  1. Thanks Robert, quote: First, copying and pasting code from another post ... Knew that and made the changes ... did not make the changes I was looking for quote: Instead of Settings > Control Definition Manager, try ... I was doing it the way you suggest ... still did not work ... quote: Second, make sure that your part is using the control definition Did that ... quote: Third, if you're using X2, go to the Documentation folder ... I will do this ... thanks I will continue looking for a solution ...
  2. John, I copied your CODE but it did not do anything ... I tried the CODE from MPmaster and nothing ... Jim, The places you are speaking about doesn't address my issues, except where the TABS are concerned (see my earlier post) Roger, I am not sure what you are referring to ... still looking for an answer (if there is one) ...
  3. Yes, it was updated from v9 ... Can I just cut and paste your code? Also, where does it get this info if not in the post? Tons on changes from a generic post ... Is there anything else missing when upgrading from v9 to X2 (or higher)? Maybe, "What's new in posts"?
  4. I opened my POST and did a seach for CONTROL but could not find what you were talking about ... also use page down and went thru entire POST down thru the number section as well ...
  5. X2 Settings ==> Control Definition Manager ==> Text ==> Mill Canned Cycle Description Double click in a cell to edit text Well that didn't work ... it does allow me to change the "tab" text, but not he "cycle" text any other suggestions?
  6. I did this in v9, but can't find it for X2 ... For example, when using a drill, under "cycle", the choices are "Drill/Cbore", "Peck drill", "chip break", "tap", etc. I like to change them to "G81-Spot drill", "G83 - Peck drill", etc. What is the name of the file and where is it located? Thanks
  7. Thanks ... actually saw the parameters the second time ...
  8. I remember being able to create poins onto a surface/soild with lines normal to the surface/face for CMM inspection ... giving a lead-in and out which approached the surface/face perpendicular. How can you do this in X2 or X3? I know about Xform ==> rect array, and then Xform project ... but not how to offset the points normal/perpendicular to the surface/face. Thanks
  9. Nevermind ... somehow it got change in the TOP WCS work plane ... changed it to 0 ... thanks ...
  10. Yesterday, I used the PLANE selection to change the Work Offset to 0 for part of the program and 1 for the second part (using two vises) ... The default, up to now was turned of with -1 greyed out. Now, everytime I start a new file, the default is turned on with 1 in the box. Even if I set it to 0, the next tool operation resets it back to 1 ... How can I get this back to default at -1 and turned off?
  11. Somehow, I closed, deleted, moved, or ate my MRU toolbar and cannot get it back. I went to Configuration and turned it of, then back on, but nothing happened ... even tried to increased the number of functions in the MRU toolbar but nothing ... not in Toolbar States either ... Anyone knows how to turn it back on again? [edit] NEVERMIND ... right click on ribbon bar to get drop down menu ... [/edit]
  12. Setting ==> Configuration (alt-F8) ... then under Color pull slider to bottom and select System origin color and pick your color. HTH
  13. Actually, your roughing looks good, but do as Dan suggested concerning the cutter. Keep in mind the width between bosses and stock to leave must be larger than the diameter of the tool. As for finishing, may I suggest using 2D pocket to finish floor, staying off the wallsm then finishing the wall using rough pocket with the roughing turned off and only the finish turned on in the parameters. This will give you a level Z movement. Happy programming ...
  14. quote: Your students will learn a lot more from you this way, and they will know that they have options. I did just that ... demonstrated several methods and taught them to think outside the box quote: For me, I would just like to thank everyone that participated in this discussion. Very true ... my thanks to all as well ...
  15. quote: Why the exercise has it working and it is not that needs to be addressed by the author. ???? not sure what you mean ... the tutorial excercise does NOT work ... quote: If the spline or chains it is following does not have enough space to allow the swept shape to be a whole shape through it then a solid should fail I understand ... but does not apply here ... Try this: create an half circle 2.0" dia on front plane with a line closeing the geometry at origin, create anoter arc with line with an .5 dia. arc, at X-20.", then create an 20" arc on the top plane to sweep along ... You will not get a tapered solid, but TWO separate solid, one for each of the geometries. The smaller crossing geometry is not folding onto itself ... Unless, I am missing something here ... other solid-based software have no problems ...
  16. Just use the standard Drill/Cbore cycle to your desired depth (-.250) and then copy operation in your Operation Manager, change the cycle to peck drill, change Top of stock to -.25, Retract to the rapid plane above the part ... regenerate the toolpath. Ta-Da ... no editing of NC file ... HTH
  17. FTP site on c-hooks needs updating to separate the many different version of Mastercam ... some are "time" related and should be deleted if not updated ... Just my opinion ...
  18. What I have done without making a custome drill cycle is use G81 for the initial peck, and then G83 for the remainder of the depth. Also, I do this when drilling through a crossing hole (like crossing water lines in a backplate) ... G83 to the hole, G81 through to the other edge as a faster feed, and continue with G83 to completion. just my .02 worth ...
  19. quote: This appears to be a limitation of Mastercam in this case What I don't understand is how something like this slipped thru the cracks ... You think that if the algorithm works for surfaces that it would work, or a similar one, for solid ... I am sure I am not the first to try and make a solid from the geometry in Mastercam Tutorial. It has been around for years ... plus, the hundreds of other application which required something along these lines (or splines ) ... Will this be addressed someday?
  20. Thanks Michael ... got your email ...
  21. In one of the In-House Tutorial, there is a sample drawing of a hairdyer with no dimensions or geometry. Does anyone have the drawing and/or sample file? Thanks
  22. quote: Looking at the geo you cant do it since the arcs though in the same plane they arent @ the same z level. Even when I used the same arc/line (enclosed) it doesn't work ... quote: try closing the geo to be swept. quote: All geometry must be closed to create solids I know that ... and been doing that ...
