  1. Thad it will be up around 35rc. Thanks everyone for you input. Think ill try the multimaster and maybe a tungaloy for finishing
  2. Hello everyone. Ive got some surface maching to do with a 3/8 ball endmill in 4140 prehard material. There are quite a few of these to do so I dont think carbide endmills will be cost effecient so im looking for something insertable. Been looking at some multi-master cutters by Iscar. Just wondering if anyone has used these and your opinion on them. Any input will help on determining what type cutters to look for.
  3. is there a way to make mc associate levels with certain colors. Example Level 1 = Red Level 2 = Green Level 3 = Purple and so on.
  4. This is something ive always wanted to do. Make every piece of a scaled down v-8 engine. But my there are many parts that need major machine work. This will have to wait till im at a level of programming as the Crazy MillMan
  5. If you have a DC machine I would check my resolvers. And if you have an AC machine it could be your encoder. Loose couplings and high feed rates i have seen to cause this also.
  6. ssibiski I used to cut the lens's for gator sunglasses. Sniper Viper Zgatorz Zodiac
  7. Im not sure what the problem is but if everyone is looking for a chat room why not use an irc channel. This has probly already been suggested and ruled out but just thought I would bring it up.
  8. In many applications, the geometry consists of an assembly of individual parts, which together represent a functioning component. These parts often have mating surfaces, and for typical analyses these surfaces should be joined into a single surface. This results in a mesh on that surface which is shared by the volume meshes on either side of the shared surface. Found this definition. Dont know if its correct for what your doing but it sounds good.
  9. G84.2 is to prepare the machine for ridgid tap G84.1 is ridgid tap G0G90S500.1 X0Y0E1 Z.5H1M8 G84.2(PREPARE FOR RIDGID TAP) G84.1 BLAH BLAH BLAH This is how I was taught to run ridgid tap on a Fadal. Its worked for many years now. Maybe the reason your machine isnt overriding the feed and speeds controls, not really sure tho ive never had that problem.
  10. Jimmy I can reverse it on our cmm but was looking for a faster way. Something so I could just scan then import into cam. Thanks for everyones input.
  11. Awight everyone. I have a cutout of a mounting plate on a piece of cardboard. Is there a way to scan this into some sort of program then into mastercam and get the actual dimensions of the geometry. Or better yet just scan straight into MC.
  12. Well it was nice this weekend and had sleet here yesterday. Today is supposed to get around 60, and keep rising until sunday to the 80's. If so it'll be a beautiful weekend.
  13. Why do you want to ramp from a point?? Because I already had a hole at this point which is smaller than the endmill using for the pocket. Dont like just plunging into the part and theres no need in grabbing another drill to open the hole up when i can ramp from that point. Thanks everyone I figured it out and its working just fine. Being a new MC user is a little rough sometimes but learning new stuff is great. Ive learnt something just about every day and poor-ol-dummy me loves to learn new things, keeps you from getting bored.
  14. Got a simple one here forya. I'm pocket milling and want my ramp to enter at a specific point, which I know how to do but the problem is how to I get it to put more ramp angle when using entry point. All boxes are darkened when i choose ramp from entry point.
  15. thats is the link www.cadcamforum.net
  16. West Michigan, Muskegon
  17. cad/cam forum. Im not even a registerd user the myself. I visit it every couple of weeks and have found a couple of interesting things there.
  18. Bullines he is not a user but was interested in MC.
  19. Just thought id pass this along maybe one of the resellers here would like to check into this. I use another forum also for general machine information, where a member there ask opinions of cam software. I suggested MC. This was a reply: I can't get our retailer to contact me on MasterCam, so I can't believe that there support would be much better. I have been trying to contact them for over three months and gave up on them. If they wanted to sell there product, they would of been in touch with me by now. Now back to me, I'm very satisfied so far with my reseller and havent had any problems. My post was sent when requested and any problems ive run into they have also answered them and in a timely manner. And this forum is very useful in finding answers to things when I need information also.
  20. Workin on gettin my arse out of here for the weekend.
  21. Thanks James. Sounds like too much bull to accomplish this task and I for one really dont understand why they want cad files in this format. But I figured if anyone know how to accomplish this would be someone here. Thanks again everyone for your help.
  22. The .pst format im wanting to convert my .dwg's to is for outlook express
  23. Anyone know how to take .dwg "autocad" files and convert them to .pst files.
  24. Wondering if anyone here is using lasers. If so I would like some input on what to look for in purchasing, what machines are good and which are junk . Interested in one that will do up to aleast 1/2" plate. And does anyone use Mc to program them.
  25. Thankyou all for your help it is greatly appreciated
