  1. When I want to change the parameters in the history tree, and then go to another one with the exact same name (ie 1/2 DIA DOWEL PIN) to change it, the first parameter dialog box comes up instead ... it doesn't matter which set of parameters I select, the first box only comes up ... I had to save and re-open the file to make the next change ... Now, when I do one, and then go to another of a different name, it works OK ... Anyone, else???
  2. For the most part, I can overlook the problems with verify aince i use Vericut 7.0.0 on all programs ...
  3. try this: unblank ... all enities ... OK delete ... all enities ... OK. then, clear color, cuz everything will be selected on blank levels as well ... This works for me ... PS ... may have to do it twice
  4. Thanks Midwest, we are doing that now in connection with what Thad suggest ... but was hoping for another way of making them "stand out" better ... Maybe in an up and coming release, they cam add color, bold and italic options, AND add these option to separate both machine and toolpath groups in the Operation Manager as well ... TOYS, TOYS, GIVE MORE TOYS ...
  5. quote: I've got a lot of faith in some of those guys up there. And I really appreciate the one on one help provided by Chris Bell in particular. AMEN ... (oops ... religious side came out)
  6. gcode, I did everything on your list (max performance is really "best performace" correct?), except WinPro SP3 ... but on large files (80MB) still the front faces only are black, rest of stock is grey ... smaller files OK also, on this file, when saving to STL, if "remove chip" is checked, I cannot "pick to keep one" ... files is 0k, when unchecked, the file is 13MB ... PS ... one of my workers is using X3 mu1 and it does it on his was well ... original file created in X3 MU1 ... could this be associated? PPS ... also does this on Win Vista with 64 bits Quatro FX 4800
  7. NVIDIA PhysX configuration ... do you have it enabled?
  8. How big the files? some of our gets up to 200 MB
  9. oops ... spoke too soon ... on a 80MB file, all the front faces are black, but everything else is OK ... will have to look into this and do some testing ...
  10. No problem, but just would like to know how to move this bar like the other ribbon and tool bars ... is this possible?
  11. Eric, this is not what I am after ... I want the "level's names" in the level manager to have different colors, not the geometry ... As it was said in Dead Poets, "Ding, wrong, but thanks for playing."
  12. Has anybody conside the problem may be caused by Window SP3? I had to uninstall it because of some problems it was causing on my laptop ... and here the IT guy refuses to install it becuse he has had some problems as well ... I am on Window XP Pro v2002 SP2, Quatro FX 3700 with dual 24" Samsung monitors, Xeon dual quad-core (E5430 @ 2.66GHz), 3.25 RAM @ 2.66GHz and I opened CATIA V5R19, NX 6.0, and Vericut 6.2.2 and then ran Mastercam verify and I have absolutly no problems ... Just a guess ...
  13. Thanks ... I had a few problems at the beginning of X4 and thought they were related, but guess not ... I started using it only once a week in class when I was instructing it ... the shop where i was only had X2 ... but here, I have X4 and one week later X4 MU1 ... so now I am running two, sometimes 3 and 4 instances ... I use the other for review and cut/paste notes, geometry, etc.
  14. Thad ... that's what we do now ... Eric and Rickster ... explain more please ... do you have examples?
  15. I would get this warning when opening a 2nd mastercam: quote: You are about to launch an additional instance of Mastercam. Mastercam does not support multiple instances. Instability and data loss may occur. Click OK to ignore this warning and launch the additional instance of Mastercam. Click Cancel to cancel the launch. In X4, both would chut down unexpectantly ... has this bug been fixed in MU1? Is it now safe to do so? I haven't try but soon will ... Also, where can I find the list of "bugs fixes"?
  16. Is there a way to change font color on one level and not another? I use some levels as "info only" and no geometry ... this would make them stand out and easier to read ...
  17. I have NVIDIA Quatro FX 3700 with latest drivers ... gradient background in diagonal... start is 207 and end is 160 ... verify work perfect both Top tool plane and created WCS toolpane ... Also, both my 3D Connexion SpacePilot and my X-Keys works great ... Sorry, can't help ...
  18. I did not see a list of bugs fixes ... only explains "What's new ..."
  19. got it loaded ... hopefully, it will get some of the bugs I have been having ...
  20. FYI ... for those who do not understand virtual memory and how it is used by the computer: With virtual memory, what the computer can do is look at RAM for areas that have not been used recently and copy them onto the hard disk. This frees up space in RAM to load the new application. Because this copying happens automatically, you don't even know it is happening, and it makes your computer feel like is has unlimited RAM space. Because hard disk space is so much cheaper than RAM chips, it also has a nice economic benefit. The read/write speed of a hard drive is much slower than RAM, and the technology of a hard drive is not geared toward accessing small pieces of data at a time. If your system has to rely too heavily on virtual memory, you will notice a significant performance drop. The key is to have enough RAM to handle everything you tend to work on simultaneously -- then, the only time you "feel" the slowness of virtual memory is when there's a slight pause when you're changing tasks. When that's the case, virtual memory is perfect. When it is not the case, the operating system has to constantly swap information back and forth between RAM and the hard disk. This is called thrashing, and it can make your computer feel incredibly slow. The area of the hard disk that stores the RAM image is called a page file. It holds pages of RAM on the hard disk, and the operating system moves data back and forth between the page file and RAM. The amount of hard drive space you allocate for virtual memory is important. If you allocate too little, you will get "Out of Memory" errors. If you find that you need to keep increasing the size of the virtual memory, you probably are also finding that your system is sluggish and accesses the hard drive constantly. In that case, you should consider buying more RAM to keep the ratio between RAM and virtual memory about 2:1. Some applications enjoy having lots of virtual memory space but do not access it very much. In that case, large paging files work well. One trick that can improve the performance of virtual memory (especially when large amounts of virtual memory are needed) is to make the minimum and maximum sizes of the virtual memory file identical. This forces the operating system to allocate the entire paging file when you start the machine. That keeps the paging file from having to grow while programs are running, which improves performance. Many video applications recommend this technique to avoid pauses while reading or writing video information between hard disk and tape. Another factor in the performance of virtual memory is the location of the pagefile. If your system has multiple physical hard drives (not multiple drive letters, but actual drives), you can spread the work among them by making smaller pagefiles on each drive. This simple modification will significantly speed up any system that makes heavy use of virtual memory. HTH
  21. Thanks Robert, That was the video I was looking for ...
  22. "you got mail" auto reply: "Out of office until Oct 13"???? Hope you are on line ...
  23. quote: he just needs the proof from CNC software to convince his IT guy. WOW ... someone actually read the post AND understood it ... thanks, now maybe we will make some headway ... I thought it was from Mastercam, In-House or CamInstructor, but can't seem to find it ...
  24. quote: WinXP path >> Control Panel >> System >> Advanced TAB >> Performance (Settings) >> Advanced TAB >> Virtual Memory (Change) that does nothing to answer my question ... re-read the post ...
