  1. Don't forget to click Run or Step to drive backplot to the stop point after you set the stop parameters (just a reminder).
  2. Did you select "As defined" under Backplot display --> Appearance --> Profile?
  3. Since you have Mastercam v7.0, it's better to update it to v7.2c (free for v7 customer, your dealer might be able to make a CD copy for you.) I've done file transfers with Milltronics Centurion V controllers using regular software handshake RS-232 cable. I would start with that.
  4. The weekend was fine, just a little short, I left home on Sunday to go on a business trip and writing to you in a hotel room right now - this is the few chances that I get to sit down and practice English How was your weekend? You are very kind in your words, but I'm not one of the best in DNC for sure. Every day I find out how much I don't know and how much I need to learn...... I'm not into this for battle either (already too many in this world, big or small, isn't it?). I say things as how I think they are, so I hope I haven't offended you too much. It is our time 1:22am here, what is your time now? This is getting far away from batraul's original post, so I should stop here. Have a good night, Ying.
  5. Cadcam, No I'm not a salesman, of all the DNC software that we have used, DNC-Max is the best one so far. We have solved many DNC problems with DNC-Max where other DNC software failed on us. Many users on this forum say that Mastercam is the best in it's market, and that's how I think about CIMCO DNC-Max. DNC-Max's developers listens to users and implements real-life user needed features. And this process is on going. I install DNC turn key solutions on weekly bases and also helps other DNC dealers from the east cost to the west cost of Canada. Many of our customers switches to DNC-Max from all kinds of other DNC software. Some switched because of advance features, some switched for the reliability, some did for the easy of use, etc...... Regardless it is CAM or DNC, end of the day, what customers want is software that does the job powerfully and reliably (hopefully the software is reasonably priced as well), and as solutions providers, we'd like to have as many happy customers as possible by for filling their manufacturing software needs. Sure there will be people argue with this, just like with anything else. But action/performance speaks for itself.
  6. Check out the greatest DNC products out there: CIMCO DNC-Max & CIMCO NFS Server. With TNC426 RS-232 port, I use DNC-Max Heidenhain LSV2 protocol which allows you to see files on PC and files on TNC side by side right at the CNC controller. (Make sure the TNC426 is set to use LSV2.) For TNC426 Ethernet connection, I use CIMCO NFS server. (CIMCO makes the Heidenhain NFS!) You can download 30 days full working demo versions from the following web sites: http://www.dncmax.com http://www.cimco-software.com http://www.cimco-integration.com Give it a shot, you'll like it.
  7. Yes, it was a very good show! Whe did you go? I was there for all 3 days. (I would be even more happy if I could speak French)
  8. The default data path for mill tools in Mastercam v9 lathe is set to MCAM9MILLTOOLS, The MC9 file for holder is HOLDER.MC9 (MCAM9MILLTOOLSHOLDER.MC9) And yes, you can scale it.
  9. I know how that feels like, did you try to call them? I've had suppliers that don't reply emails but answers phone calls NORSLO Components Ltd. Tel: +44 (0) 1638 665483 Fax: +44 (0) 1638 666521 What about other suppliers like www.fanox.com or www.schrackrelays.com? Maybe they can give some more info.
  10. This has nothing to do with Mastercam, but you might want to contact them: http://www.norslocomponents.ltd.uk/products.htm
  11. If you use the finishing path in the roughing parameter, the outer boundary will be finished first, then MC will finish the 1st. chained island, 2nd. chained island... Another way to do is do the roughing without finishing path, then chain each island as you wish for finishing. (We did this in the older versions of MC)
  12. Then it translated the French back to English as: --- For ops, you can also make: The compress of --> of ops of the --> Def. of GOLD utils, then choose to it the your * file and the catch of op8 "opens". V9 Mastercam will compress * file of op8 then * the op9 ---
  13. That's fun, translated my last post into French as this: --- Pour des ops, vous pouvez également faire: La compresse de --> d'ops du --> Def. d'utils d'OR, choisissent alors le votre * le dossier et le déclic d'op8 "s'ouvrent". V9 Mastercam comprimera alors * dossier d'op8 * l'op9 --- Fred, does it make sense?
