in the FTP folder MC9 i put a file called joel10.mc9
if you look at the corners of the ruled toolpath it gouges them out and the bigger the cutter radius the worst it gets. does anybody have a idea what i am doing wrong?
