  1. I am making an o-ring groove .250 wide x .250 deep with a 2.0" diameter on a 5-aix type of surface keeping it normal to the surface with a 2 deg lead ... I want to ramp or helix with a full final pass a depth (like the one in 2D contour) Which multi-axis tool is best ... Curve 5 axis, swarf 5 axis, etc. Thanks
  2. Here's my $.02 ... 1) Show them how to do ... 2) Assist them in doing it ... 3) Let them do it without help ... 4) Encourage them to experiment with different parameters ... 5) Help them to find other ways to do the same task ... If using a tutorial ... stick to it so they can reference it later ... add different methods once they did the book work ... Be patience ...
  3. After one week ... it is still 2/3 of mastercammers wants to upgrade MU1 ...
  4. welcome to forum in mc9, If my memory serves me right, use Next Menu and coversion to/from step is there (or the next menu)
  5. The mouse pad that came with X4 was 4" square, smaller than the What's New Book ...
  6. quote: I am not interested in arguing with you which seems to be your motive. Sorry, that was and is NOT my motives ... just trying to get it straight in my head ... quote: My mission was to get the facts, If you just wanted FACTS and NOT HELP you will need to rephrase your question to say so ... or take it to Off Topics ... But, as for your answers, everything said to HELP YOU, you should use ... quote: 1) I create my original WCS (s) of the part geometry. part geometry, or two lines, all the same ... do what gcode said about making it associated ... but be careful when using part geometry, if you change it, the WCS will update as well ... better to use two lines (in my opinion) ... quote: 2) I sometimes wish to rotate the WCS for several reasons, most commonly when I do a save-as on another file to use a template for a new (similar) part. Exactly what I do, but when I rotate the two lines, the WCS update and no new views are created ... Again, I am not arguing, but since I have been using Mastercam from v3.11 thru X4 MU1, I have had a need to do it any other way ... I also am familiar with programming in SmartCAM, CATIA, and Unigraphic ... Are we still friends?
  7. quote: In our shop when we're just doing 3 axis vise work, we create a new view/T-plane/C-plane for each op, but leave the WCS on Top view. I sorry, but this may seem like dumb question, but why are you making additional T/C planes if you are not using a 4th or 5th axis?
  8. quote: I see your mission is to get a couple of people to admit to something. And I thought he was WANTING help ...
  9. quote: was not ignoring you, I was asking code_breaker How about answering my two questions?
  10. My second question is "Why do you want to rotate your original WCS?"
  11. My question is "How are you creating the original new WCS?"
  12. quote: I am self taught with this and therefore I may really be missing the boat. quote: If you are rotating geometry linked to the WCS, that's not the same thing as I am asking. Then it is time to quit asking ... enough has been said ... there is no more help for you on this subject ...
  13. quote: How many people feel that Mastercam gives a **** about their existing customers. Bullet Bob fires again ... hitting the bulls eye ....
  14. Good Morning ... I am back ... quote: I want to rotate the WCS in the current view without creating a new view and then having to delete my original and rename the new. I do EXACTLY what you are asking ... I rotate my WCS WITHOUT creating a new view and I DON'T delete the original and I DON'T rename the new, because there ISN'T ANY NEW VIEWS. gcode +1000 quote: You can do a hundred operations in a minute with this technique. ... You alway says it to eloquently ... Dan +1000 quote: Changing your WCS is like taking the part out of its' fixture and repositioning it to another one ... I make a New Machine Group also as posted above ... it keep your files organize and easy for the next person to pick up where you left off without hours of wasted time trying to figure it all out ... Leigh +1000 quote: I think my most complex part had around 20 coordinate systems, and manipulating them was simple (and required). Wow ... I thought I was bad with 9 or 10 ... way to go ...
  15. quote: More precisely, I would have a different WCS for each operation of a part. Exactly, for example, OP-1 is in vise on a 3-axis machine, and OP-2 is on a horizontal tombstone ... and if there is a rotation on the tombstone, say 90 turn to drill some holes, I will create and WCS to use as a T/C plane, while keeping the TOP WCS from OP-2. Also, if you must, you can make "relative planes" to your original WCS ... quote: View manager manages WCS. Maybe if should be renamed? Gotta go home ... any more questions, I will answer in morning ...
  16. Sorry, I was editing when you posted ... I don't use views, I only manipulat the WCS ...
  17. With all the discussions, I think everyone missed the answer to the original question ... HT wrote: quote: If you created a view using 2 line method, that view will associate with those 2 line so where ever you move or rotate those line your view will go with them. HTH I do this all the time, and it works great for me ... I have designated level 100-199 for WCS geometry ... I use a "template file" with several WCS created from geometry (op-1, op-2, etc)... most part I get I leave in aerospace just in case I get a mating part (and I do) ... I select on of the WCS and move, and/or rotate to the proper postion ... no new WCS created, still using same name ... only position changed ... Just thought I point this back out to you ... keep it cool
  18. You're welcome ... 110 voters 30% want to leave MU1 as it is ... no changes 70% want upgrade ... too many problems BUT WILL ANYTHING BE DONE ... I THINK NOT ... Just let the peons suffer ...
  19. Is there no solution to my annoying situation? My Operation Manager is on the far left screen, and when I double-click on "parameters", dialog box ALWAYS opens on the far right screen no matter where I moved it ... a lot of head movement. For example:
  20. quote: Omnia mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis, Alea jacta est, Qui tacet consentit. "All things are changing, and we are changing with them, the die is cast, who keeps silence consents" I hear you ...
  21. quote: I think there are enough issues that a service pack, free to all MU1 users, regardless of sim date, is in order.. +1000 almost 3 to 1 want an update package ...
  22. After 24 hrs it is 2 to 1 to "destroy MU1 and upgrade to MU2" [HINT] Since twice as many people want to replace MU1 as keep it, I wonder if Mastercam will do domething ... [/HINT]
  23. quote: Works fine and utilizes everything are two different things. I went to you links and didn't find anything about how 32-bits does NOT utilizes dual quad cores ... Did I miss something there?
  24. quote: upgrade to a 64 bit os. Windows 32 won't utilize the dual quads and all of the quadros vid memory. You're wasting hardware. I sent an email to IT guy to see if he will do this ... do you have a link that backs up what you said?