  14. How about import the doc/txt file into MS Excel and modified the columns in Excel?
  15. For ops, you can also do: NC utils --> Def. ops --> Compress, then select your *.op8 file and click "Open". V9 Mastercam will then compress the *.op8 file to *.op9
  16. Check in Mastercam help file: "Intended use ...... Does not modify feed rates when cutter compensation in control is used. ...... "
  17. Looks like v8 does the analyz in 2 steps (Entity 1 & 2) and v9 does it in one: v8--------v8--------v8 Coordinates are world coordinates Entity 1: Arc CW Center: X: 0.00000 Y: 0.00000 Z: 0.00000 View: 1 Startpoint: X: 0.50000 Y: -0.00000 Z: 0.00000 Angle: 360.00000 Endpoint: X: -0.50000 Y: 0.00000 Z: 0.00000 Angle: 180.00000 Radius: 0.50000 Diameter: 1.00000 Sweep: -180.00000 3D Length: 1.57080 Entity 2: Arc CW Center: X: 0.00000 Y: 0.00000 Z: 0.00000 View: 1 Startpoint: X: -0.50000 Y: 0.00000 Z: 0.00000 Angle: 180.00000 Endpoint: X: 0.50000 Y: 0.00000 Z: 0.00000 Angle: 0.00000 Radius: 0.50000 Diameter: 1.00000 Sweep: -180.00000 3D Length: 1.57080 Total length = 3.14159 ---------------------- v9--------v9--------v9 Coordinates are world coordinates Entity 1: Arc CW Center: X: 0.00000 Y: 0.00000 Z: 0.00000 View: 1 Startpoint: X: 0.50000 Y: -0.00000 Z: 0.00000 Angle: 360.00000 Endpoint: X: 0.50000 Y: 0.00000 Z: 0.00000 Angle: 0.00000 Radius: 0.50000 Diameter: 1.00000 Sweep: -360.00000 3D Length: 3.14159 Total length = 3.14159 ----------------------
  18. Try this: "(FILE", 35, ")", e ASCII 35 = #
  19. http://www.asciitable.com/ has nice tales as well.
  20. -- This is a loooooong message, hope it helps. Many of our Mastercam customers ask about DNC with Mastercam. I've seen quite a few DNC topics on this forum as well. For everyone out there who is wondering about the same thing, here is my 2 cents: If you have a one or two CNC machines. You can do DNC with your Mastercam computer. "Old fashion" "File --> Next menu --> Communic" has helped a lot in the past (Back in older versions of Mastercam, I always set it to DOS communications mode). Ever since CIMCO Edit (CNC-Edit in Mastercam v7) came on board, it made DNC in Mastercam even better. If your CNC sends out XOn character when you press "Read", "Cycle start", etc..., then be sure to turn on "Wait for XOn" under "Transmit" in CIMCO Edit DNC setup (Transmission -->DNC Setup -->Setup), This way you can send your NC codes from the Mastercam computer first, then walk to CNC to press the button. (Rather than set CNC to read file, then walk to PC to send file, then walk back to CNC). If your have more CNC's than your PC COM ports and you don't do simultaneous NC file transfer, you could use CIMCO Edit with switch boxes. This is not the best solution but a very low cost solution. The CIMCO Edit in Mastercam is a standard OEM version. You can also purchase as standalone, full version of CIMCO Edit (Professional Edition - includes math functions, G codes backplot and can be upgrade to up to 6 simultaneous DNC connections). CIMCO Edit can be set as the default Mastercam file editor by: "Screen -- > Configure --> Start/Exit --> (select CIMCOEDIT under Editor)" (Besides DNC, CIMCO Edit is also very helpful to CNC programmers for file editing, check out the "NC Functions" and "File Compare" if you haven't.) However, if you are looking for a real DNC system that can network your entire CNC shop floor, you should consider a DNC software not only allows you to do multi ports simultaneous DNC transmission, but also give you "remote request" and "auto receive" functions so that the operators can send and receive NC files right at CNC without walking back and forth (Time is money!). In this case, CIMCO's DNC-Max is my DNC software of choice. Many of our customers love the fact that DNC-Max checks the header and footer of received file and sends out message to CNC based on real situation. Not to mention all the powerful things DNC-Max can do. To me, it just works. In terms of DNC cable, if the distance between CNC and PC is less than 50ft, then a regular shielded RS-232 cable will do the job. However, if there is a lot nose interference or the distance is a few hundred feet away, then it is the best to choice a double shielded, low capacitance RS-232 cable. RS-422 hardware are very good for longer distance. All DNC cables should be be routed away from noise sources such as arc welders, transformers, fluorescent lights, etc. And all CNC machines should be ground properly. Many of Mastercam dealers do DNC service, contact your local Mastercam dealer if you need help. For Canadian customers, if you are looking for good DNC solutions, send your request to me and I'll be gald to help. -- Ying Jiang In-House Solutions Inc. http://www.inhousesolutions.com mailto:[email protected]
  21. Did you try "High feed machining"? Also there is a "Adjust feed on arc move" option in Job Setup.
  22. 你可以使用中英互譯軟件,例如:(You can use some Chinese <--> English translation software, such as http://www.iciba.net/fait2002.asp
  23. Sounds like you might have "Contour type" set to "2D" instead of "2D chamfer". Ying. [ 11-23-2001: Message edited by: Ying Jiang ]
  24. SWI web site mentioned that DNC is an option, do you have it on you machine? With MC7.2, you can also try the CNC Edit from CIMCO Integration (It comes with MC v7). DNC-Max is a very good DNC software, you can download a demo version from http://www.dncmax.com/ (You can also download CIMCO Edit from there for a mini dnc, the OEM version of CIMCO Edit comes in MC v8).
  25. "Main Menu --> NC utils --> Power set" allow you to pre-set parameters such as wire overburn. Is that what you are looking for?
